Is there a way to make an Installshield 2015 installer always run silent without a command line? - installshield-le

I've searched all over and have not found this. I need to make an Installshield 2015 installer that just installs unattended. No next clicking, no finish button to click, just installs and closes. I don't care if it is visible or not. No using a command line switch.

After some experimentation i figured out a way to do it.
Unload the VS installer project.
Open the .isl file in your text editor of choice located in the installer projects folder
Do a search for InstallUISequence
Remove the following lines from the section:
<row><td>InstallWelcome</td><td>Not Installed</td><td>1210</td><td>InstallWelcome</td><td/></row>
<row><td>SetupCompleteError</td><td/><td>-3</td><td>SetupCompleteError</td><td/></row>
<row><td>SetupCompleteSuccess</td><td/><td>-1</td><td>SetupCompleteSuccess</td><td/></row>
You can optionally remove this if you want no progress bar:
<row><td>SetupProgress</td><td/><td>1240</td><td>SetupProgress</td><td/></row>
Save the file in the text editor
Reload the project in visual studio and build the file.

MGCB Content Builder Won't Launch Properly

I'm trying to use the Monogame Content Builder in Linux with VS Code. I installed this extension in order to easily run the Content.mgcb file, but when I right click the file, the option to run it doesn't appear. Alternatively, when I run dotnet mgcb-editor in the terminal, this window shows up, but there's no option to import a file or do anything! This is what it looks like:
What am I doing wrong? Why won't the extension work, and why won't the the editor open properly? I'm pretty sure the editor should look like this (this image is from a tutorial).
The Linux GTK version displays differently than the windows version.
Use the New button(Leftmost on Bar) or Open button to specify the .mgcb file in the project folder.
Once a file is open, the Bar adds buttons on the left for Build, Rebuild and Clean and Save on the right.
Right-Click the Content node under project to Add existing or add new or build.

How to add a command to context menus in Visual Studio 2019

I'm trying to add a command to the Document Tab context menu in Visual Studio 2019 so I can go directly to the open file in the Solution Explorer. I'm aware of File Tracking. I don't want to open the folder for every file tab I click on. I'm also aware of this extension but it seems like I have to click it two, sometimes three times before it will go to the file.
I found the relevant context menu under Customize -> Commands. It's "Other Context Menus | Easy MDI Document Window". The problem is that under "Add Command" you can only add from preselected lists of commands, and they don't make things easy to find.
I can see the command I want to add under Options -> Environment -> Keyboard. It's SolutionExplorer.SyncWithActiveDocument. But I don't see any way to use it in the Customize window, or if it's there I can't find it.
You can directly add commands to a menu only from the existing VS menus.
For additional commands, you can create an intermediate command with my Visual Commander extension DTE.ExecuteCommand("SolutionExplorer.SyncWithActiveDocumen") and then add this VCmd.Command01 command to the menu.

Sublime Text Update 3083 Error - Error Code 32

When trying to update Sublime Text 3 to version 3083 on a Windows 10 computer I keep getting an error message at the end of the update saying
'Unable to rename C:\Program Files\Sublime Text 3 to C:\Program
Files\Sublime Text 3 (3083), error code: 32'
I looked it up on Microsoft's website and error 32 stands for 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process'.
So I tried closing down all other programs and tried updating again but I still get the same problem. I have also tried running the program as an administrator but the update creates the same error message.
I only have package control installed and the Haxe plugin installed and so I can't find any other reason why it wouldn't work, although I haven't updated it before.
Can anyone offer any advice?
All the application is trying to do is copy the new files into the sublime program folder. You can do this yourself:
Close your Sublime Text program
Open a file browser C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Sublime Text 3\Update (or wherever your update landed)
Open another C:\Program Files\Sublime Text 3 (Make a backup of this folder if you want to be cautious)
Copy everything from the update to the Program Files folder
Run Sublime Text (you should now see the update dialog)
Remove the update folder and backup if everything looks good
For me, I found that my antivirus (Malwarebytes) was causing the issue.
(I was alerted to this because I tried to update using the installer from the website and it warned me that Malwarebytes was holding on to files it needed to complete.)
I cancelled the installer, turned off Malwarebytes, and opened sublime to let it update itself normally and it worked nicely.
It seems this is common:

I can't believe chrome.exe (Google Chrome) was using the folder where Sublime Text was installed. Removing that lock with unlocker fixed the update error.
It's not like I have ANY plugin or open tab related to sublime text on chrome.
I really recommend unlocker though, saves you more than one time.
I was troubled by this problem for some days on Windows 10, and resolved it at last.
Navicate to sublime text path, like 'C:/program files/sublime text/'
find 'update_installer.exe' and 'sublime_text.exe'
Open the file's properties - compatibility - Run as administrator...(Something like that, maybe the spelling is wrong)
Select OK, and rerun sublime text.
In my case, the reason was a package (the Powershell Editor Services package), which establishes a handle to C:\Program Files\Sublime Text 3. Those processes continued to run even after cleanly quitting Sublime Text. Killing them and removing the package that spawned them allowed Sublime Text to install its update.
I found this by using Process Explorer (procexp). Here's how:
In procexp, run "Find Handle or DLL" (ctrl+F). Type "sublime" in the search field. When I did this, I saw "C:\Program Files\Sublime Text 3" appear several times in the search results.
Click on one of the results in the search window. The process that has a handle on the folder will be highlighted in procexp's main window.
Hover over the process name. You will see a Windows hint containing the command line that invoked the process. This is the command line which ran the process which had a lock on the Sublime Text 3 folder on my machine:
powershell.exe -NoProfile -NonInteractive -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& \"C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 3\Packages\PowerShell\editorservices/Start-EditorServices.ps1\" -EditorServicesVersion \"0.7.1\" -HostName \"Sublime Text Host\" -HostProfileId \"SublimeText\" -HostVersion \"3.0.3170\" -LogLevel \"Verbose\" -LogPath \"c:\users\yourus~1\appdata\local\temp\1526304355-EditorServices.log\" -BundledModulesPath \"C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 3\Packages\PowerShell\editorservices\modules\""
The issue is documented here and has been resolved here. So, the team is being responsive. Hopefully the procedure described here will help others find and resolve similar issues, with other processes that leave unnecessary handles floating around.
In my case the reason was I had Sublime Text opened with another user in the same computer. I closed Sublime Text for each user and then the installer worked.
For me it was a plugin running in background called host plugin 3-8 and i ended it right away by clicking end process tree in task manager (Windows 7)

Disable auto save of code in Visual Studio 2012

I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Pro for windows software development. Earlier I used to use VS 2008.
One option that I couldn't find (which was there in older version) is :
Before building -
-Do not save any changes
-Save all changes
-Prompt to save changes
The above was available in Tools->Options->Build & Run in older versions.
At times when I make temp changes in my code which I don't want to save it then that feature comes in handy.
Is there any way I can stop VS 2012 from saving my code before I build/run it.
Thank you,
Cheers,
GR
That feature was dropped in Visual Studio 2010. As far as I know it hasn't resurfaced in Visual Studio 2012.
Save All Files Before Build Gone in Visual Studio 2012?
The IDE prompts for saving on unsaved code or resources when you close the project.
With GIT or other source control you can run on command to save versions.
I actually like the program "Second Copy" which you can set up to save versions of your code (I save the last 15 versions of any changed file in the project). This is set up to run whenever a file changes, but you would not want it to save a new version every time you make a change while testing/debugging, preferring to only back up to the new version every time the file is SAVED either manually using the mouse/Shortcut keys or upon close of the IDE. That way you have true backup of code you are satisfied with.
I think having autosave is dangerous because it overworks the source control if you have one in place (either GIT or Second Copy or whatever) and if you don't you lose the ability to go back to a prior version should you stuff up the code or decide not to proceed with changes. Having the option, though, to have autosave (either at intervals or on "Run"/"Build") should still be there to please all users (but the default should be "off")
Of course on "Publish" all files are saved anyway (as they should be).
Give "Second Copy" consideration...http://www.secondcopy.com/ (I have no association with second copy, I have just used it for years and love it)

How to force Visual Studio not to add GlobalSection(Performance) section?

I played with Visual Studio builtin profiling tools and now every time I check out any file this section automatically adds to my solution file:
GlobalSection(Performance) = preSolution
HasPerformanceSessions = true
EndGlobalSection
I totally removed all profiling reports, then removed local copy of all source control files from this solution and update to latest. This section still in *.sln file after any checkout.
Other teammates who haven't used prfiler doesn't have this problem.
Has anyone any ideas?
Open the PerformanceExplorer in Visual Studio by using the Menu Analyze -> Windows -> PerformanceExplorer and check if it lists any session entries.
If so delete them by doing a right-click on an entry to open the ContextMenu. Then select "Remove" from the menu.
You should also check the folder of your solution if it contains any .vsp or .psess files and delete them. These are the report files of a profiling session.
Only way I could solve this was to close the solution, delete *.psess and *.vsp files from the root directory, reset my .sln file to the remote version and reopen the solution. Problem was then gone. This was using Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition.
