issues installing libjpeg for mac (macports) - jpeg

I use a macbook (with Yosemite). I am quite new to macports.
However, i need to install libjpeg (so i can use torch7 fully), but get this error When i try:
sudo port install libjpeg-turbo
result:
---> Computing dependencies for libjpeg-turbo
Error: Unable to execute port: Can't install libjpeg-turbo because
conflicting ports are active: jpeg
I dont know quite what to do? as i don't think i can uninstall jpeg without problems

You can deactivate the conflicting port first with:
sudo port -f deactivate jpeg
sudo port install libjpeg-turbo

when i open unity and make something project then the error is coming that " no usable version of libssl was found "

i am new to linux ubuntu . i am using ubuntu 22.04 . recently i downloaded unity and it is showing error " no usable version of libssl was found " How to fix this PLease help me !!
i tried to find solution for this problem and i found nothing .
( i am using linux and i am new to linux )
.
You need to download the missing libssl library and install it
$ wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/o/openssl1.0/libssl1.0.0_1.0.2n-1ubuntu5_amd64.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i libssl1.0.0_1.0.2n-1ubuntu5_amd64.deb
For Ubuntu
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rael-gc/rvm
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install libssl1.0-dev
The reason for this error lies in incompatible versions of Open ssl on your machine and needed from Unity. Ubuntu 22.04 installs Open ssl 3.0 per default but Unity for Linux currently uses .Net5 per default and therefore can only run with Open ssl 1.0 or 1.1.
To fix this, you need to downgrade your Open ssl on your machine to either 1.0 or 1.1. I tested 1.0.2 version from the link Jeff Chen commented below rainman's answer.
I also tested the wget method from this answer over on askubuntu just with the downloaded package and it worked like a charm for me.
Unity is aware of this problem as seen here.
Edit: I had to restart my computer for the error to disappear.
You need to install libssl1.1
# download package with wget
wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/o/openssl/libssl1.1_1.1.0g-2ubuntu4_amd64.deb
# install package locally
sudo dpkg -i libssl1.1_1.1.0g-2ubuntu4_amd64.deb
original gist post:
https://gist.github.com/joulgs/c8a85bb462f48ffc2044dd878ecaa786
You have to install the openssl 1.1
Download and Install it by the following steps:
wget https://www.openssl.org/source/openssl-1.1.1q.tar.gz
tar -xzvf openssl-1.1.1q.tar.gz
cd openssl-1.1.1q
sudo ./config
sudo make install
openssl version -v
I'm not sure but you can set ln too:
sudo ln -sf /usr/local/ssl/bin/openssl `which openssl`
and if you get this error:
openssl: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
fix it with this command: ldconfig after install
The problem doenst exist with Unity 2022.2.2.
Works great on Ubuntu 22.04 with libssl3
Unity 2021 doesnt work on same system because of libssl3

Install Chrome/Cromium on Amazon Linux v2 (ARM64/aarch64/Gravitone)

Does anyone know a working solution to install Google Chrome(Chromium) on Amazon Linux 2 with ARM64 architecture (Gravitone c6g.xlarge instance)? I need to run it in headless mode.
At the moment I can't find any packages in yum:
No package chromium available.
When I try to install it using the RPM package I get the error:
Error: Package: chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64 (/chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64)
Requires: libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.27)(64bit)
Error: Package: chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64 (/chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64)
Requires: libz.so.1(ZLIB_1.2.9)(64bit)
Error: Package: chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64 (/chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64)
Requires: chromium-common(aarch-64) = 87.0.4280.141-1.el8
Error: Package: chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64 (/chromium-87.0.4280.141-1.el8.aarch64)
Requires: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.28)(64bit)
When I try to run sudo yum install glibc I get:
glibc-2.26-39.amzn2.aarch64
Looks like Amazon Linux has installed own older version of glibc. Same situation with zlib package, available older version:
zlib-1.2.7-18.amzn2.aarch64
To really solve the problem if you are using EC2 instance or any other server where you are running Amazon linux, you should follow the below steps .
Enable and install Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux by running the command
sudo amazon-linux-extras install epel -y
Post installing all the extra packages successfully, Install chromimum as usual
sudo yum install -y chromium
Once you do that Chromium will have all required such as libatk* libgdk* etc ...
You should be able to easily launch Chromium
The missed out packages that you are looking here, are actually not missedout they are kind of default you just have to enable them , this is well documented in AWS documentation .

Error installing nodejs in arch linux

Okay so i just made a fresh install of nodejs package on archlinux using pacman. Command for the same was
sudo pacman -S nodejs npm . Now when i tried to run the same i am getting error as
node: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.57: Which pretty much means that libicu is either not there or not the correct version. The problem that i am facing is that it is not there in pacman. I tried
sudo pacman -S libicu, which returned not able to find the package. What is the right way to resolve this issue. FYI : just a note, i would prefer not to install from source and prefer using pacman for the same. If there is any other output that you need to know please comment below and will let you know about the same.
I am currently on manjaro i3 fresh install.
Just found out, The name for package in arch linux is icu and not libicu. Once that is installed node will start working fine.
Update
After using node for quite sometime i realised that a better way to install node is using NVM. It would install both node and npm locally and you get the option to manage multiple version.Installation is as simple as
curl -o- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/creationix/nvm/v0.32.1/install.sh | bash
This error is caused by installing node js and npm package modules with missing packages that are unsupported by your system how about you try this:
$ sudo pacman -Rsc -n nodejs
$ sudo pacman -Sy nodejs
$ sudo pacman -Sy npm
did you use testing repo?
If you enabled testing repositories, but later on decided to disable them, you should:
Remove/Comment them from /etc/pacman.conf
pacman -Syuu to "rollback" your updates from these repositories.
The second item is optional, but keep it in mind if you notice any problems.
Also you can install stable ver : pacman -S core/icu
You just need to update arch
sudo pacman -Syu

Error in rstudio : libuuid.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I installed RStudio version 0.98.507 and my R version is 2.14.1. My OS is ubuntu 12.04. When I try to start RStudio from the terminal I get the following error:
rstudio: error while loading shared libraries: libuuid.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
How do I solve this?
apt-get install libuuid1
This command will not resolve the problem, if you are running 32 bit executable on 64 bit Ubuntu. Need to install 32 bit version of libuuid1 with `i386' suffix.
apt-get install libuuid1:i386
Try
sudo apt-get install libuuid1
Maybe you have some dependencies and, in fact, not completely installed.
When I tried to install, I got the following error:
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of rstudio:
rstudio depends on libjpeg62; however:
Package libjpeg62 is not installed.
So I simply installed the dependency via apt-get:
sudo apt-get install libjpeg62
And then installed the rstudio:
sudo dpkg -i rstudio-<your_version>-amd64.deb
In case someone else comes across this problem, installing libuuid1 also did not work for me. This was because I had installed the 32 bit version of R studio when my system is 64 bit. So one solution is to install the 32 bit versions of the libraries, such as 'libuuid1:i386' in debian. The more simple and obvious solution is to just uninstall the current version of rstudio and install the 64 bit version. Worked like a charm!
installing the following package solved the problem for me. I am using ubuntu 12.04
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Step by step: Installing Python 3.3, Lighttpd & Pymongo on Ubuntu 12.04

I'm currently migrating to new computer and I need to reinstall the software I am using which are:
Python 3.3,
Lighttpd (newest version),
Pymongo (newest version),
Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop (The System I'm using)
I started to install Python 3.3 by downloading it from the its official website (in tar.bz2 file) and by following this tutorial. Afterwards I installed Lighttpd and changed the lighttpd.conf for Python by following this tutorial, too.
I tried several paths for my cgi.assign, none of them worked. Especially /opt/python3.3/bin/python3.3 should be working, but it shows 500 - internal Server error all the time with a "hello world" test script.
Now regardless to this problem I have no clue on installing Pymongo. If I try to intall pip OR easy_install python3.3 I have to manually download it and execute the setup.py with my python3.3 executable, right? Because this always fails with an error:
`Error missing zlib on a bundle called distribute-0.7.3 (is this even the right tool I need, because it seems to be a legacy wrapper !?) or unknown url type: https for pymongo2.6.2 itself.`
I'm getting crazy with this setup. Why is this so difficult to handle? Other programs are just a few clicks to install even on a system like Ubuntu, but these particular development tools seem to be really difficult to install. If anybody has an idea on how to install all three together or has information on a better solution please help me out.
The system is used to program Python scripts in Eclipse and trying them out directly on the system (lighttpd). The database used is MongoDB. Python and MongoDB are communicating over the Pymongo driver. I am planning to use the system on a Server distribution on release and it has to be nicely scalable on a high amount of excecutions.
Thanks for your time,
It's easiest to use the Ubuntu repositories:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python3 python3-pip lightppd python-pymongo
Or if that only installs the python2.x pymongo, use pip, which you've just installed:
sudo pip-3.3 install pymongo
Or better yet, use a virtualenv with the help of virtualenvwrapper (docs)
sudo pip install virtualenvwrapper
... # follow instructions for installing virtualenvwrapper
mkvirtualenv --python=/usr/bin/python3 -i pymongo mongoppd
workon mongoppd
... which will segregate the environment I've called 'mongoppd' from the rest of your system so you can't cause any trouble. Then you don't need sudo to pip-3.3 install things, just workon mongoppd then pip-3.3 install [...]. Or after the -i flag when you create the virtualenv to get it installed straight away.
In general, on Ubuntu, you should hardly ever have to install something manually. Your first attempt should be using sudo apt-get install (use tab-complete to see what's available or just google "ubuntu 12.04 packages [...]" and you'll find the list of packages). Then for python use pip install or pip-3.3 install as appropriate. You'll only need to run python setup.py install if you need to install a development version of a package or something obscure that's not on pip. I don't think there's a good reason to ever use easy_install these days.
