Azure RemoteApp additional files - azure

I've just created my first remote app. I choosed my own application .exe file from my desktop and it has been published. Then i connect by Azure connect program and saw my app icon there, unfortunately there was some error when wanted to lunch it. I think the problem is because my program requires also some .dll libraries to be attached and published with this .exe. However i have no idea how to add them to already published app. Can you please tell me how can i do that? Second case - i suppose this published app using storage - how can i check which storage (i have only one already) has been associate with this app and alternatively how to switch to new storage i just created?

If I understand correctly you want to update a custom application published to Azure RemoteApp.
According to Azure RemoteApp documentation:
if you are using a custom image (either that you built from scratch or
that you created by modifying one of our images), you are in charge of
maintaining the image and apps.1
You can follow below steps to update your app:
Create a VM using the image from which you have created the RemoteApp Collection. You'll find your custom application on the newly created VM.
Update your custom application.
Create a new image of the VM.
Update RemoteApp with the new image. Steps for updating the RemoteApp Collection
At the moment Azure RemoteApps does not support updating the custom apps without having to update the server image.
As far as your issue with Storage is concerned, you have to check the Storage account connection string which is used in the application code.

Azure App Service on Linux - Static File Content not updated

I have created an App Service (inside Linux based App Service Plan). I have connected to wwwroot folder using FTP Client
In the hostingstaart.html, I made a simple text change.
I couldn't see the change getting reflected when I navigate to https://.azurewebsites.net/
However, when I navigate to Kudu and access the same page, I can see the change.
Below is the screenshot.
In the left hand side (kudu website), I can see the change that I have made (DevOps Engineers). However, In this right hand side, the changes is not shown.
In order to troubleshoot, I have added another file as well which is visible in Kudu. But, I'm not able to access the same.
This is not at all an issue in Windows Based App Service Plan. This is an issue only with Linux based app.
Is there any docker container internally where it reads the files from? if yes, how do change those files?
Appreciate any help here .
Thanks,
Praveen
Yes, Azure App Service on Linux run in containers and depending on the platform, different webservers and locations are used which can get confusing.
For SSH access into the container go to https://<yourappname>.scm.azurewebsites.net/webssh/host - in .NET projects on Linux the default page you'll see on a new app service is stored at /defaulthome/hostingstart/wwwroot/hostingstart.html while files you upload via FTP will go to /home/site/wwwroot.
That being said, I'd recommend to use the documented ways to publish content based on the platform you want to use. For .NET, you can find the docs here.

Unable to save Application Settings in Azure Function App which I was able to save successfully previously

I am getting an error message while trying to save application settings which I have added for the Function App.
I had created a function app and have been using it for Azure functions. I had previously successfully added Application setting for a config parameter in the azure function application settings and have been using this in code. This time when I went to add another application settings suddenly it started giving the error "Cannot change the site to the App Service Plan EastUSPlan due to hosting constraints". Nothing has been changed and on previous occassions, I was able to add application settings this way. I have tried following the solutions in below link on using previous or pre URL for azure functions and also to clear cache and try on different browsers.
Azure App Service : can't save application settings
I want to successfully save a new config property in azure function as I was doing previously by adding an entry under Application Settings. How can I save the application settings entry in such a case?
Thank You.
One alternative workaround which worked for me was to delete the function app, create a new function app by the same name, add the application settings in the newly created function app (before deploying any code). It allowed me to save the application settings. Only after this, I deployed the code.
For now to unblock yourself you can use REST API :
Web Apps - Update Application Settings
PUT https://management.azure.com/subscriptions/{subscriptionId}/resourceGroups/{resourceGroupName}/providers/Microsoft.Web/sites/{name}/config/appsettings?api-version=2016-08-01
But Share the screen shot of the error from the portal. Also I may required further information from your side if the issue still persist so that I can get it rectified from portal perspective also.

Cloud Explorer - cannot access development Blob Containers

I am developing with Azure storage locally using VS2015. I created and accessed my development storage blob container fine. I upload three images and have code to calculate the size of the images.
For some unknown reason, I cannot expand the Blob Containers node in Cloud Explorer any more. I.e. Cloud explorer > Storage Accounts > (Development) > Blob Containers. Doing so results in the following error message:
Cloud Explorer has encountered an unexpected error: Unable to retrieve
child resources.
It has been working fine in the past, so not sure what's changed. I know there are containers inside and I can seemly create one but then it doesn't show up in the list.
It works for live Azure storage accounts but not development.
Though I can still write code against this Development container - so it's there and functional but Cloud Explorer just not listing the containers i.e. no access to view files / upload file through VS UI.
Here are my steps to resolve
Uninstall Cloud Explorer via Extensions and Updates
Restart VS
Update the Cloud Explorer in Extensions and Updates (that apparently wasn't uninstalled)
Experience the catastrophic behaviour (very slow)
Restart VS
Fixed (seemingly)
Look into Extensions and Updates to see Cloud Explorer is disabled
Everything is fixed.
Update (29/07/2018)
If you are having trouble launching Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer (Development) e.g. blob storage and get the error message "Unable to retrieve child resources" followed by details of "A network error occurred...ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:10002" then simply (install and) run the Azure Storage Emulator.
The aforementioned solution didn't work for me.
The error went away after upgrading to Azure SDK 3.0 (using web platform installer). After that I am able to expand the child resources in App Services, and attach the debugger.
Another option that worked was using the Server Explorer to expand files/attach the debugger, but that option seems to have been turned off in 3.0.
The name of the Storage Account Name is case sensitive to teh azure service. The client however is not.
Because of this you can connect, but when the Storage Explorer tries to enumerate the child object it will fail if the Storage Account is not entered with the proper case.
I got this error when my system-clock was accidentally set a couple of hours back in time. Just saying.

Azure RemoteApp - Run IE9 and JRE

Does RemoteApp allow you to install any version of Internet Explorer? I have a need to support 40 users and I need to give them access to IE9 and a specific version of Java Run Time.
Thanks
Yes.
Azure RemoteApp uses images to hold the apps that you share with your users.
To create an Azure RemoteApp collection with your choice of applications, whether it is cloud or hybrid, you start by creating an image with those applications installed.
Then, create a collection that uses that image, assign users to the collection, and publish apps to those users.
Thus, you can create a custom Azure RemoteApp image with Internet Explorer 9 and also the specific JDK version to meet your requirements.
Hope this helps!

Geoserver on Microsoft Azure Website

I need to add some Geoserver data on my Azure Website. I'm just wondering that if I need to install Geoserver for that on my account (if it is possible) or is there some other way?
As I was just looking around, I found this link working
http://geoserver.azurewebsites.net/
If this link is working, does it mean that we can configure Geoserver on Azure
There are a couple of ways to do this.
One option is to use a plain old Azure Web App with the GeoServer web archive (WAR file).
To do this download the web archive version of GeoServer. Then create a web app in the Azure portal. Under application settings you need to specify Java version 8 and a Tomcat version above 7.0.65. Then all you need to do is ftp the GeoServer WAR file to /site/wwwroot/webapps.
Once you have done that you should be able to access GeoServer by visiting your web app with the path /geoserver appended to the url. But be patient, the initial start up is slow and can take a few minutes.
Another option is to deploy a container image. I have ended up creating one myself that is tailored for use in an Azure Web App.
To use it you will need a Linux App Service Plan. When creating your web app select Docker Hub as the container image source and use coderpatros/geoserver-azure-web-app as the image. You can also specify a tag to use a particular GeoServer version. i.e. coderpatros/geoserver-azure-web-app:2.14.2. The available tags can be found on Docker Hub at https://hub.docker.com/r/coderpatros/geoserver-azure-web-app/tags. After you've created the web app you need to go to application settings and set WEBSITES_ENABLE_APP_SERVICE_STORAGE to true to enable persistent storage.
There is a OpenGeo Suite in Azure marketplace which helps in publishing maps and data from a variety of formats and sources with GeoServer.
Not sure if it will help you, but here ... OpenGeo Suite
