Installing VS2013 while working with VS2012 - visual-studio-2012

I wanted to run the setup for VS2013 Pro but I am also actively working with VS2012 because it is not weekend yet! It prompted me that I should stop VS2012 before installing Vs2013 or I will need to restart later.
Restarting is fine but I can't just stop working for an hour or so until VS2013 is installed. So do you know if the installation will go fine if I am actively working, debugging in VS2012 at the same time?

No!
At some point of installation it will automatically shut down your VS2012.

I did the same thing and have experienced no issues. I did a clean reboot (close all apps) as soon as the installation was completed, and then went back to working in VS2012.
So I can't give you a definitive answer (your mileage may vary), but based on my previous experience I have no issue doing this exact again if the need would arise.

Android Studio editor not opening

I installed Android studio, already have jdk 1.8 but when i click on finish during the creation of new project(Customize the Activity) nothing happens, just nothing, what could be the problem.
You could try and restart your computer. Your computer probably needs a restart to fully complete the java installation. You will face this when installing a lot of programming languages. Plus restarting always fixes a lot of things so it couldn't hurt to try.

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when creating NEW Windows Phone project

I have Windows 8 x64 (not pro), VS2012 Pro Update 3, WP8 SDK and cannot create any new Windows Phone project.
I tried the following to no avail (in admin as well as non-admin accounts)
(numerous times, in different permutations)
Uninstall all Silverlight SDKs and components
Uninstall WP8 SDK
Uninstall all VS2012 components
Reboot
Clean registry
Reinstall VS2012 Pro \ Update VS2012 \ WP8 SDK (with reboots each time) Did not work
Reinstall VS2012 Pro \ WP8 SDK \ Update VS2012 (with reboots each time) Did not work.
Started devenv /ResetSettings (did not help)
Started devenv /ResetSkipPkgs (did not help)
Updated Silverlight (before\after all installs --different permutations)
Nothing helped. Exhausted all possible "solutions" listed on various sites.
I can open and run all other project types EXCEPT any of Windows Phone template projects. It does not even create a solution.
Only extensions are Microsoft Web Developer Tools. NuGet Package Manager and Visual Studio Extensions for Windows Library for JavaScript. Clean install, no third party extensions.
Nothing shows up under my Tools > Extensions and Updates > Updates (all updates done)
Finally able to create a new Windows Phone App project!!
Solution: UNINSTALLED NuGet (as updates to it did not work)
Since I am a new user, had to wait for 8 hours to be able to post this as an ANSWER
#MohamedThaufeeq, thanks for pointing to that direction. In my earlier attempts, I did not try to open a WinPhone app immediately after uninstalling NuGet. I did updates on it, did reinstalls of it, but did not remove it completely.
If there is a tools installation problem you can go into Control Panel's Programs, find the SDK there, and choose Repair. Then reboot your computer to play it safe. There are other threads in this forum related to SDK installation problems. Be sure to follow all the recommendations, including installing the SDK 8.0 last.

Regarding this error message in the context of having a problem with a specific project build, this can happen sometimes with the Xaml. In which case you can try a Clean build then a Rebuild.
Hope this helps...
There wasn't any updated for NuGet. But uninstalling it from (tool->Extensions and Updates) and then re-installing it worked for me.

Visual Studio 2012 Express is suddenly "incompatible with this version of Windows"?

I'm running Visual Studio Express 2012 on Windows 7. I've been running it with no problems for several months now.
Last Friday, when I shut down my PC, a lot of Windows updates were installed. This morning, when I started up and opened a VS2012 solution, I got this error message:
This program has known compatibility issues
...
Visual Studio 2012 Express for Windows Desktop is incompatible with this version of Windows.
There's a button for Run Program, and when I click it, the solution opens normally. I haven't changed anything about my Windows configuration. This happens every time I open a solution. Did MS release a flawed patch in the batch of updates that got applied last Friday?
EDIT: I'm not sure why people are voting to close this question. The answer that's been linked to isn't related to my issue; that answer seems to pertain to trying to open a VS2012 project in VS2010. I'm trying to open a VS2012 project in VS2012. If you really think that the question needs to be closed, please let me know why in the comments, so that I can change it appropriately.
The .NET updates installed on Friday were:
KB2805226
KB2805221
KB2804582
UPDATE: I gave up, more or less, and clicked the "Don't show this window again" checkbox on the error window. Visual Studio seems to be running ok.
I received the same message on Visual Studio 2012 Premium (on PC where Windows 7 re-installed in last month) - the suggested fix was "Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 (KB2781514)" which seems to have fixed it

Install Visual Studio 2012 Update 2 solved my problem. No previous update needed for this one. Here's the descriptions of the update.
(I'm using Windows 8, installed all important updates for Windows, then tried repair Visual Studio in Programs and Features, problem still here until installed Update 2.)
I've been running VS2012 for about 2 weeks now since I clicked the "Don't show this window again" button. I haven't encountered any problems. For now I'm going to consider this an adequate solution.
I've just installed VS2012 at home and came across the same problem. The 1st solution I found is that webdeploy doesn't work after Oct 2013 and I should install Web deploy V3.0.
Done that, no joy. I let Win7 search for compatibility solution on-line and it found an update patch (KB2781514) which did work.
This is the same solution as mentioned before by #John M.
Should've looked here first, just posting this again if someone comes across this again these days..
Thanks to all other users who helped with this thread.
I had a similar problem with VS2012 awhile ago it was along the lines of:
"this solution has no errors and could potentially be damaged"
*yet still opened fine.
as far as fixing it went I performed a clean install of VS2012 and the error has not bugged me since in saying that I am probably out of date at this time and may find if I updated I would have the same issue.
Food for thought.
Even i had the same problem on Windows 7 with Visual studio 2012.
Installed Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 -KB2781514 and it fixed the issue.
Note: "Just clicking on Run program was also opening up the solution file without any issues in my case."

Project dependencies not loading in Visual Studio 2012

I'm not sure if this is a add-on/extension issue but I'm having a heck of a time with Visual Studio 2012 on two computers. I believe it is DevExpress CodeRush causing the problems as it seems to work fine when I uninstall it but I'm not 100% sure.
I startup VS 2012, answer YES to the Get Latest from TFS 2012 and the solution right-click the solution node in the Solution Explorer and choose Project Dependencies... - it shows nothing checked. Of course the build will fail. I close and restart VS 2012 and then it shows. I typically do this through the course of the DevExpress option to clear the solution cache which causes the solution to reload.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may cause the project dependencies to get lost yet after a restart they are fine again? Is there something I need to delete and rebuild to try and resolve this?
The fix (so it seems) is to not check the option in VS source control settings to do a Get Latest when opening the solution. It seems to prevent the solution from initializing properly. I will consider reporting this to Microsoft Connect.
As I know CodeRush does not change anything in the Project Dependencies dialog. However you can write to DevExpress Support Center (http://www.devexpress.com/Support/Center) for a more detailed answer and research.
I also recommend you include a project and a video that illustrates the problem (if possible).
I was facing same issue. However got fixed after deleting .suo file from solution folder

web essentials 2012 crashes when I open a project that already has a file open

An interesting things is happening and I was hoping someone would be able to help me with it.
Visual Studio 2012 with Web Essentials installed was working fine until the latest update (the one where they removed less, coffeescript, etc.)
However since the update, I am having problems. This only happens when I open a project that has a file - which web essentials would act upon - already open.
If I close all of the tabs with cshtml/less/css files before I close a project. Then the next time I open that project, I am fine. I can even open those files, and web essentials kicks in with all of its extra features. But if even one of those files are open when the project was saved, and therefore opened automatically when the project is loaded, then the entire visual studio crashes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Found the issue after days and days of searching (only minutes after posting this question :))
The latest version of Web Essentials requires ASP.NET and Web Tools 2012.2
I had heard a lot about these Tools 2012.2 but I thought that they were an extension - maybe the "Microsoft Web Development Tools" installed automatically with visual studio or something that would get upgraded automatically with all of the auto updating software running on my machine.
So I tried updating all of the extensions and refreshing and refreshing and searching for updates - to no avail.
I even downloaded and installed VS2012 Update 2 CTP4 thinking that that must be this elusive update that everyone is talking about.
Well as I'm sure you guessed, its actually none of the above.
The link is http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=282650
It is listed on the home page of web essentials but not on the page that pops up when you run the update.
I hope this link helps someone.
