I'm running Android Studio 0.5.1. I've downloaded the Crashlytics Android Studio plugin and installed it from the disc. When I restart Android Studio, I get the following exception
Plugin 'com.crashlytics.tools.androidstudio' failed to initialize and will be disabled. Please restart Android Studio.

Below I am posted the crash report in dashboard:
For further Reference: Crashlytics
I had this error "NoClassDefFoundError: javax/swing/SwingUtilities"
I had to download and use jdk1.7.0_65 instead of jdk1.8.0_05 and change the path in my environment variables.
Hope this helps someone!
Oh gods, i thought it's not work, but it does! It now show icon in toolbar, but i assign hotkey on crashlytics and it pop up below(!) IDEA CE 13.1.4 screen.
For you guys using safari to download the plugin. Use some other browser that won automatically unzip the container.
Android studio requires you to install the zipped file, not the individual .jar:s
Edit:
Another option is to go to Safari -> Preferences and untick the auto-open option.
Thanks #m vai
Select "Plugins" on the right of the Settings Dialog. Click "Install plugin from diskā¦" and choose the downloaded zip file.
Do not unzip file. Choose downloaded zip file.

Error:Unable to locate adb within SDK in Android Studio
(31 answers)
Closed 4 years ago.
I have been trying to test my app on real device. I keep receiving error message that "unable to locate adb". I have the USB driver for my phone installed. Thank you for the help. The snap shot is shown below.
on your android studio at the top right corner beside the search icon you can find the SDK Manager.
view android SDK location (this will show you your sdk path)
navigate to file explorer on your system, and locate the file path, this should be found something like
Windows=> c://Users/johndoe/AppData/local/android (you can now see the sdk.)
Mac=>/Users/johndoe/Library/Android/sdk
check the platform tools folder and see if you would see anything like adb.exe (it should be missing probably because it was corrupted and your antivirus or windows defender has quarantined it)
close Android Studio, open the Task Manager and finish the ADB.exe process if it's running and then delete the platform tools folder
go back to android studio and from where you left off navigate to sdk tools (this should be right under android sdk location)
uncheck android sdk platform-tools and select ok. (this will uninstall the platform tools from your ide) wait till it is done and then your gradle will sync.
after sync is complete, go back and check the box of android sdk platform-tools (this will install a fresh one with new adb.exe) wait till it is done and sync project and then you are good to go.
If you are still having problems, you may need to set the Project SDK.
I hope this saves someone some hours of pain.
if using avast go for virus chest, will find adb, restore it by clicking right button..thats all, perfectly works
open Studio settings-->System settings --> Android SDK --> select SDK tool tab -->> select "Android SDK platform tool" and install
(I am using Android Studio 3.0.1)
I downloaded "SDK Platform-Tools" from
https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Copied 'adb.exe' to C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools.
Then I got no errors when running the app.
I also added C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools\adb.exe to the exception list of my anti-virus tool
I use android studio in Windows 7 and i have AVG for antivirus. The first time you launch adb, AVG prompts you to add avg.exe in antivirus vault. If you accept, then you android studio dont have access to run adb.exe. So open
avg >> options >> Virus Vault >> Restore (select the adb file)
In Android Studio, Click on 'Tools' on the top tab bar of android studio
Tools >> Android >> SDK Manager >> Launch Standalone Sdk manager
there you can clearly see which platform tool is missing , then just install that and your adb will start working properly. In Image You Can see every thing
Due to some problem my adb.exe, was lost. My space of work suffered an electrical energy interruption, after that, I could not run or compile android programs.
Adb.exe is a file which should be located in your [android directory]/sdk/platform-tools. In my case, the file dissapeared, however the platform-tools was ther. My solution was as follows:
I changed the name directory of [android directory]/sdk/platform-tools towards platform-tools_OLD, in order to hide it for android studio without erase it.
In [android directory]/sdk there is a file SDK Manager.exe, ... I launched it.
A window of "Android SDK Manager" is shown, then, in the Tools folder I chose "Android SDK Platform Tools" and then, Install packages.
Enter to Android Studio
This was well for me
Else this will helps you
The ADB is now located in the Android SDK platform-tools.
Check your [sdk directory]/platform-tools directory and if it does not exist, then open the SDK manager in the Android Studio (a button somewhere in the top menu, android logo with a down arrow), switch to SDK tools tab and and select/install the Android SDK Platform-tools.
Alternatively, you can try the standalone SDK Manager: Open the SDK manager and you should see a "Launch Standalone SDK manager" link somewhere at the bottom of the settings window. Click and open the standalone SDK manager, then install/update the
"Tools > Android SDK platform tools".
If the above does not solve the problem, try reinstalling the tools: open the "Standalone SDK manager" and uninstall the Android SDK platform-tools, delete the [your sdk directory]/platform-tools directory completely and install it again using the SDK manager.
Hope this helps!
I had the same problem, and I solved it by doing:
(You should be connected to the internet)
click the logo of the SDK Manager
click Launch StandAlone SDK Manager (wait a moment)
if the dialog of the SDK manager shows, you click cexbox [Tools] and Install all packages
if the download is finished, you restart android studio and boot again..
After that, it should work.
Got it to work go to the local.properties file under your build.gradle files to find out the PATH to your SDK, from the SDK location go into the platform-tools folder and look and see if you have adb.exe. If not go to http://adbshell.com/downloads and download ADB KITS. Copy the zip folder's contents into the platform-tools folder and re-make your project.
I didn't need to update the PATH in the Extended Controls Settings section on the emulator, I left Use detected ADB location settings on. Hope this makes this faster for you !
I fixed this issue by deleting and inserting new platform-tools folder inside android sdk folder.
But it is caused by my Avast anti virus software. Where I can found my adb.exe in Avast chest. You can also solve by restoring it from Avast chest.
If you are using Anti-Virus, you can first check virus chest and restore from there. Otherwise, just go to your SDK Manager and install Android SDK Tools.
Android Studio 3.2 RC3 keeps asking me to update the Google Play Instant Development SDK (from 1.3.0 to 1.4.0), but it always fails the update with this message:
Failed packages:
- Google Play Instant Development SDK (extras;google;instantapps)
How can I fix this?
Close Android Studio completely
File -> Close.
Delete instantapps Folder form your sdk:
C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\extras\google\instantapps
update again.
read more http://syscurity.blogspot.com/2018/09/failed-packages-google-play-instant.html
I was able to get this working by:
Closing my project (File -> Close Project)
Open SDK Manager from the gear at the bottom of the window
Click Updates on the left
I had to do this twice and it worked the second time.
If that won't work you can try File -> Invalidate Cache/restart -> Invalidate Restart. Android Studio will close and restart and then updates should install properly.
After delete, you reinstall here "Instant"
find the SDK folder instalation,
go to extra-google-instantaps, delete that
folder instantaps
and after that update again with sdk manager, that
old version is the problem
Solved this (in a similar way to previous, with one exception) by
1: Closing Android Studio File -> Close
2: deleting .installer and tools folders in C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\extras\google\instantapps
3: Launching SDK Manager from Configure dropdown beside gear icon
Note: I tried deleting the entire instantapps folder but when I did this I did not get presented with the option to
install Instant Development SDK.
Close Android Studio
Go to the SDK installed folder
C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk
or maybe you installed in another drive
Then go to extras\google\instantapps and delete this instant apps folder.
Now open Android Studio
Tools -> SDK Manager -> SDK Tools -> Check the box before
"Google Play Instant Development
SDK"
Click Apply and ok
Enjoy your problem free life.
If your version of Android Studio is 3.2, you can go to C:\Users\xxx and delete the version folder other than <.AndroidStudio3.2>. I did this and it succeeded.
Just needs Administrator privilege to install. Try run Android studio as administrator.
Recenty I installed Android Studio on my laptop running Ubuntu 16.04.
When I created a new project and used Android Studio, this annoying popup kept showing: (Because my low reputation, I cannot post images, please click the link below)
https://i.stack.imgur.com/zNMbk.png
I tried to check the checkbox but it still display everytime I click on anywhere in Android Studio.
Help me, thanks in advance.
Try to use this for creating a desktop entry: desktop-file-install THE_DESKTOP_FILENAME_HERE.desktop
It might be the solution (if error it's because it localized the fileB, if ok it will copy to the correct localization /usr/share/applications) Restart then
After trying many times, I decided to reinstall Android Studio and the error disappeared! I don't know the reason clearly but maybe using Create Desktop Entry in Android Studio and creating a .desktop file manually (after installing Android Studio, I wanted to add Android Studio icon to launcher) caused conflicts.
goto settings in android studio
keymap-> main menu-> tools-> create desk entry
right-click on "create desktop entry"
you will get an option to turn off it.
I might sound noob here but I can't see a clear way of opening existing Flutter Project in Android Studio 3.1.2.
I checked this but it didn't work. So I want to know if there is a standard IDE way of doing this? I also can't find any docs clearly mentioning it. Do I need to install a 3rd party plugin?
After opening it as an Existing Android Studio Project, I get the following error:
The error is solved by running Get Dependencies. Is it a normal behavior?
Install Flutter plugin for Android studio: https://flutter.io/get-started/editor/
Open Android Studio
Open existing Android Studio project by using one of below methods:
EASIEST WAY: Drag your project folder and drop to Android Studio.
Other ways:
What works for me was to open existing Android Studio project like mentioned above, and then go to menu
Tools -> Flutter -> Flutter Clean
Then configuration window will open and ask you to locate flutter sdk. After locating the sdk, click OK and then the flutter functions will be available (Pub buttons, runs menu). After that you can proceed to get the dependencies (pub get).
It's basically cleaning the project folder of previous setting(s) which might conflicting with the system (android studio). But that won't happen if you get the project from source repository because all of the junk files wont be in the project folder.
The quickest way on macOS is
open -a Android\ Studio android when you are in the root project directory.
Alternatively, if you use the jetbrains toolbox, you can enable "Shell Scripts" in its settings. This will create a binary in the folder of your choice, so you have to add this folder to your PATH. Then, you can use studio . inside the Android folder, or studio android in the flutter project. The benefit of this, is it also works with other Jetbrains products (e.g. charm project_dir or clion project_dir. Unfortunately this method glitches out (for pycharm at least).
Looks like Android Studio can't load Android Application module from Flutter project automatically. I also have same problem, so in my situation Gradle can't be found, because of lack of Android project.
There's important note from official site:
Important: Do not use the New > Project from existing sources option for Flutter projects
I suggest, same is for Open option.
Just Open your project as normal, and then in [Android Studio > Preferences > Languages&Frameworks > Flutter > Flutter SDK path] select the path where you downloaded & unpacked Flutter SDK.
I know it's already late, but you can open an existing Flutter project in Android Studio by following these steps (make sure you have already installed Flutter & Dart plugin and Flutter SDK):
Click Open from File menu in Android Studio,
Go to the path of the project,
Click Open from the dialog,
When the project opens in Android studio, it will show an error of packages and dependencies. So, click on Get Dependencies on the top. Android Studio will automatically add all the required dependencies and packages.
There is a simple way of doing this in android:
Just Open your project as normal, and on the top right corner, click on Flutter Attach option, and voila!
See Attached screen grab!
Usually you can open your Flutter project in Android Studio simply when you right click on the android folder > Flutter > Open Android module in Android Studio but sometimes this option could be disabled, check this answer to enable..
When I open android studio I am getting an error- "Error loading project: Cannot load 2 facets. When I clicked to see the error the following appeared
"2 facets cannot be loaded. You can mark them them as ignored to suppress this error notification.
Unknown facet type:'android', Unknown facet type:'android-gradle'
I tried to add facets ( In Project Structure > Project settings > Modules > clicked project name, then clicked Android as well as Android-Gradle) But both showed as "cannot load facet, unknown facet type." Under Project settings > Facets > both Android and Android-Gradle are displayed as 'Invalid facets'.
My project was running smoothly. This problem occured when I force-closed my laptop before exiting android studio as everything got stuck. After that whenever I open the android studio this problem occurs. I am not able to run my project. Can anyone please help me to solve this?
Just enable Android Support plugin.
Click Ctrl+Alt+S in Windows or Meta+Comma in Mac.
In top search bar type "plugin".
On right side it will show a list of plugins, find Android Support plugin, check it and click OK at the bottom of screen.
This is how it looks:
In Android Studio go to
File -> Settings - > Plugins -> Enable "Android Support" Plugin.
File, Then Settings->Plugin->Enable/Renable Plugin --> Apply --> Restart
This problem occured when i'd updated Android Studio.
In case nothing from other answers works, you don't have another option, except removing broken settings and making clean setup.
So what i am suggesting:
Use Settings Repository Feature to store personal IDE settings
close studio
remove .AndroidStudioX folder from user folder
re-launch studio, do not copy settings from previous version (because settings probably broken and auto-import couldn't import it well)
import personal settings from Settings Repository
For me I went to Settings -> Plugins and de-selected Gradle then immediately re-selected it. Android Studio then asked if I wanted to enable Groovy so I said yes and let it restart and now everything is happy again! (it was checked, but clearly somewhere deep down not truly enabled, so toggling the check-box sorted it)
Not sure if my cause was installing Flutter, but I did have to disable the Flutter plugin before I could build again.
I had the same problem with an ever-increasing number of facets - first 2, then 4, then 5 - and none of the above solutions worked. My solution (Android Studio 3.3, OS X) was to delete ~/Library/Preferences/AndroidStudio3.3/disabled_plugins.txt, which contained org.jetbrains.android and org.jetbrains.maven
I imagine if you have deliberately disabled plugins then you'll have to disable them again manually, but I was able to load all facets again.
Go To ->File->Settings->Plugins->disable/enable Android Support Plugins->Press Ok
Just re-enable Android Support plugin. Then it will ask to restart.
Restart them thats it
I faced this issue in Android Studio 3.2.1 I had to re-import my project after that it works.
I was facing this problem, I tried everything but nothing worked but then I remembered that I updated Android Studio just few hours back and then I enabled the plugins in the Android Studio and restarted it and it worked.
File -> Settings -> Plugin and then just press ok. It will ask to restart the android studio and please restart it.
For me I had to uncheck the plugin Android APK Support. I clicked Apply and then Ok to close the window. Android Studio prompted me to restart the program, and the program restarted. I checked the Android APK Support plugin again and restarted the program. And then I selected File -> Sync Project with Gradle Files
Then it worked just fine.
