I have created ASPX page and have used Data view webpart on it. I am trying to filter list items based on user Logon information without domain.
I have created a parameter(LOGON) and assigned server variable LOGON_USER (this gives me username as "Domain\username")
I basically want to filter list item( On column/field called user_names in list) based on "username" only and not checking domain with it.
As while filtering, I can only set list item field to be equal to parameter. I am thinking of creating another parameter and assign the value of that parameter to be substring-after($Logon,'\') but I am not able to do that in SharePoint Designer. I was also trying it through xslt filtering but that doesn't work too as that happen after data source gets created.
Use javascript to get the user name or to trim the user name before you send it to the URL as a parameter. Then the DVWP data source can be filtered correctly.
Or, use XSLT filtering, which indeed DOES work. You just need to know where to put it. Keep in mind that with XSLT filtering the data for all users will be returned by the query and the filter will only affect the rendering.
<xsl:template name="dvt_1">
<xsl:variable name="dvt_StyleName">Table</xsl:variable>
<xsl:variable name="Rows" select="/dsQueryResponse/Rows/Row[#UserName = $Logon]" />
Adjust to reflect your field names.

NetSuite custom list internal id for values is disabled by default. is there a way i can add my own id for the custom list values.
i am trying to create a custom record to save expense clain details for employee. i have many list to hold datas for diffrent category. it will be better insted of 1,2,3 i can give my own Internal id.
Brett's answer gives you a method by which you can change the text ID of the list, but you cannot change the internal ID of the list's values. This id is set automatically by NetSuite (or probably the underlying database) and is needed to ensure consistency of data within the application. Instead, consider converting the list into a custom record, which will allow you to create another field to use as an external ID, which you can add/update by CSV import (you need to use the Internal ID as key when doing this).
Once converted to a record, you could also add a new field to use as a reference, depending on how you're using it.
To convert to a record, simply check the Convert to Custom Record box on the list page shown in your screenshot and click Save.
Click the “Change Id” button
Enter the new value.
Click Save
Note: Netsuite will prefix the value you enter with ‘customlist’
I have an infopath form based on a sharepoint list (worktracker).
In that form there is a repeating section which holds data from a secondary source which is the worktracker list again.
I would like to filter that table using the value in a field on the form - this enables me to run a check on duplicate items on the list by using a calculated checking reference.
I have done this by using conditional formatting to hide the non-matching items but that this killing my form as IE throws tantrum as it takes too long.
Does anyone know another way to do this? I am stuck using IE8 - not my choice!
UPDATE:
So since posting the above, I had since tried using a REST connection which doesn't work as my list is too big. I have also tried using an XML connection to a filtered view and that didn't work either!
Cheers,
In the form, select the value field. Create a rule that sets the secondary data source's query field of the same name to that value. Then query the secondary data source. It will only return the items where the value matches.
In a webpart page I got a list that is filtered on a value given from another webpart.
When adding an item to that list (from this webpart page); is there a way to preset the column the list is filtered on to be the same as the filter value?
Thanks.

this link describes how to pre-fill field based on a query string variable. It can be useful for you, and if you add some modification to this solution your problem should be solved. The thing is that when you come to the part where you create the parameter for the "New item form" web part, you'll not specify to be a query string parameter. Instead it should be of type "None", and after that when you make the connections between the webparts you'll connect them in a way that they pass parameters to each other, not filters. I had some similar problem recently and made it work out in this way.
I have a document library where i have columns called Title and Category(is a lookup field) and User.Also,I have a list where i am just storing categories. I would like to join both document library and list so that i can dispaly all categories and the documents associated with it. once i get everything i would like to perform filtering so that it dispalys only selected user's documents.The displaying of the documents is working fine but not filtering. My questions is CAn we perform join between doc library and list? Plesae help me.
Thanks
The content query web part (CQWP)is probably the easiest way to do this without code. Since you only have one field in your lookup (categories) you don't need to do a join as SharePoint stores the lookup value in the Document Library. You will need to edit your CQWP to add this field, there is a good tutorial on doing this here. It also explains how to filter your CQWP.
Finally you will need to clean up your lookup field as SharePoint will store the value like this: 1;#Category1.
The CQWP uses XSLT to display the results so in your case you probably don't want to show 1;#Category1 you probably only want to show Category1. You can use the following XSLT to accomplish this:
<xsl:value-of select="substring-after(#Name_Of_Your_Lookup,'#')"></xsl:value-of>
I have a Data View Part pulling from a list that has a lookup column to another list (title linked by ID)
And somewhere in the XSLT of the data view web part configuration, it reads
<xsl:value-of select="#ColumnX"/>
Now since ColumnX is a reference to another list (linked to item), how do I go about obtaining the ID rather than the text? Is there a ddwrt trick out there?
The value of a Lookup Field is in the format of "ID;#Text". To get the ID value, we use is regular xslt:
<xsl:value-of select="substring-before(#ColumnX, ';#')" />
