I found a problem with indexed search. I have news entries with different categories. Each newsentry can have several categories. When I am searching the newsentry is found several times, because it is found in several categories. I could not find a workaround that indexed search only displays one entry if it is in several categories.
When creating a content element containing the plugin for the news list you can access several configuration options. One is called "Exclude already displayed news" (on 'Additional'-Tab). Did you try this?

i have an intranet (which is my main website) and a several sub-websites, which refers to the departments of the company. I need to add a list with people related to department of the current web-site. The list can be the same view of the SharePoint native search.
I find this component (Search Results), which i was able to add my criterias (like people which department is equals to "HR"), and i get the right results. However, i couldn't find an way to make the view similar to the results of the image above.
Somebody can help me? Thanks
Edit:
I've changed the configurations to use "People Item" display index. Firstly, i had to import a javascript file. Then, even though that i had the right results, the properties aren't filled in the fields of the display item (as is shown in the image below).
For my website I have a category which contains articles related to FAQ items. The standard search function searches the whole site and offers no personalization.
I need to search only in one specific category with a search module in Joomla , what would the easiest way to do that?
I have tried Smart Search, unchecking all other categories and indexing again. Still, results from other categories show up in the Smart Search module. Also I have seen the Filter option in the Smart Search module, but I haven't found out how that should work.
I am using Joomla 3. Any suggestions are appreciated!
It seems I have solved my question myself.
My solution was to add a filter at the Manage Smart Search page on the Search Filters tab, then choosing the category I wanted to search in.
Then, in the smart search module you choose that particular filter and you will only search in that particular category!
I would like to query two or three terms in order to locate them in Wikipedia´s entries. Specifically, I´m trying to see if some terms get repeated in the first paragraphs (abstract) across entries. Could be direct or through dbpedia. Thanks
Using Mediawiki API you can find articles that contain those keywords.
Try the API:Search documentation.
For doing what you want to do, also, you'd probably need to find the articles that have those keywords and then parse the text to check if they are in the first paragraphs.
With this:
?action=parse&page=Nicolas_Cage&prop=text§ion=0
you can get the HTML of the first section of a page (see this post).
I have around 300 Reporting Services reports in SharePoint 2013, total, in ten different folders (by department), but my sales team's folder has around 100 of those and they find it difficult to remember which ones they care about and quickly navigate to them. Is there a way they can easily set up a list or some sort of page within SharePoint that points to the reports they care about?
You can tag/index your documents and then create a list and a view to that list that show documents that are indexed with a certain tag. For example shows only documents that contains the tag "important"
Create a Document library and add Document link content type. In this way you can manage the links on different views.
You can use metadata while making any entry in a list. So when you are creating any list make a use of that metadata and show only those list items which contains that tag.
Please correct me if i understand your question wrong
Thanks
In SharePoint Designer I use some lists as sources and then link them together with an operation GetListItems (I fetch items from multiple lists on different site collections for rollup/aggregation):

Now something is fine as I managed to get the result: alt text http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/4835/ss20090428101013.png
But the strings that are attached to field result (6;#, 2;#) is... disturbing.
How can I get rid from those attached strings? They are not attached to all fields, but to some (important ones):

Ahh, well usally that happens - you keep searching for answer, then seek for help and find it yourself.
I used substring xsl function, to strip away those first characters. Messy, if i want to add links to that table, but works.

By the way, the main question how to rollup content from multiple site collections has been journey to me for several days already. If anyone is in the same situation, I recommend (well because I found myself an answer there) these:

collections on a page

site collection: SharePoint
