Applications for platform ios can not be built on this OS

I'm trying to use NativeScript + Angular + SQLite to create a mobile application and following this video. At 3:00, it says to run the command tns platform add ios in the folder and I get the error "Applications for platform iso can not be built on this OS." The OS that I'm running is Windows 10 Home. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
You can not build apps for iOS using Windows OS, it's not limitation from NativeScript but from Apple itself. You need Xcode to build apps for iOS which can only be installed on Mac OS.
If you have an iOS device with you, you may use Playground or Preview to run your code directly on your device from a Windows machine. The CLI / Sidekick even support cloud builds.
If you like to use Simulators, the only option is to install Mac OS using Virtual Box but that may be terribly slow.

Connecting to WinCE 5.0 Device - ActiveSync vs Windows Mobile Device Center

I have a single board computer running Windows CE 5.0 that's connected to a desktop via serial. I'm updating the desktop from Windows 2000 to Windows 7 and as a result need to update from ActiveSync to Windows Mobile Device Center. With WMDC, I am no longer able to make a partnership with the device or connect.
My question is - are there any known changes to how repllog.exe (device side) interacts with WMDC vs ActiveSync (host side)?
Maybe a better question - will WMDC even work with with Windows CE 5.0? The system requirements listed here don't show CE 5.0 as supported.
Nothing else in the setup has changed and the only thing I can guess is that the single board computer is no longer 'answering' or handling the connect event properly.
I don't have access to the build tools for creating the WinCE 5.0 image unfortunately, so I'm not sure if I can easily update to WMDC on the device side.
Also, the current registry values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"RasTimeoutResponseWait"=dword:00000032
"RasTimeoutPause"=dword:00000005
"ConnectTypesAllowed"=dword:00000008
"CheckPasswordTimeoutSeconds"=dword:00000014
"WaitV2TimeoutSeconds"=dword:00000004
"SerialPort"="COM1"
"HasUsbDevice"=dword:00000000
"SerialBaudRate"=dword:0001c200
"DeviceType"=""
"DeviceOemInfo"=""
"DeviceVersion"=dword:04401504
"DeviceProcessorType"=dword:00000000
"DeviceProcessor"=""
"DTPTNetworkType"="{0}"
"DisableIr"=dword:00000000
"GuestOnly"=dword:00000001
"InstalledDir"="C:\\Windows\\WindowsMobile"
"Dual-Home"=dword:00000000
"DisableCredentialSave"=dword:00000000
"MajorVersion"=dword:00000006
"MinorVersion"=dword:00000001

"MinimumPartnershipProtocol"=dword:00000002

"BuildNumber"=dword:00001b35
"EulaRequired"=dword:06010000
My environment is Windows 7 Pro x64 + WMDC x64 + WinCE 5/6 and it works fine. So I believe that WMDC does support WinCE 5.0.
As I remember WMDC can conflict with MS Outlook, try to google this, this is probably your case.
If connecting through a serial port, you may have to modify the registry on the host PC to allow serial connections.
Change this key to the name of the serial port, e.g. "COM1". Then reboot your PC and do not change anything in the WMDC settings dialog after that.

Build WinObjC app on Linux

Currently I am using Ubuntu linux and I want to create a WinObjC app on Linux plateform. Is there any way to create WinObj apps on linux.
Sorry to disapoint you, but unfortunately there is not. WinObjC is intended to bring iOS apps to Windows 10. Basically it just enables you to write Windows 10 apps in Objective-C but you still need a Windows 10 machine to compile it.
A Windows 10 device and Visual Studio are mandatory at the moment, to create WinObjC apps.

Autorun desktop app and check if it is running from a Windows 8 App

I´m developing a Windows 8 App, and it needs a desktop app running on background to work properly.
So i have two questions:
1.- The OS is a Windows 8.1 Industry Embedded. I need to autorun the desktop app and my Windows 8 app at startup.
Here explains how to do so with a Windows 8 App, but not with a desktop app, so i´m using this other solution to add the application to the Windows Startup folder, but i´m not sure if this is the best way.
2.- Then, when my app starts, i should check if the other app is running or not to work in one way or another. How can i check that? I´m developing with HTML and Javascript.
Thanks!
Yes that is the 'proper' solution to starting a desktop app on startup. Otherwise you can look at creating a windows service that manages the app lifecycle.
By design, winRT apps are not supposed to talk to desktop applications, but if you are sideloading the winRT app (i.e., not through the Windows Store), you could run a local server with your desktop app, and then enable local loopback with localhost in your winRT app and communicate that way.

deploying j2me application on old handsets

I was to develop a simple j2me application for microworks. The application is to send sms.
But I found that most of the mobile phone they carry are very simple and even some of them don't have Bluetooth, infrared, browser. How to make it work out?
We can assume configuration as nokia 2100, nokia 1616. How am I supposed to deploy my app on such handsets?
OTA is required to work on every MIDP mobile device, just navigate with the device browser to the jad URL and click it.
