I am using the extlib Dialog component to display some data. I want the user to only close the dialog via a button I have in it.
I can't see any option to disable the close icon in the title bar. Can someone point me to the documentation on doing this? So far I've checked the wiki + extlib book (maybe I missed it?).
css rules, again! As far as I can see there's no "native" way to get rid of that close button (and to be honest, I don't think it's a really good idea to do so; see below). But using some css you of course can hide anything you want on your page.
Just give your dialog some custom styleClass; at runtime this custom class is then added to the dialog's outer div-container.
The close button itself is an link inside a span; the has tow style classes, one being "lotusClose".
Finally adding this piece of code to your style sheet will hide the button:
div.yourCustomClass a.lotusClose {display:none;}
Caveat:
The "close" button is there on purpose. And instead of hiding it I would rather add some kind of validation code to your dialog's close event. There are numerous examples, but maybe you just want to refer to dojotoolkit.org's reference for
dijit.Dialog
(section "Forms and Functionality in Dialogs).

I developed a simple chrome extension. Following the answers in this SO post I was able to programmatically open the popup window on certain webpages. The default behavior of the popup is to open a window at the top right. Is it possible to modify this behavior? Ideally, I would like the popup window to slide in from the right after the automatic window.open is invoked in the background script.
No, you have no control over how and where it appears.
If you want something like slide-in, you're better off injecting your GUI elements into the page itself.
How feasible it is depends on whether you need to inject it into an arbitrary page or if you're working with just one specific website. Shadow DOM might help you isolate styles from the parent page.

Easy answer: You can't.
That's why you can't find anything about it in the official documentation of the MsgBox function.
A workaround can be to create your own UserForm where you are free in how to style it.
Add a UserForm in your workbook's code module, and configure it with as many Label and CommandButton controls as needed.
If the label text will be static, you can configure these all through the Properties window in the IDE:
Labels, Command Buttons, etc., are accessible Controls on the UserForm, and can be altered dynamically during runtime if needed, e.g., during the form's Initialize or Activate or any other event handlers. Controls on the form can even alter other controls, for example you could leverage the command button's Click event handler to modify the text associated with Label1 control, etc.
You can even add (or remove) controls (labels and such) dynamically, too, and fully control their appearance/formatting/etc.
I am reusing my own Dialog "class" for different dialogs. This custom dialog is derived from sap.m.Dialog. Since OpenUI5 Version 1.34.* the footer buttons are no longer visible when following this approach.

as the dialog is a control, I had to shift the code to the init method. After that, the dialog showed the footer buttons like a charm.

I've been doing searches trying to find help on this, but so far all I have found is how to set options for popping up a SharePoint modal dialog box from custom code.
However, I haven't created any custom web parts to display modal dialogs. What's happening, is if someone clicks the upload document button in a library, the upload document modal dialog comes up, but the ok and cancel buttons are half off of the bottom of the box. Users can click on them, but it just doesn't look very good.
I started playing with the CSS to make the modal dialog box bigger to reveal the buttons, and that works for the most part, but the real problem is the grant user permission dialog box.
When that is clicked, it doesn't show the ok and cancel buttons, and maximizing the dialog box doesn't reveal them. The user has to hit tab about 5-10 times before the focus moves to the ok button and is then clickable.
I would post an image, but I don't have enough reputation to do so.
Has anyone come across this? It seems very strange that the out of the box setting would have this problem.
The CSS that I use to adjust the height and width of the modal dialog is:
.ms-dlgFrame, .ms-dlgContent, .ms-dlgBorder, .ms-dlgFrameContainer
I'm just trying to set the height/min-height values, but I haven't had much luck.

Stevangelista actually pointed me in the right direction, I wish I could mark comments as answers, and since I'm new I can't upvote the comment, but here's the solution:
I am using a customized master page, and that comment had me take a look at the elements in the page.
Since the master page is being used in the dialog boxes as well, I used the s4-notdlg class to remove parts that weren't needed in the dialogs. Those parts were pushing the buttons below the bottom of the screen.
I'm not a css expert, so there may be ways of keeping those parts and still have the buttons accessible, but the particular issue I was trying to fix was resolved by using the s4-notdlg class to objects in my custom master page.
I'm having a bit of trouble with custom action buttons in the honeycomb+ action bar. I'm adding a menu item that uses a custom layout (using the android:actionLayout attribute). The reason for the custom layout is that I want a button that has two lines of text that can be updated dynamically.
However, I still want this action button to operate like the other standard buttons. By this I mean that the background fades in when the button is selected, and fades out again if it is unselected, all in the style of the platform (the colour seems to differ between different platforms/devices - I've seen both grey and blue versions)
I've tried using the action button style for the custom layout:
style="#android:style/Widget.ActionButton"
and I've tried setting the background for the custom layout to:
android:background="?android:attr/actionBarItemBackground"
but to no avail, and I'm kind of trying things fairly randomly as I can't find any documentation on how to do this (or if indeed it is even possible).
I know I can approximate this behaviour myself by setting the background, but it would be nice if I could just set the item to behave like a normal action button in terms of how it appears when the user interacts with it.
Anyone have any ideas?

Ah, sorry to answer my own question but I have just stumbled upon a way to do this. I was halfway there - you need your custom layout's style to inherit from ActionButton:
#android:style/Widget.ActionButton
but then you also need to make the layout clickable:
android:clickable="true"
for it to work. Using both of these makes the custom action buttons look just like the regular ones when you press them.
Hopefully that'll help someone trying to do this!
