I'm using the snapshot version of apache chainsaw http://people.apache.org/~sdeboy and I just need to read in a text log file. It works fine when I'm reading in keyword columns ex: LEVEL, MESSAGE ect... but when I want to add in a user defined column, it doesn't work.
To read in the text file, I use TIMESTAMP: LOGGER: LEVEL : MESSAGE : PROP(TIER) as my log format where tier is my user defined property.
User-specified properties via PROP work fine in general - I'm pretty sure the issue is that the MESSAGE field is not the last field in your log format.
Can you reformat your log format to make MESSAGE the last field?
If you can't, I'd try replacing the MESSAGE entry in your log format with a user-defined property like PROP(TEXT).
Either option may work for you.

While adding fields, I am facing issue that I am not able to open my table if there is new field added. it shows error like this:
Whenever a field is added, it shows an error like this:
when I check the event viewer, it shows this error:

Can anyone help me with this issue?
It looks like SalesTable is not properly sync'd. This type of error usually just means you need to compile & sync the entire environment to get things "working" better.
Remove your custom fields, compile the table, right click on the table, and synchronize and verify first you can successfully synchronize the individual table. If you can sync it, then sync your entire data dictionary to ensure everything is sync'd up...if one table is off (in this way), it can mean there are other tables as well.
You can choose to try and add fields and see if it works, but I would just start with a full system compile & sync.
Note: Your infolog screenshots cut off the error message. When asking a question, make sure to include the actual error messages and redact personal information. Your event viewer screenshot is also cut off...same thing.

When I create a new record on the Service Request (SR) application (Maximo 7.6), I would like to set the required Reported Date (SR.REPORTDATE) field blank. Before save action, the user will input data into that field. I wonder how this could be done?
Thanks for the help.
If you look in Database Configuration to see if REPORTDATE has a Default Value, I think you'll find &SYSDATE& in there. If I'm right, then you can delete that default value, save your changes, and apply your changes. Otherwise, you'll need to do as #Dex suggested.
My mind immediately goes to an automation script. A default value control or the default value setting in Database Configuration may work too and is recommended before a script if you have the expertise to confirm or deny this theory.
As for the automation script, I think you can create one with an object launch point on SR on the "add" event. The script would simply set that field to null, which shouldn't change the "required" flag either, so the rest of your needs will still be met.
mbo.setValueNull("REPORTDATE");
I am trying to do something simple in Tibco Spotfire, to try and set a document property in webplayer by specifying a property in the url. I cannot get this to work.
I have created a document property called 'test' which is simply a string
I have then created an input text control bound to that document property
I would expect that if I opened that report in webplayer with a url prepended with &configurationBlock=test%3D"helloworld" then the input text would be populated with the value helloworld. However, it is not.
This seems to be a reasonably simple thing to get working, I have tried what I think is every possible variant of encoding the data to no effect. Is there something I am doing wrong that could make this work.
you are going to hate this answer :)
you need to put a semicolon at the end of the parameter assignment. so you should have:
http://example.com/Spotfire/stuff?configurationBlock=test=helloworld;
I created an data source 'CSV' that has 2 columns. receipt_to and inventory_id.
I want to change the on the warehouse details screen, the default receiving location to Main, from whatever it currently is.
I created an import scenario and tried to configure it multiple ways. I can't get it to work. Sometimes I receive an error that either the value "Main" or the field "Default Receipt To" doesnt exist. I don't understand the error because I am sure both the field (which I selected) and the value "Main" is a legitimate location

Kyle, add "Warehouse" also in your input file. So, your input file must have InventoryID and Warehouse. and your import scenario must be like this.
We had our own custom logger in a C# program and now are trying to port to log4net.
In our app, there is further structure to what would normally go into %message. It may contain requestid, associated users, and other structure where requestid and user have internal significance to the program.
The hope is to ultimately be able to search on the fields inside %message, say requestid so we can collect all log entries with the same requestid for example.
Does log4net assist in anyway in creating own custom fields? The reason we ask is that currently the entire %message is logged as one string by default.
Any other suggestions on how to provide further formatting for %message? Otherwise we would have to pre-format %message inside our own code as, say, a CSV format
You can use event context to add additional structured data to a log entry:
http://www.beefycode.com/post/Log4Net-Tutorial-pt-6-Log-Event-Context.aspx
Depending on what kind of information you want to log you may need to create a wrapper that accepts additional parameters or else you have to write verbose code like this:
log4net.ThreadContext.Properties["myInformation"] = yourAdditionalInformation;
log.Info("info message");
Other information can be calculated and thus can be set once (for instance on application start up). Have a look at the calculated context properties in the above tutorial.
