I have sharepoint 2013 server farm with alternate access mapping.
I have two zones with URLs:
http://portal (Default)
https://portal.domain.com (Internet)
I have a global search center site collection with url http:// portal/sites/search.
I want users from default zone when searching to redirect to http://portal/sites/search, while users from internet zone redirect to https://portal.domain.com/sites/search.
But I can only enter one full URL of search center in search options.
How can I achieve this?
Thank you!
Just figured that i can enter relative link as global search URL. Now all works just fine.
I'm entered /sites/search/pages as my URL and now in all zones users redirects to right URL.

The question applies to only Google Sites New (version) as it currently doesn't support web URL mapping. More info here under section Web address mapping :

So I made my site publicly available and can access it via the sites URL. I then did a 302 URL forwarding in my domain DNS so if I type in the domain.com it gets redirected to sites URL -- All good so far.
My question is how come some users are managed to have their URL showing up in Google results. Example Query in Google :
https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#newwindow=1&q=Made+with+the+new+Google+Sites%2C+an+effortless+way+to+create+beautiful+sites.
you will see some sites for example
These sites - ArchSci2020 and Mr. Arnote's new google Site have their URL displayed and Title doesn't contain the word Google Sites. Example if you try the following query where I am looking for the footer phrase
https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#newwindow=1&q=%22Made+with+the+new+Google+Sites%2C+an+effortless+way+to+create+beautiful+sites%22
I am using Google Domains and it only allow URL forwarding -- what are they doing differently?
Thanks.
I think they are indexed by Google with their real domain name because they use iframes or invisibles redirects configured in their registrar panels like Namecheap (for mrarnote.com for example).
According to Namecheap support:
Recently, Google has released a NEW version of Google Sites (it can be accessed through https://sites.google.com/new), however, it has no option to use a custom domain with it. If you still would like to use this version of sites with your domain, you may set up the connection via URL forwarding (more detailed instruction on how to set up the URL forwarding can be found in this article)
Is it somehow possible to redirect example.mydomain.com, a subdomain which does not actually exist, to folder.mydomain.com using either .htaccess or DNS? How can this be achieved?
When I access DNS from the control panel and click on the Web DNS tab, I see Personal web DNS settings, under which I believe I can submit domains and their values. However, I am confused with the type (web alias, web forward, A, CNAME, TXT, SRV, AAAA...). Could someone help me?
If the .htaccess way is simpler, I would then prefer it.
Thank you.
You wouldn't be able to use .htaccess as the subdomain does not exist.
I assume, from the process you described, that you are using One.com hosting. If so, the following guide will be of help:
Manage your DNS settings
Essentially, a web forward DNS entry will work for you:
Click on the Web DNS tab.
In the hostname/domain column, enter the subdomain you would like to redirect.
Set the type to web forward
Set the value to where you would like to be redirected when visiting the subdomain.
Click the (+) sign to save your changes.
It will take up to 90 minutes for your changes to take effect.
I have a Sharepoint 2013 Farm with name
dev22 and I have created a site collection with this url http://dev22/test/site1
And I have added a rule on TMG to redirect the url http://dev22/test/site1 to https://mydomaine/test/site1
But the problem I get the error 404 for /ScriptResource.axd?d= and /WebResource.axd?
because he search the resources on my root domaine
https://mydomaine.com/ScriptResource.axd?d=
instead
https://mydomaine.com/test/site1/ScriptResource.axd?d=
any help please?
Seems like you have link translation on. You can configure a rule to replace part of the url.
go to your firewall policies.
right click on the firewall policy.
click properties.
navigate to the link translation tab.
click on configure
Then you should see this dialog
click add
you will want to replace '/ScriptResource.axd' with '/test/site1/ScriptResource.axd'
Thank you for your answer but if I add this rules on the firewall, I will get the same error for root website.
because I have a SPFarm on http://mydomain.com/
and other SPfarm on http://dev22/test/site1
and i have done redirection with the firewall https://mydomain.com/test/site1 to dev22 sitecollection
This is not SEO related in any way please do not post any thing about SEO ranking as it is not a factor here.
I have 2 urls
old.websitename.com and new.websitename.com
I need to support both urls for a certain length of time and rather than creating 2 sites in IIS I wanted to see if there was a way of doing this by hosting just a single site.
I can not do any redirects on the urls and both urls will need to be active eg I can not have a user go to old.websitename.com and be redirected new.websitename.com. if they go to old.websitename.com they need to stay on that url and not be redirected in any way.
Can this be done on IIS 7 (note this is IIS not Apache or PHP based)
You just need to create a binding for each hostname.
Right click the site. "Edit Bindings"
Click Add
Enter the hostname
Repeat 1-3 for each hostname.
I have a site that when i search in google (ifiwereyou.co.uk) it takes me to a 123reg holding page. (it works fine in most other search engines)
This is beacause google is showing the url as
http://ifiwereyou.co.uk
rather than
http://www.ifiwereyou.co.uk
Is this being caused by a missing dns entry or is there a way i can sort this ASAP?
Many Thanks
Sp
I think it's your domain hosting service serving Parking Page. In the DNS settings you need to add a CNAME www.ifiwereyou.co.uk for ifiwereyou.co.uk.
