I attempted removing all microsoft producst (VS2012, VS2008, SQL server), updating Windows 7 and installing again - same error.
The error materializes after trying to open a project, generated by RackAFX. The installation was previously working (read: I had opened and compiled projects via the RAckAFX and VS2012 workflow).
What could it be? I tried:
vs2012 error: package 'visual c++ package' failed to load
The 'ProviderPackage' package did not load correctly
Visual Studio 2012 Express only works once
Finally, I installed VS2010 and everything just worked fine ... for now.
I could be that you have an old MSBuild.exe (v4) ahead of a newer (v12?) MSBuild.exe. That happened to me before I discovered what MS has made.
From https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh162058.aspx:
MSBuild is now installed as part of Visual Studio rather than as part of the .NET Framework...
So for me, it used to be here:
c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\MSBuild.exe
After installing Build-Tools for VStudio (as part of VS2013 and/or from the "MSBuild Download" link in above URL), it ended up here:
f:\ProgramFiler-x86\MSBuild\12.0\Bin\amd64\MSBuild.exe
BUT after my old v4 MSbuild.exe. Swapping the PATHs fixed that. (since I'm not sure removing c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\ from the PATH is a good idea just yet).

I am running Visual Studio 2017 (15.8.0) with .NET Framework 4.6.01055 on Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB 64-bit (10.0, Build 10240).
Upon creating a new NodeJS project, for example: New->Javascript->Node.js->Blank Node.js Console Application
When the .njsproj file opens, I get this error:
Microsoft Visual Studio

Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc7b13ffcd2ddd51' or one of its
dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not
match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
I've uninstalled and reinstalled .NET Core and Visual Studio, yet I'm getting the same error. How can I resolve this error?
Installing .NET Framework 4.7.2 fixed this issue for me
I am running Visual Studio Professional 2013 to create Azure Cloud websites using Azure 2.4.
This has been running fine without issues for months, and then all of a sudden on my home machine, I am getting the above error and all my Azure Cloud Service projects in all my existing solutions are listed as incompatible with my version of the software. If I try and create a new Azure Cloud Service project, it just outright fails.

Visual Studio -> Help Menu -> About - Shows this error window:
"The 'CctProjectPackage' package did not load correctly."
File -> New -> Project -> Azure Cloud Service -> OK -> OK -> Shows a window with the message:
"'C:\etc\etc...\AzureProject.ccproj' cannot be opened because its project type (.ccproj) is not supported by this version of the application."
I have tried:
A full uninstall of Visual Studio 2013 Professional. Then reinstalled.
Removed all optional packages and reinstalled.
Repaired Visual Studio 2013 Professional and Azure Tools 2.4.
Tried various command line commands such as reinstalling the templates, manually registering the AzureDiagnostics.dll and resetting Visual Studio 2013 Professional.
Cleaned registry.
Installed to a new directory.
One thing which surprised me, was that when I installed a different version of Visual Studio 2013 (for example the Web Express version). Everyone worked. But, not in my Visual Studio 2013 Professional.
Eagerly await your reply and assistance, many thanks.
I had the same problem after windows 10 updated.
I was able to fix it by following these steps:
Close Visual Studio
Open the Users\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\ folder
Rename the ComponentModelCache folder
Restart Visual Studio.
Hope it helps... :)
So I resolved this by re-installing Windows 8.
That is about as a legitimate solution to this issue, as fixing a broken air-con by buying a new car, is. But in the end continuing to troubleshoot this was time prohibitive.
This can also be solved by repairing the install of Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio.
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features (appwiz.cpl)
Select Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio from the list of installed programs, click change and repair. When if completes, reboot (if prompted) and the issue should be gone.
I am very new to F# and F# on visual studio.
I just created a F# application and created a class, when I try with F# interactive window it works fine, When I build the application it gives fallowing three errors
FSharp.Core.sigdata not found alongside FSharp.Core FSC

Please advice me how it can be sorted.
For Visual Studio 2012 to work properly in Windows 8.1 you have to install VS2012 Update 3 after upgrading to Windows 8.1.
We have a Visual Studio solution that contains some VC++ projects, and we've currently upgraded to Visual Studio 2012 from VS2010. In the process we also lifted the VC++ projects to PlatformToolset v110.
On our build server (Jenkins), we would like to build this project with MsBuild without having to install VS2012. But I can't get it to work, and I think it's because the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\V110 must be present.
This folder and its contents is created during installation of VS2012, but as far as I can tell it won't be included in either the Windows SDK 7.1 or Windows SDK 8.0?
Is there any other SDK or installation package that can help with this issue?
I know it's not really without installing Visual Studio 2012, but:
If licensing costs are the biggest driver perhaps the Express for Windows Desktop edition could be an alternative. You could keep the installation to the minimum required to support C++ builds.
When trying to access the settings for the remote desktop connections in my Azure project Visual Studio 2010 SP1 hangs until forced to close. I installed the new Azure SDK (november 2011) and the problem persists. The problem occurs either by checking the box or clicking "Settings.." in the Publish window (I tried to post a screenshot but unfortunately my reputation is too low.. ;-) )
I enabled the logging in Visual Studio and got the following entries:

I'll be happy to provide more information if it's helpful.
I recreated what was my problem and solved it. Steps:
1.Add a certificate.
1.1 In the web-role project, open the configuration file under Roles and then select Certificates in the left menu.
1.2 Click Add Certificate. (just leave it as it is created).
1.3 Save.
2. Try to open Remote desktop configuration.
2.1 Visual Studio hangs.
3. Solve it.
3.1 Restart Visual studio.(Always as administrator).
3.2 Remove the certificate.
3.3 Try to open Remote desktop configuration.
3.4 It should now work. Well.. It does for me.
Really need more information to troubleshoot this. Can you capture a hang dump when this happens and open the dump and let us see the callstack that is hanging?
You could also try running procmon and procexp to see if you see any errors in them:
