I have build an app using meteor. I have placed mosca node module inside node_modules folder as server.js. On local machine i used to run meteor then run node server.js on another terminal.
So when i deploy my app to meteor servers, will node run automatically or i have to set something?
Also what will be host address for mosca in that case?
I dont think this method works deploying to Meteor.com (if thats what you mean by meteor servers), you have a couple of options for adding npm packages though:
1) Use the meteorhacks npm package for Meteor
meteor add meteorhacks:npm
create a file called packages.json
{
"mosca": "1.0.2"
}
Then in your server side code you do:
var Mosca = Meteor.npmRequire('mosca');
mosca = new Mosca();
and voila mosca should be usable
2) Try the new npm functionality in Meteor 1.3 + (note: this is currently in beta at the moment) (you will need to specify the --release tag in your deploy)

I have already built a few VueJs applications for myself. Now I am working with a team. One backend and me frontend.
Now I'm wondering how do I include the environment in the repository. Until today I always had node on my local machine. With nvm I could also jump between versions on the local machine. But now I want future colleagues who will develop the app to have the same environment. So work with the same node and npm version. I thought this could be done with a dockerfile or docker-compose.yml. Then I can log into the container and run the npm run build for example.
Question But how does it work with npm run dev? Do I have access with the browser to the port that is assigned in the container of the Vue app?
I am very very new to React JS and have tried to install it on my VPS server that is running Cent OS.
Node.js seems to be working,
I have build a React project using the following code as a root level user on SSH:
npx create-react-app my-react-project
cd my-react-project
npm start
but when trying to view in browser I get a blank page (instead of react js default template)?
I see many people install this locally but I haven't found any examples on a hosted VPS, is this something I am doing wrong?

if you have ssh access to your VPS, the rest is pretty the same as your local environment.
You can copy/paste your project to your CentOS host and use the following commands in order to run it:
cd your_project_folder_which_includes_package_json_file
npm install
npm start
Also, if you are using this server as a production host, You should consider getting a production build of your React app on your local env by running npm run build and then publishing the build folder on your server and serving it using a static file server or using a reverse-proxy such as Nginx as a static server.
Actually this page in React documentation does a good job in explaining the details of deploying a React app, I encourage you to take a look at it.
I'm new to node.js. After creating modularized project with express, tests, .nvmrc etc. it's finally time to deploy the app. How it should be done? in java you bundle your project into a single file, self containing and you put in into a server with some configuration. what about node.js?
Should i just copy the whole directory with sources and node_modules to production machine and use systemd, pm2 or other process manager to just run it? but i heard some of the dependencies might be system-dependend so they may work incorrectly
or should i copy only sources and run npm install --production on the production machine? but this way the deployment is only possible when npm repositories are online. also it takes time to build the application and it has to be done on all machines in the cluster. also what about quickly rolling back to previous version in case there is some bug? again, time and online npm repos are needed
another option is to build a docker image. but it seems awkward that the only way to easily and safely deploy the app is using third party technology

sure don't copy the whole directory especially node_modules.
all the packages installed on your system should be installed with --save option example: npm install --save express if you do so you will have in your package.json the dependencies required for your project whether they are dev dependencies or production dependencies.
I don't know what your project structure looks like, but as a node application you have to run npm init . in your project to setup the package.json file and then you can start adding your dependencies with --save.

to deploy to the server, first we push our code to a git repository then we pull from it to the server git
you have to add .gitignore in your project and ignore node_modules from being committed to your git repository.
then you can pull to your server and run npm install on the server. and sure you need to launch your web server to serve your application example ngnix

How can Parse Server be installed on Heroku using the parse-server repository and not the parse-server-example repository?
I cloned parse-server locally and was trying to modify the start script in package.json but without success. I still want to use an index.js file like in parse-serverexample to configure the server.
Normally in local, I use cmd, command line to install any nodejs module using "npm install testing or connect or etc.."
But I decided to use appfog as server and I add nodejs to my project on appfg but probably I am gonna need some nodejs modules like testing, connect, request etc..
The problem is I couldnt found tool like cmd on appfog or any way to add nodejs modules.
How can I do this?
Basically, you just need to install the dependencies in your local environment and everything should be just fine. Simply specify all of your dependencies in your package.json file, run a typical npm install, and if the modules are properly installed in your local environment then they will be pushed to AppFog when you run af update.
You just have to develop your application on your local machine with all the required dependencies in the json package and modules in the Node.JS. And if your application is working properly at that time on your local machine then you can push all that application data to the AppFog using command line interface. Simply use the command af update <your app name> Then start the application and you will see that everything is working properly.
