Recently I decided to write a very simple Google Chrome extension. All it's going to do is to hide some DOM-elements from the web-page using JavaScript when user presses the extension's button.
Since I knew nothing about Chrome extensions, I started reading tutorials, and I came across this Google's sample: A browser action with no icon that makes the page red
This sample is really close to what I want to make. The problem is that I can't make it work. Whenever I load the extension in Chrome, I can see the button of this extension, but when I press it - nothing happens. Sample doesn't work, probably I should know something I don't know yet.
And before you started asking me:
Yes, I tried restarting the browser;
I use the newest version of Chrome.

If you open up the sample zip... find backgrond.js... edit.
Find the line that says:
null, {code:"document.body.style.background='red !important'"});
and remove the "!important". so it should read:
null, {code:"document.body.style.background='red'"});
That is it. just save and reload the extension, should work (unless the page has an !important flag set to the background).
I am afraid I don't know why the "!important" tag doesn't work but I have never been able to get it to work in an extension. Hopefully someone else here will be able to give an explanation and maybe a work around.
I think I can help bring some clarification to the "!important" override attribute causing the extension to break. Though I am not 100% I believe that this attribute is not allowed for issues involving security complications. I have a link to another SO thread that may help clarify this as well.
My CSS is not getting injected through my content script
I'm assuming from reading this article that you must either use the !important override when content scripts specified in the manifest file. Otherwise if the css is being injected !important is not required. Again not 100% on this.
I would like to add pythonhelper to vim-powerline, using MacVim.
There is an issue that discusses this on github, but although the issue is closed the resolution was not clear.
What is the best way to go about doing this?
What's a good text editor in Windows that automatically updates the view whenever the opened file has been modified by another process? I need this to watch the output of my program.
If you like using a mouse, Notepad++ is great
If you're happier with the keyboard, for me, it has to be Emacs. Here's the download for Windows.
To use the feature in Emacs, add the following to your .emacs:
(global-auto-revert-mode t)
There are lots of people at work who like Textpad but I don't understand why, it doesn't even have column editing.
Notepad++ has this feature.
If you want to reload automatically, go to Settings / Preferences, then the MISC tab and uncheck Update silently under File Status Auto-detection.
What I use is snaketail. It can update in real time several files, even without the focus.
I would recommend Notepad2. It refresh the content automatically without focus switching. You just need to go to menu 'Settings' and set 'File Change Notification...' option, and then save your settings. But keep in mind, refresh has a delay about 2-3 seconds.
Editplus is great.
This doesn't really answer your question, but it sounds like what you really want is some kind of console view, not a file. Would it be possible to pipe your program's output into an output stream that's visible in a console instead? Those are designed to show new lines as they arrive, automatically scroll, etc.
See the Viewer (F3 option) in FAR file manager, when End button is pressed, it updates and scrolls text automatically
Use Tail For Windows.
Tail doesn't need to have focus on.

I have read a few guides and they say to edit overall_footer.tpl? Which I'm guessing is the same as overall_footer.html and when I edit that I don't see any changes on my webpage?
If you make any changes to the templates it might be necessary to empty out your cache and refresh things. What are you trying to change in your footer?
Hi all i have a question. I have the wysiwyg module installed and i think configured the correct way but there is one problem. After writing my content in the editor the content doesnt show up in my blog posts.
Any one having the same problem ?.
Guys i have solved my own problem here. It turns out that i had a faulty filter turned on.
