Excel only identiy first argument in my formula - excel-formula

in my list of data, i either have 18 or 180 in cell A2 and I am trying to get cell A2 to multiply by B2.
My formula is:
=if(isnumber(search(18, A2)), A2*B2, if(isnumber(search(180, A2)), A2*B2,""))
However, when i do a find, it will only find 18 and not 180. How do I resolve this?
Kindly assist please.

Given what you want to do in your example I find this easier to read:
=IF(OR(18=A2;180=A2);A2*B2;"")
You probably wanted to do different things if you found 18 or 180. In that case you have to search for 180 first because the string "180" contains "18":
=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH(180; A2));-A2*B2; IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH(18; A2)); A2*B2; ""))
This also finds 1802 2180, 218, 182, 0,18 etc.

Extract number from column

i have a lot of address data in (mostly) this format:
Karl-Reimann-Ring 13, 99087 Erfurt
Markttwiete 2, 23611 Bad Schwartau
Hüxstraße 55, 23552 Lübeck
Bunsenstraße 1c, 24145 Kiel
and my goal is to extract the zip code.
I copied a formula from a website, which i dont really understand:
=VERWEIS(9^9;1*TEIL(E2861&"#";SPALTE(2860:2860);6))
VERWEIS = LOOKUP,
TEIL = MID,
SPALTE = COLUMN
This formula seems to work 99% of the time, also for the ones above, but for some i get weird results.
Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 56, 55124 Mainz --> 44340
Kleine Früchtstraße 6, 55130 Mainz --> 44346
Bahnstraße 1, 55128 Mainz --> 44344
All with 'Mainz' are wrong and start with 44xxx
But when i increase the last argument from 6 to 7 it seems to work.
Do somebody know, how i can impove this formula to get always the correct zip code?
The problem is that the formula will return the last "number" which is constructed of 6 character strings starting at every character in the string.
The last substring that can be interpreted numerically (in the 55424 Mainz address) is actually 24 Mai. German Excel will parse that into 24 Mai 2021 which, as a number, will be 44340.
One modification you can make to your formula, to prevent that from happening, would be to add a comma after the zipcode. eg:
=LOOKUP(9^9;1*MID(SUBSTITUTE(A1;" ";",") & "#";COLUMN(2860:2860);6))
Another option would be to use FILTERXML where you can separate by spaces, and then return the last numeric node:
=FILTERXML("<t><s>" &SUBSTITUTE(A1;" ";"</s><s>") & "</s></t>";"//s[number(.) = number(.)][last()]")

Excel - How can I shorten this formula

I wrote a formula which exceeds 8192 characters and I really need to reach the result of the formula. Actually it is repetetive calculation for different conditions. I'm sure when you see the formula you will get the idea. But there is short explanation below:
There are 10 different sources and regarding choosen source formula should work.
Regarding choosen currency I need to get result of related calculation.
Right now it is 10.290 chars.
Since this is my first question and I'm kinda new on Excel any help would be appreciated.
*Expected result need to be shown on "unit price" column and different for each item.

Taking your formula, splitting out the first part of the IFERROR, and eliminating the spurious code (i.e. IF(A=1, IF(B=2, IF(A=1, ALWAYS_TRUE, ALWAYS_FALSE), C), D) is functionally identical to IF(A=1, IF(B=2, ALWAYS_TRUE, C), D)), I then built the following table:
The Red, Blue and Green text are Common Terms, present in every formula.
Examining this, and rearranging it slightly, I spot the following patterns:
When D7 is "USD", Divide by $N$2
When D7 is "EURO", Divide by $N$3
When H29 is "USD", Multiply by $N$2
When H29 is "EURO", Multiply by $N$3
Implicitly, the following rules also exist:
When D7 is "TL", Divide by 1
When H29 is "TL", Multiply by 1
I can use a VLOOKUP to pick which cells to use, resulting in the form VLOOKUP(H29,..) * (Common_Terms) / VLOOKUP(D7,..)
This allows me to rewrite your Value as follows:
IF(AND(core!$D$11=1,$F15>0), IF(AND(MATCH(core!$D$11,{"TL","USD","EURO","*"},0)<4, MATCH(core!$H$29,{"TL","USD","EURO","*"},0)<4), VLOOKUP(core!H$29,{"USD",core!$N$2;"Euro",core!$N$3;"TL",1},2,FALSE)*(core!$I29 + core!$I29*core!$F29 + core!$I29*core!$g29)/VLOOKUP(core!H$29,{"USD",core!$N$2;"Euro",core!$N$3;"TL",1},2,FALSE), ""), FALSE)
Which is a third of the length. You should be able to manage similar optimisation of almost every IF condition you have.
More importantly, a lot of your repeated (and unnecessary) IF conditions are checking if H29 and D7 are "TL"/"USD"/"EUR", or checking that F15>0. You can eliminate these by making your outermost IF statement look like this:
=IF(AND($F15>0, MATCH(core!$D$7, core!$D$11, {"TL","USD","EURO","*"},0)<4, MATCH(core!$H$29, {"TL","USD","EURO","*"},0)<4), ALL_THREE_CONTITIONS_ARE_TRUE, "")

Excel - insert cell ending with a certain condition

How can I create a general formula to filter a range based on certain criteria?
Lets say I have the following items in column A:
45c-36
45c-37
45c-38
485
645b-15
645b-16
954r
From this I only want to see cells that ends with 37, 15 and all cells without - (like 485 and 954r).
So I will end up with only the below in one column:
45c-37
485
645b-15
954r
I have tried:
=IF(RIGHT(A1;1)="37";A1;"")
However, it doesn't really seem to work out with values without -, and it also becomes very complicated.
Hope you can help me.
How about this?
=IF(OR(RIGHT(A1, 2) = "37", RIGHT(A1, 2) = "15", NOT(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("-", A1)))), A1, "")

Using the isnumber() function in Excel and Formatting Issue

I have a list of values, some being integers and some being non-integers. I would like to return the values that are integers. My idea:
if(ISNUMBER(C1)=TRUE,C1,0)
The data is laid out as so
88
Francesc Fabregas
m
86
Andrey Arshavin
a
86
Therefore I would only return the 88, 86, and 86. 88 is in cell C1.
Update: THE CELLS HAVE THE VALUES STORED IN THEM AS TEXT. HOW MIGHT I CHANGE ALL THE CELLS FORMATTING TO NUMBERS?
Try:
=IFERROR(--C1,"")
It will try to multiply -1*-1 to the value, if it is like a number it will return the number but if not it will error out and return "".
If you are using 2003 or later then use:
=IF(ISERR(--C1),"",--C1)
To do it in place highlight the range and you will see a little box in the upper left corner:
Hit that button and you will have a drop down list of option. Choose the "Convert to Number" option.
The NUBMERVALUE() function converts text to numbers. So the formula
=IF(ISNUMBER(NUMBERVALUE(D14)), NUMBERVALUE(D14), 0)
would turn your data to
88
0
0
86
0
0
86

Excel query regarding IF statements

I think this should be a fairly quick question, hopefully!
I would like to add a line to the following formula, after the line that says IF C6 =0,0 that if B6 is equal to W, the result should be 9.95:
=IF(C6=0,0,
MAX(SUM(IF(F6<=0,0,39),
IF(F6>30,(C6*0.08),
IF(F6>20,(C6*0.07),
IF(F6>10,(C6*0.06),
IF(F6>5,(C6*0.05),
IF(F6>2,(C6*0.04),
IF(F6>1,(C6*0.03),
IF(F6>=0.25,(C6*0.02),
IF(F6>=0,(0.03*C6*F6),0))))))))),43))
Basically, the first thing it should look for is that if C6 is 0, the result should be 0 - but if C6 > 0, then to check B6 for the letter 'W', and if that is true, then to display 9.95, otherwise to go along with the remainder of the formula.
Try this:-
=IF(C6=0,0,
IF(B6="W",9.95,
MAX(SUM(IF(F6<=0,0,39),
IF(F6>30,(C6*0.08),
IF(F6>20,(C6*0.07),
IF(F6>10,(C6*0.06),
IF(F6>5,(C6*0.05),
IF(F6>2,(C6*0.04),
IF(F6>1,(C6*0.03),
IF(F6>=0.25,(C6*0.02),
IF(F6>=0,(0.03*C6*F6),0))))))))),43)))
