Really dumb question but it's annoying me because my VS2012 use to work like this:
When I run debug on the web application it used to open the current selected webform in the editor in the web browser.
Now the only way to change which one opens in the browser is that I must go to the webform I am busy on and click "Set As Start Page".
This makes it quite hard when I am working on multiple pages.
Please can someone tell me what setting I must change in VS to get it to work like it use to?
To change the startup options of a web application goto:
Project->Properties->Web-> Select Current Page.

I am creating a custom advanced PDF/HTML template. I switched between WYSIWYG editor and source code editor and maybe saved. So now my template no longer shows up properly when try to preview it.
Does anyone know how I can fix this so that the preview shows my
changes as I make them?
Can anyone suggest what I can use going
forward so this doesn't happen to me again (ex: an IDE where I can
preview before moving code into NetSuite)?
Also, I did not save my source code before editing it since I thought NS was just making a
copy of the code in the custom template. So if anyone knows where I can get a copy of the
original source code for the original template that may help as well.
Thanks in advance for any help.
To answer your third question, I am assuming you started from one of the standard Advanced PDF/HTML templates and hit customize? If so, you should be able to get the source code for the standard template the same way: hit customize, then switch to source code view.
Remember that NetSuite does warn you that once you switch to source code, switching back may not work for that template. I generally switch to source code mode and do all my work in that mode. I use a sample transaction to preview the changes, or hit the "preview" button in the template editor.
I am not aware of any editor that will let you preview this in WYSIWYG mode, but I use Visual Studio Code to edit the templates. They now also have a SuiteCloud integration plug in, but it's a bit buggy. WebStorm is probably ok, but is not free. There is also Eclipse which is free, but they are deprecating its NetSuite plug in, and the upload to account functions don't work anymore because of the security enhancement to authentication.
We are trying to automate the installation testing using UFT.
But, UFT is not capturing the installshield screens when we click on record.
Any suggestions?
It is just showing empty test case when we click on record.
Even manual creation of scripts also not showing.
Installshield setup.exe uses internally msiexec.exe.
Does it effect anything as the background process name is changing?
Have you selected Record and run test on any open Windows-based application in the Record -> Record and Run Settings?
If you have and it still doesn't work, it may be that the installation is running in a higher security level than UFT.
You could try using UFT's Insight option in order to work around this.
I have a local instance of Acumatica 2018 R2 that I am using for development and when I try to edit a Customization Project it is not pulling in the specific project and ID.
Local instance of the Custom Project editor
Where it says "Project" in the top left, it should say "Test5".
Here is how the editor should look:
Production Instance Custom Project Editor
I believe that I've configured my IIS setting correctly but I can't get it to perform correctly.
I've seen that happen before. It appears to be an Ajax glitch. When the customization project editor opens it displays Project as a placeholder first. Then an Ajax call fetch the proper project name to replace the template placeholder text.
There isn't much to do to resolve this issue. I suggest using a different web browser (Chrome seems to handle Ajax more reliably) and possibly issuing an IISReset command on the web server or if you don't have access to server a restart application from the apply updates page.
I am working on a ASP.NET MVC project in Visual Studio.
Since today I see am seeing every now and then
a dialog window "Connect to SQL Server" that uses {0} as user name:
I always click Cancel as the user name is just a place holder. It is read - as the rest of the database configuration - from Web.config.
The documentation just states:
This dialog box appears when specific access permission is required
for the current database process.
I believe I do not need this access. How can I prevent Visual Studio from showing this dialog?
PS: I do not want to remove the configuration from Web.config as it is needed by my project.
After a little debugging, it turned out that it was the awesome Meene VS Tools 2017 extension which caused this problem. Specifically, the Enable tasks provider option. Just disabling it helped to get rid of the nasty dialog. Maybe one could also add the Web.config to the Excluded file name patterns to fix the problem. Since I do not use the tasks, I did not try though.
On my sharepoint site I am unable to add an existing basic webpart to a page where I've added webparts before. I am a site owner. I am using IE 8. I also work remotely using VPN.
The strange thing is IE won't even open up the EDIT MODE.
When I use Google Chrome, it is able to open up EDIT MODE, and it was also able to open up the Add Web Part popup, but when you actually select a web part and press ADD...nothing gets added to the main page.
The extra strange thing is from Google Chrome, I am able to delete and modify existing webparts.
I've upgraded to IE 9 and the same issue still happens.
i assume the similar issue you would be facing with firefox it seems your css is not compliant with IE8 try using ie8 in campatibility mode or use following querystring parameter at end of ur url
toolpaneview=2 and see what is the result
I had that problem and it appeared that a CSS file was messing up with the Ribbon controls.
Try to disable a CSS file at a time.

Pedro
We had this issue (or at least a very similar one) where, in edit page mode, clicking on 'Add a Web Part' had no effect. I was assuming that it is a JavaScript issue. In, I beleive, the same day, it effected both my Production and DEV Site Collections, in IE8, Firefox and Chrome. We restarted all of our servers and ran the config wizard. No good.
We were able to create new pages which seem to be uneffected.
For an existing page, our workaround is to edit the properties of the page, then, down at the bottom, select 'Open Page in Maintenance View'. Select one of the Web Parts and Close it. Note: It seems as though if you unselected the 'Allow Close' checkbox, it wont be on this list. Then click on the 'Go Back to Web Part Page'. Click on the zone where the closed Web Part was. You may now be able to 'Add a Web Part'. If so, the last Web Part folder on the left will be 'Closed Web Parts' which I beleive you can put back (Open) the closed Web Part.
I have see this issue occur when someone else has the current page open in edit mode. Until that person either checks in or undoes there checkout you will not be able to edit the page.
