How can I get a list of the most visited current user's sites via chrome api?
I try to make custom speed dial page.
RTFM See the API list at https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/api_index
Use the chrome.topSites API to access the top sites that are displayed on the new tab page.
Do note that Chrome will not provide thumbnails for the sites.

Is there a way to get the URL of the page that linked to the page on my current tab using any of the Chrome APIs? For example if I search for "recursion" on google, and click on the first result, is there a way for a chrome extension to know the page that linked to the current page I'm on, (in this example www.google.com)?
When a user clicks a link to my site inside their LinkedIn app it doesn't take them to Safari or Chrome, it keeps them in an internal LinkedIn browser.
If the user then tries to create an account via Google OAuth they get the following error (see image).
Is there a way to prevent LinkedIn from opening a link in their proprietary browser, and take them to Safari or Chrome automatically? Or another workaround for this issue?
Neither you can restrict LinkedIn to open your site in other browser nor to stop google to throw the error. To solve this problem, You have to write a script which will open your website in the default browser of the user's device. Whenever user hit your website then check the web browser if it's chrome, safari or any other web browser then continue the request else force the user to open website in user's default browser using the script. That's it.
Hope this suggestion will help you.
I want to retrieve the URL after opening an external website pop up in my ReactJS/NodeJS application. Basically in my application, I have a button that redirects the page to microsoft online login page. What I want is the URL of the page after the user logs into microsoft online.
Is there any way that's possible? If so, what are my options?
If you navigate to another webpage, your React application is no longer being served to your browser, and can't do anything. You would need to have a script running on the microsoft website, either by writing it in the source code (which I doubt you can do) or by some other method such as a browser extension.
There is no way to track different systems like methods #izb mentioned, if they already dont provide.
Many systems provides information from their servers, push/ping systems.
One of the payment systems, I redirect request, customer pays, and they redirects the page I entered before in their panel, like successful or fail pages.
Is it possible to create a checkin by allowing a user to click on button in a html page that takes them to a share location (checkin page)?
I am thinking- something like the twitter share url?
for example-
http://foursquare.com/share/?venue_id=12345
I want this functionality in order to allow users to swipe their nfc phone on a smart tag and it loads a html page with different options
On an Android-based or iOS-based mobile device, you can use special formed URLs in order to start the Foursquare application viewing the desired venue: https://developer.foursquare.com/resources/client
The URL https://m.foursquare.com/venue/#venue_id# (e.g. https://m.foursquare.com/venue/4b477346f964a520723226e3) can either be opened by the installed Android Foursquare App or opened by a normal browser (or other Intent receivers registered for that URL).
You can further use the URL https://foursquare.com/mobile/checkin?vid=#venue_id# to get to the mobile page, where you can just press "check in" or enter a shout. By checking-in via the mobile page (and not the app), you do not get points and are not able to earn Mayorships (see Foursquare support).
But you can, for example, create your own web app that accesses the Foursquare API and performs the check-in for the OAuth'ed users. By using the HTML5 Geolocation feature, you can also send the mobile device's Lat/Lon coordinates to your web app and perform valid check-ins that also count for Mayorships, etc. A good start is Foursquare's developer page: https://developer.foursquare.com/overview/
I want to create chrome extension that will show only the top stories from google news page. Now through permission in menifest will I be able to get the required div of google news page ?
You can get information on any page if you request corresponding domain permissions in manifest. Instead of parsing google news html it probably would be easier to parse its rss feed instead (if there is one).
