Rewrite everything to index.php? - .htaccess

This is a quick question. How do I change the .htaccess file to rewrite everything to redirect it to the index.php file?
When I'm removing the line of RewriteCond I'll get an 505 Internal Server Error.
This is my .htaccess file:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule . index.php [L]

You can use this rule:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.(?:jpe?g|gif|bmp|png|ico|tiff|css|js)$ [NC]
RewriteRule !^index\.php$ index.php [L,NC]
RewriteCond will skip this rewrite for image/css/js files.
Negative Expression !^index\.php$ means match anything except index.php.

.htaccess rewrite to subfolder with codeigniter rewrite

I have a site that needs to exist in a subfolder
example.com/site
But i'm trying to use the .htaccess to remove any links that contain www (to make sure codeigniter csrf doesn't throw errors), so i've added
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.example\.com)?$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com/site/$1 [R=301,L]
This works well when there is a page identifier specified, so
www.example.com/site/book rewrites to example.com/site/book
But when there is no page identifier specified I get a 404
www.example.com/site rewrites to example.com/site//usr/local/pem/vhosts/103480/webspace/httpdocs/new
I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction?
This is my full .htaccess
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.example\.com)?$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com/site/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule .* index.php/$0 [PT,L]
You may try this instead:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.*) [NC]
RewriteRule .* http://example.com/%1 [R=301,L]
Maybe, you're just missing a RewriteBase
Depending on where the .htaccess file is, try either
RewriteBase /
or
RewriteBase /site

htaccess with specific folder exception

I've set up an htaccess file in order to create a small routing structure where urls redirect to index.php. I want to add an exception where if the user types in "/admin" and anything after, the url instead redirects to admin.php.
htaccess -
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^admin/?(.*)$ admin.php?page=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . index.php [L]
Example: http://mysite.com/admin/settings/ should lead to admin.php?page=settings, while http://mysite.com/about/ should lead to index.php (not using any parameters here). Regexp is really not my cup of tea, especially when there are multiple conditions to consider. Ideas?
Edit: ^admin/([^/]*)/? solved it.
You may try this in one .htaccess file in root directory:
Options +FollowSymLinks -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !admin\.php [NC]
RewriteRule ^admin/([^/]*)/? /admin.php?page=$1 [NC,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/admin/ [NC]
RewriteRule .* /index.php [NC,L]
For permanent redirection, replace [NC],L] with [R=301,NC,L]

htaccess mod_rewrite - reroute all urls to index except /admin

I'm setting up a small set of rewrite rules in an htaccess file, where I want every url to go to a index.php file except for /admin which I want to redirect to admin.php. Not very familiar with mod_rewrite or regexp unfortunately.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^admin$ admin.php [L]
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
This gives me an internal server error (not saying 500). Removing or uncommenting the admin rewrite makes it work.
The conditions need to be applied to the index.php rewrite rule, otherwise it causes a redirect loop. A RewriteCond only gets applied to the immediately following RewriteRule so the rule that routes everything to index has no conditions. Try just rearranging the lines:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^admin$ admin.php [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

HTACCESS | Social Engine | Stop redirecting Root index

I have a install of SocialEngine currently and all urls are processed by .htaccess file that redirects through to the socialengine.php file and processes nice URLs etc.
I am wanting to stop example.com/ been redirected through to the script as I am wanting to put a different index page there. So I want my .htaccess file to process every other file it cant find through the socialengine.php script but keep the root file going to index.php.
So if it’s .com/ it goes to index.php and if it’s anything else it’s processed through the socialengine.php.
Below is my .htaccess file that requires alteration.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
# Get rid of index.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /socialengine\.php
RewriteRule (.*) socialengine.php?rewrite=2 [L,QSA]
# Rewrite all directory-looking urls
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /$
RewriteRule (.*) socialengine.php?rewrite=1 [L,QSA]
# Try to route missing files
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} public\/ [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} \.(jpg|gif|png|ico|flv|htm|html|php|css|js)$
RewriteRule . - [L]
# If the file doesn't exist, rewrite to index
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ socialengine.php?rewrite=1 [L,QSA]
</IfModule>
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Put the code below straight after RewriteEngine On.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/$
RewriteRule .* - [L]
Explanation: The first line matches a request to http://example.com/ (REQUEST_URI contains / in this case). The second line passes the request untouched (note the -)

.htaccess mod_rewrite - how to exclude directory from rewrite rule

I have 8 lines of rewrite rules in my .htaccess file. I need to exclude two physical directories on my server from these rules, so they can become accessible. For now all requests are sent to index.php file.
Directories to exclude: "admin" and "user".
So http requests: http://www.domain.com/admin/ should not be passed to index.php file.
ErrorDocument 404 /index.php?mod=error404
Options FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.domain\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^([^/] )/([^/] )\.html$ index.php?lang=$1&mod=$2 [L]
RewriteRule ^([^/] )/$ index.php?lang=$1&mod=home [L]
Try this rule before your other rules:
RewriteRule ^(admin|user)($|/) - [L]
This will end the rewriting process.
What you could also do is put a .htaccess file containing
RewriteEngine Off
In the folders you want to exclude from being rewritten (by the rules in a .htaccess file that's higher up in the tree). Simple but effective.
add a condition to check for the admin directory, something like:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/?(admin|user)/
RewriteRule ^([^/] )/([^/] )\.html$ index.php?lang=$1&mod=$2 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/?(admin|user)/
RewriteRule ^([^/] )/$ index.php?lang=$1&mod=home [L]
If you want to remove a particular directory from the rule (meaning, you want to remove the directory foo) ,you can use :
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/foo/$
RewriteRule !index\.php$ /index.php [L]
The rewriteRule above will rewrite all requestes to /index.php excluding requests for /foo/ .
To exclude all existent directries, you will need to use the following condition above your rule :
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
the following rule
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule !index\.php$ /index.php [L]
rewrites everything (except directries) to /index.php .
We used the following mod_rewrite rule:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/test/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/my-folder/
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
This redirects (permanently with a 301 redirect) all traffic to the site to http://www.newdomain.com, except requests to resources in the /test and /my-folder directories. We transfer the user to the exact resource they requested by using the (.*) capture group and then including $1 in the new URL. Mind the spaces.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^(wordpress)($|/) - [L]
