How do you use the Azure Media Services REST API? - azure

All of the examples I find for building apps with Azure Media Services are using the .NET Azure Media Services SDK. Are there any reliable examples anywhere that showcase how to consume their REST APIs?
The reason I'm asking is that I need to leverage the services in Xamarin, and we can't use the .NET Azure Media Services SDK because it would not be portable across all three major mobile OSes.

Are you looking for examples consuming REST API in .NET?
General rest API references located at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/hh973617.aspx.
You can find examples of REST requests for various azure media services scenarios under MSDN section http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/hh973629.aspx

How can I add static HTML pages in the Azure Developer Portal to display some documentation text?

I need to add pages (kind of static web pages) in Azure APIM Developer Portal to display documentation. Is there any tutorial to explain how to achieve it?
Is there a way I can read the text content from REST API calls and populate the pages in Dev portal?
I believe the issue is more or less similar to this where you are trying to update documentation properly at Azure Api Managment developer portal.
In that case, as mentioned in the thread, you can try with swagger but in APIM portal it might not work immediately. Microsoft product team has confirmed that they working on improvig support for OpenAPIv3. The ETA is about end of September.
However, you may also check the self-hosted gateway feature
The self-hosted gateway feature expands API Management support for hybrid and multi-cloud environments and enables organizations to efficiently and securely manage APIs hosted on-premises and across clouds from a single API Management service in Azure.

Api Apps Vs Api Management

I am looking for scalable hosting for an API but I am getting a little confused with Azure. Ideally I want something that means I don't have to manage OS updates and security, just deploy my API code.
Is this possible with Azure? What do I need to sign up for?
In general, you are looking for the Platform as a service offer. Check What is PaaS?. For the API deployment you should check the Azure App Services. Azure API Management is for advanced API management or when you want to expose multiple APIs using a single gateway.

How to build a Rest API on Azure for a Documentdb database with Node.js

I have already created a Documentdb database and now i should build a REST API on Azure with Node.js. I have read the documentation, but i did't understand it good enough.
Cloud services could be a good solution, but if i didn't misunderstand, it is Python and .NET based.
If i want to build a REST API and an user interface voor the REST API, which services should i better use? Web apps? API apps? Or any another product?

Per Azure's documentation,
An API app can take advantage of features offered by Web Apps and Mobile Apps. The reverse is also true: if you use a web app or mobile app to host an API, it can take advantage of API Apps features such as Swagger metadata for client code generation and CORS for cross-domain browser access. The only difference between the three app types (API, web, mobile) is the name and icon used for them in the Azure portal.
An API app and a Web app will equally work for you. Currently, all of Web, Mobile and API Apps are collectively called App Services. For most scenarios, Web Apps is the best choice.

Windows Azure Mobile Services management API

Is there any management API in Windows Azure Mobile Services?
For example: methods to create mobile services or data tables.
There's a Mobile Service Management API however it is not publicly available yet. One thing you could do is take a look at the source code for Windows Azure CLI tools and figure out how this API has been implemented. You can view the source code on GitHub: https://github.com/WindowsAzure/azure-sdk-tools-xplat.

Azure vs .NET Services

I am a little confused about two new technologies receiving a lot of buzz currently;
Can somebody please explain to me what the difference (or similarities) are between Azure and .NET Services?
Are they one and the same thing?
Is Azure the Cloud OS that my .NET Services run in?
Is .NET Services a component that makes up the greater Azure vision?
Thanks
You've basically got it right that .NET Services is a component that makes up part of the Azure platform. Check out the Azure Services graphic for a visual representation of the components.
Azure is composed of the operating environment and the base services that are used to host cloud applications. It provides the base capabilities (web and worker processes) as well as the simple data storage offerings.
.NET Services are the services that many applications will use to create cloud scale applications, although originally the services were mostly geared toward enterprise development. It includes the access service and service bus.
There are also a few other services that are provided:
SQL Azure is the SQL Server for the cloud offering. It is used like a regular SQL Server instance, for the most part, but is hosted and sericed by Microsoft.
Live Services are consumer focused services that make use of many Microsoft services: Mesh, Live ID, Messenger, etc.
One thing to note is that, although these services are offered as part of the Azure platform, the .NET Services should be usable from any platform. The are REST based services that can be consumed by any application that has the ability to call REST services.
Windows Azure is a cloud services operating system that drivers the Azure Platform, which is an open platform that supports/will support multiple Microsoft and non-Microsoft languages and evironments. Azure Platform
.Net Services are a set of libraries that aid in working with the Azure cloud based infrastructure services available. .Net Services
