I'm using Visual Studio Code (1.6.1) with its jshint extension (0.10.15).
When I type some template string, such as:
console.log(`My name is: ${name}`);
VSCode highlights it in red and says:
[jshint] Unexpected '`'. (E024)
And the rest of the code starts showing dozens of false errors like:
[jshint] Expected an identifier and instead saw 'if'. (E030)
[jshint] Expected an operator and instead saw '('. (E030)
[jshint] Expected an assignment or function call and instead saw an expression. (W030)
I've looked in the docs, but nothing references this issue.
Anyone come up with a workaround for this?
It seems that your JSHint is not recognicing ES6.
Can you try to set esversion to 6 in JSHint options?
I am using Visual Studio Code 1.7.1, with jshint extension 0.10.15. Without .jshintrc I got this message:
[jshint] 'template literal syntax' is only available in ES6 (use 'esversion: 6'). (W119)
I created a .jshintrc file with content:
{
"esversion": 6
}
And it worked.
Note that jshint module might be required (globally or locally), it can be automatically added to your package.json by doing:
npm install --save-dev jshint
This installs jshint locally (in node_modules folder) and adds a dev dependency entry:
"devDependencies": {
"jshint": "^2.9.4"
}
Note also that a restart of VS Code may be required, after installing the module or the extension.

From the documentation here, it looks like I should be able to add the following to my jest config extensionsToTreatAsEsm: [".js", ".mjs"],. But when I run I get
Unknown option "extensionsToTreatAsEsm" with value [".js", ".mjs"] was found.
This is probably a typing mistake. Fixing it will remove this message.
I am on latest so what am I missing?
I was getting the same error seems like it's still experimental and my build was failing on GitHub. For the time being I went without the native ESM modules configuration in jest.config.js
extensionsToTreatAsEsm [array < string >]
Jest will run .mjs and .js files with nearest package.json's type field set to module as ECMAScript Modules. If you have any other files that should run with native ESM, you need to specify their file extension here.
Note: Jest's ESM support is still experimental,
I've managed to resolve this by providing
"jest": {
"extensionsToTreatAsEsm": [".ts"]
}
option in the package.json instead of jest.config.ts.
I am new to Node.js development and I have installed WebStorm from JetBrains to use it as my JavaScript IDE.
So I am following a tutorial in Udemy and I have come to notice the following problem.
I installed some modules with npm from WebStorm Console and although my JS script is working as intended, WebStorm autocompletion for the npm modules is not working.
Coding assistance for Node.js in my settings is marked! What do I do wrong?
The problems occur because of the weird way properties are defined.
For example, in chalk package they are generated dynamically using Object.defineProperty(this, styleName, {value: builder});, where the styleName is a color name you use in your code. There is no way to resolve them when analyzing file statically.
Normally installing Typescript stubs can be used as a workaround. But this doesn't work for validator due to WEB-43528.
chulk typings are included in package distribution, but not resolved because the required fields in package.json are missing. As a workaround, open node_modules/chalk/package.json and add "types": "index.d.ts", to it:
this should help:
When I generate a nodejs-server with swagger 3.0.1 in the online tool https://editor.swagger.io/ and try to npm start the project I always get the following error:
Error: Cannot find module './middleware/swagger.router'
Short-term fix: you can get it to run until the maintainer of oas3-tools and Smartbear (for this server generator) fixes their respective parts.
PROBLEM A: oas3-tools build script isn't copying the 'middleware' over to the 'dist' directory.
To fix this:
Start your generated server (this will run npm install and create the dist folder in node_modules/oas3-tools)
Go into ./node_modules/oas3-tools and manually copy the missing src/middleware to the dist folder.
Now that you have a middleware folder in your dist folder, run the following typescript compile command against it: tsc dist/middleware/
PROBLEM B:
The next issue is a typo on the path to the swagger document is incorrect.
To fix this:
In the index.js file of your generated server, change the string 'api/openapi.yaml' to 'api/swagger.yaml'
POSSIBLE EXTRA PROBLEM:
You may need to manually transpile your .ts files. Please see #Alex's comment below if you also run into this (i.e. error TS6053: File 'dist/middleware/.ts' not found. Found 1 error)

Oas3-tools bug posted here: https://github.com/bug-hunters/oas3-tools/issues/17
The latest version of oas3-tools is 2.1.2 is screwed up. Use 2.0.2 for now.

I have this error using ng new project_name:
An invalid configuration file was found ['angular.json']. Please delete the file before running the command.
I am getting this error I don't know how to get the solution.
I uninstalled #angular/cli and installed again
npm clean cache doesnt work too (I dont know if it is problem of my npm version
npm version is 6.4.1
node version is 8.11.1
what do i need to solve the problem?
If you are using the terminal of IntelliJ IDEA while there is a angular project already imported in the IDEA, it is the problem of the IDEA.So, open the command promt of your windows and create the project.
I did this and I was able to create the project.
The problem seems to be the _ in project_name resulting in the following error:
Schematic input does not validate against the Schema: {"name":"project_name","version":"6.0.1","newProjectRoot":"projects","skipInstall":false,"linkCli":false,"skipGit":false,"commit":null}
Errors:
Data path ".name" should match format "html-selector".
Replace _ e.g. with -.

Setting the working directory in IntelliJ's Karma task, to the Angular project's main directory, also fixes the problem.
I deleted the file in c:\users\XXX\.angular.json and it was running ok.
Run following if file is hidden. Open Terminal, run mv /Users/shivammishra/.angular.json /Users/shivammishra/angular.json.txt.
mv command will move the file to new location (angular.json.txt) and you can then delete.
Angular.js & Wrong Directions.
First of all, open a file called angular.js in the root folder.
And check if you add some wrong Directory. like the style or something like that. as example.
Suppose you add the bootstrap dependency and you want to add it to your project you will go to the angular.js and add it in the style configuration. so you will add it as the below:
"styles": [
"./node_modules/bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css",
"src/styles.css"
],
Check if you add double dot .. not one dot in the path like the below:
"../node_modules/bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css",
Or you maybe add it in the following format:
"/node_modules/bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css",
or
"node_modules/bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css",
The correct format is :
"./node_modules/bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css",
I installed plugin for Intellij-Idea and it doesn`t work. Why can it be? As you can see the require word doesn`t become yellow.
And here is my plugin installed:
Please make sure to enable Node.js Core library in File | Settings | Languages & Frameworks | Node.js and NPM
I like to hover over things that are underlined to give me clues as to where to start. Your "path" and "require" are underlined. Your errors might say Unused local variable 'path' and Unresolved method or function require()
You might not have installed node in the current project. If you don't have node installed, try:
npm init to create a package.json file.
IntelliJ will walk you through creating the file. You can just press enter all the way through if you want and edit it later.
npm install express --save (replace express with whatever library you are trying to use) to save library in the dependencies list
