SharePoint 2013: hover on search result automatically starts downloading document - sharepoint

I have configured a search results webpart to show documents based on the search keywords.
As soon as I hover on any of the search result item, it automatically triggers download and asks weather to save the document or open it directly.
This issue is coming on IE.

I have come to find the root cause of the problem but not the solution(Will update when I get to the solution).
As it is an intranet portal, IE has its default security settings to medium-low(It is medium for internet sites).
Under medium-low security settings Allow Active-X filtering is disabled. Enabling it solved the issue.
PS: You can get to the settings by clicking on TOOLS->INTERNET OPTIONS->SECURITY->LOCAL INTRANET.

customize default search results shown on SharePoint Online Top Search

When you click on the default search box available at top of SharePoint Site, you see some default results shown by SharePoint.
I want to know the feature that enables/disables this behaviour.
And can we customize it further.
the bahavior
I tried going through the Search settings of site collection and Central admin.
No luck.
I found a thread for you that has the same need as yours:Avoid default results in Search Result Web Part
He solved the problem by adding \\{searchboxquery?} to the Search Results Web Parts content source, maybe it's worth a try for you.

Sharepoint Online - How set Document to open in Preview mode by default

I am working in SharePoint online and office 365. This is causing auto-save to save and change the modified date whenever a document is opened by someone with Edit privileges even if nothing is changed. I would like to set SharePoint to open documents in preview mode by default, then if the user wants to edit they can click to edit. Ideally, I would want to control this at the folder level but the site level would probably work.
You can try below option so that users will be forced to check out a document from a document library before they can make any edits. To enable automatic check out, go to Library Settings > Versioning Settings and switch Require documents to be checked out before they can be edited? to Yes. Click OK
check out a document in SharePoint
Next time anyone tries to edit any document in the library – they will be forced to check out a document.
If you log into the admin centre and select sharepoint in the left hand pane. Then select "Classic Sharepoint Admin Centre"
Select settings in the left hand pane.
Then next to preview features, select Enable preview features
Any issues just let me know

SharePoint site not getting indexed

Due to a requirement I have set the option "Allow this site to appear in search results?" to No. Later I have changed that options to Yes, but none of the site content are not retrieved by search. I have re-indexed the site and a list as well and still those are not indexed. Now 24 hours gone after making it to yes.
Appreciate if anyone can suggest a solution.
Could you check if your search account and content access that you use has FULL read access to your web applications. Also, make sure your read access to User profile service Applications as well as People search working.
And i see you've already have set "Allow this site to appear in search results?" to Yes.
Could you check if you set " Allow items from this document library to appear in search results?" to yes as well ?
Here are the steps on how to set up document library to appear in search results:
As an admin, locate the library that's missing from search results.
Click the gear icon () in the upper-right corner.
Select Library Settings.
Select Advanced Settings.
Make sure that Allow items from this document library to appear in
search results? is set to Yes.
After the setting is set to Yes, the library should be indexed during the next scheduled crawl.

The new extension is not visible in Store

I noticed that from December 1 published extensions are not visible on the page https://chrome.google.com/webstore/ and google after such indexing is visible? Could it be some sort of algorithm update?
Or is it a temporary error?
You may want to try Updating a web app's Chrome Web Store listing with these steps:
Open the web app script in the script editor.
Click Publish > Register in Chrome Web Store. Click Edit store item. This will bring up the Edit Item form you filled out during publication.
Make the changes you want to the description, graphic assets or other settings.
Click Publish changes.
Visit the Chrome Web Store developer dashboard to see the publication status of your web app. Note that the publication process can take up to an hour to finish. Once the "Status" column says "Published", your web app will be available in the store.
In addition to that, you may also check the possible reasons why your item may not be showing in search.
If any of the given links doesn't help, I suggest that you submit your issue.

Can't add webpart to SharePoint page

On my sharepoint site I am unable to add an existing basic webpart to a page where I've added webparts before. I am a site owner. I am using IE 8. I also work remotely using VPN.
The strange thing is IE won't even open up the EDIT MODE.
When I use Google Chrome, it is able to open up EDIT MODE, and it was also able to open up the Add Web Part popup, but when you actually select a web part and press ADD...nothing gets added to the main page.
The extra strange thing is from Google Chrome, I am able to delete and modify existing webparts.
I've upgraded to IE 9 and the same issue still happens.
i assume the similar issue you would be facing with firefox it seems your css is not compliant with IE8 try using ie8 in campatibility mode or use following querystring parameter at end of ur url
toolpaneview=2 and see what is the result
I had that problem and it appeared that a CSS file was messing up with the Ribbon controls.
Try to disable a CSS file at a time.

Pedro
We had this issue (or at least a very similar one) where, in edit page mode, clicking on 'Add a Web Part' had no effect. I was assuming that it is a JavaScript issue. In, I beleive, the same day, it effected both my Production and DEV Site Collections, in IE8, Firefox and Chrome. We restarted all of our servers and ran the config wizard. No good.
We were able to create new pages which seem to be uneffected.
For an existing page, our workaround is to edit the properties of the page, then, down at the bottom, select 'Open Page in Maintenance View'. Select one of the Web Parts and Close it. Note: It seems as though if you unselected the 'Allow Close' checkbox, it wont be on this list. Then click on the 'Go Back to Web Part Page'. Click on the zone where the closed Web Part was. You may now be able to 'Add a Web Part'. If so, the last Web Part folder on the left will be 'Closed Web Parts' which I beleive you can put back (Open) the closed Web Part.
I have see this issue occur when someone else has the current page open in edit mode. Until that person either checks in or undoes there checkout you will not be able to edit the page.
