I've installed Eclipse Luna on my Debian machine and recognized that Eclipse looked like all other Gnome applications.
I had Gnome installed, but I'm using KDE and don't like applications to look like Gnome.
I removed all gnome libraries, but Eclipse still looks the same. Is there any way to remove the Gnome theme from Eclipse?
it seems that there is no such a way to totally get rid of Gnome theme from Eclipse, but you can install some compatible tools to make KDE render appearance built on GTK, for example, gtk3-engines-oxygen and gtk2-engines-oxygen (Oxygen is your KDE desktop theme).
If you are using other themes, you can use the following command to search out the exact software name:
aptitude search gtk3-engines

I have a pre-installed IntelliJ IDEA 2018 with all my code running on it on Windows 7.
I want to somehow use the same version of the installation instead of reinstalling the software again on linux and setting up all the libraries and the paths to my code again.
Is there a way that i can use that installation of IntelliJ on Windows in linux, too?
I have the software installed in D: Drive.
As suggested in the comment, i had to go through a separate installation for linux and then import settings by using setting sync plugin https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/sharing-your-ide-settings.html
I've installed Eclipse Java EE (eclipse-jee package from AUR) on Arch Linux. Also I've installed some Eclipse plugins via Eclipse Marketplace. After re-installing Eclipse I fond that all the plugins I've installed before are still displayed in Eclipse Installation Details. Why?
To remove eclipse I used the pacman -Rns command, which removes all unneeded dependencies and configuration files. I also removed ~/.eclipse and ~/.conf/eclipse folders but plugins still appear in Installation Details. And the trick is they are not really installed, but just displayed in Installation Details.
Okay, it's not a big deal to remove them manually but I'm just wondering where do Eclipse store plugins/information about plugins? Because theoretically it can only write to user's home folder.
Try the following files:
[eclipse_location]/configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info
[eclipse_location]/configuration/org.eclipse.update/platform.xml
I am following the inspiring example here to setup Vim for R development. One difference is that I am running Vim and R on a remote server via ssh session. And this ssh starts byobu, which has tmux started automatically whenever I login. What I want is to make an Vim-R-Dev command/alias so that:
After logging in with the ssh and tmux is already running, I can type Vim-R-Dev to open up a window with panes look like in the attached image:
Illustration of sending R code from several vim viewports (in middle)
to an R session (on top right). The vim session can run on a local
computer, while the R session can run on the same or a remote system.
The snapshot also illustrates the omni completion utility of the
vim-r-plugin (purple box), viewing of an R function help document in a
separate tmux pane (bottom right) and the NERDTree file browser
(left).
After a while of fumbling with Vim and R, I decided to quit this approach. My feeling was that the combination is not mature enough for production. So I tried to find and found EMACS + ESS. Yes, emacs is the rival to Vim as a programmer/geek editor. And it seems I am a traitor of Vim jump to Emacs when the two are at war :-) It doesn't have to be that way.
At first I installed emacs and ess plugin/package and tried to learn the basics. I was very happy about how ESS is much more mature than vimR. And the way emacs works with packages and configuration make me much more happy than when I used Vim. This is partly because I have some basic background and was willing to deal with ELISP, the LISP programming language variant that is made for Emacs. An advice for some one have Vim skills though: You'd better off install Evil package from the beginning so you have the power of quick editing in Vim but the whole pack of other wonderful things, i.e. robustness, fine customization, in-place documentation. I have discussed many things about Emacs and ESS here on stackoverflow.com and at emacs.stackexchange.com too. The essential setup for R programmer is:
Emacs, ESS, Evil, Helm*, auto-complete, auctex, polymode, r-autoyas. Following are full list of additional packages that I installed. The one that allows me to edit and run code on remote server is called tramp with X forwarding. I will post more on this if there are requests.

I'm trying to get a Mac Vim setup similar to my Windows gVim setup. I downloaded homebrew and installed Macvim with it, but when I run MacVim it comes up in a terminal and looks like regular Vim.
All I did in Windows was download gVim and I got some vimrc settings from a popular github repository so everything looks nicer and plugins were all set up for me. How can I achieve something similar with Mac?
I am relatively new to both Mac and Vim so help is appreciated.
MacVim comes with two executables: one is a regular windowed GUI application and the other is a command-line program. Both are bundled in the MacVim.app that you downloaded and installed in ~/Applications.
Double-clicking on the icon in the finder, clicking on the icon in the dock or choosing MacVim from the "Open with…" contextual menu should start the GUI.
Using someone else's setup is a very bad idea. Don't.
Vim is my favorite tool for programming in OSX, but my team mate all use NetBeans. Some of them use Eclipse Keymap. Any suggestion plug-in to enable VI command in NetBeans 6.5?

Does any IDE have a vi keybindings option?
Check jVi, a Vi emulator for NetBeans.
I've also found ViEx, the project seems to be pretty active...
jVi can be installed using the NetBeans plugin manager; from NB do
Menu>Tools>Plugins
Select the tab "Available Plugins", in search enter "jvi". First install "jVi for NB-xx Update Center", then you can install jVi.
