Sublime Text Side Bar issue - text

first time using Sublime Text 2 and I dont have the side bar where you can upload the files that you plan on working with... is there something I need to do to access it? Do I absolutley need that bar to make a website? I want to use it because that is how I was taught and I don't really know any other way. Thanks in advance!

You can open the sidebar using command+k, and then command-b on a mac, or ctrl+k then ctrl+b on a pc.

Can anyone tell me a better and free alternative to sumblime text editor?

I am using sublime text editor for last few months...Recently I have decided to create a video tutorial...but the message that sublime shows (it is unregistered) is annoying...So can anyone tell me an alternative that works exactly like sublime (something that can ease your life while working on some project)...
Depending on what kind of code you're working with, you can give Netbeans or Brackets a try too

Sublime Text Side Bar Activating every time when switching between open files. How can I stop it?

Basically:
Using Sublime Text: build 3114 on Win7
Every time when I move between open files in different tabs the side bar annoyingly keeps activating itself each time and keeps sliding in.
Is this a bug or am I missing some setting somewhere that I have to tweak?
Looked all over the place for an explanation/settings option but no luck.
I have Sublime on another Win7 machine and the sidebar behaves as expected. It doesn't activate itself when I move between open files.
YES!!! finally found what was doing it :)
An obscure plugin I had : AutoHide Sidebar , Uninstalled and all is good..finally...
Hope this helps anyone who gets in my situation.
you can hide side bar from view
i had the same problem.
I did resolve it! just uninstall package AutoHide Sidebar and SyncedSideBar.

How to change the functionality of a button so that it can work as the backspace button

Okay, so I have a Compaq laptop [American keyboard].
It is a few days that the backspace button is broken - I mean, it is totally popped off. It ought to be replaced but it is hard to find it out.
Now, I was wondering whether or not there was a way to change the functionality of another button so that it can replace the functionality of the backspace button.
It is not the DEL button. It is the BACKSPACE button [above the Enter button].
I knew that through some binary numbers it is possible to change the functionality of a button. For example, I can change the DEL button in the Number Lock so that instead of working as DEL button or dot, it will work as backspace.
Is it possible?
Another way on Ankit's recommendation:
After installing the AutoHotkey, creating the short script and saving it with .ahk extension, just put the file in the startup folder :) click Start(or windows logo)---All Program---startup folder :) then re-start pc.
If on windows, you may use AutoHotkey, install it, create a file with .ahk extension and put following code in it.
F1::Send {BackSpace} ; Makes the 'F1' key send 'BackSpace' key.
Then run the above script on startup.

Sublime Text 2 split active screen like dreamweaver

At work, I have to jump into old mysql_query procedural website build higgledy-piggledy (some var are camelCased AND underscored, no indent code, page are build in table ...)
Anyway, usually I m using ST2, but here I can't. So to search my line code, I use dreamweaver to click on the screen preview and the cursor drop on the code line I want.
I do not like and I don't know dreamweaver. But as code is UNREADABLE, that is the only way I have to work.(My boss doesn't want rebuild theses sites).
Here is my question, does anybody know for ST2 a way (or a plugin) to split screen and click on screen preview to go right to the code line just like dreamweaver preview does ?
Regards.
Answer is simple, you will never find something like that.
Try here - http://webdesign.about.com/od/windowshtmleditors/tp/windows-wysiwyg-editors.htm
WYSWIG html editors.
Try Sublime CodeIntel, as well says this page:
...This plugin brings a little of IDE functionality into ST2. This plugin reads all your code and is able to code-complete, jump into
definitions and function call tooltips. Although sometimes looks a
little buggy, it’s still worth having it around. It’s a huge time
saver, especially when you are dealing with other’s people code.
If is suitable for that project you can remove the package later.

Text editor in Windows with real time update?

What's a good text editor in Windows that automatically updates the view whenever the opened file has been modified by another process? I need this to watch the output of my program.
If you like using a mouse, Notepad++ is great
If you're happier with the keyboard, for me, it has to be Emacs. Here's the download for Windows.
To use the feature in Emacs, add the following to your .emacs:
(global-auto-revert-mode t)
There are lots of people at work who like Textpad but I don't understand why, it doesn't even have column editing.
Notepad++ has this feature.
If you want to reload automatically, go to Settings / Preferences, then the MISC tab and uncheck Update silently under File Status Auto-detection.
What I use is snaketail. It can update in real time several files, even without the focus.
I would recommend Notepad2. It refresh the content automatically without focus switching. You just need to go to menu 'Settings' and set 'File Change Notification...' option, and then save your settings. But keep in mind, refresh has a delay about 2-3 seconds.
Editplus is great.
This doesn't really answer your question, but it sounds like what you really want is some kind of console view, not a file. Would it be possible to pipe your program's output into an output stream that's visible in a console instead? Those are designed to show new lines as they arrive, automatically scroll, etc.
See the Viewer (F3 option) in FAR file manager, when End button is pressed, it updates and scrolls text automatically
Use Tail For Windows.
Tail doesn't need to have focus on.
I've got it from superuser.com answer.
