How do you clear this error with using HaxePunk in FlashDevelop? - haxe

I have tried researching this and using pre-made templates, but to no avail. I just want to get a real basic HaxePunk project working with FlashDevelop, with making Flash games in mind. Going back to real basic tutorials and such, this is my code:
import com.haxepunk.Engine;
import com.haxepunk.HXP;
class Main extends Engine
{
/*override public function init()
{
#if debug
HXP.console.enable();
#end
//HXP.scene = new MainScene();
}*/
public static function main() { new Main(); }
}
I'm not sure whether to compile this as a Flash Player project or an NME project (I'm really new to this). If I try to compile it as a Flash Player project, I get this error at runtime:
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter type must be non-null.
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/addEventListener()
at flash.display::Stage/addEventListener()
at com.haxepunk.utils::Input$/enable()
at com.haxepunk::Engine/onStage()
at com.haxepunk::Engine()
at Main()
at Main$/main()
at boot_0b9a/init()
at flash::Boot/start()
at boot_0b9a()
If I try to compile it as an NME project, I get this error at compile time:
Error: You must have a "project.xml" file or specify another valid project file
when using the 'build' command
I'm not finding a whole lot of information about this. What would likely be wrong here? Thanks.

You have to make an OpenFL project, not a flash one, this is because HaxePunk uses OpenFL for rendering.
To get flashdevelop work with an HaxePunk project this is what I usually do:
Create a new blank openfl project in FlashDevelop
Create a haxepunk project the commandline (it should be 'haxepunk new name')
Substitute files from the haxepunk project into the flashdevelop one
"Fix what's wrong"
Number 4 is usually a matter of renaming files, iirc in the haxepunk project files has a different name from the one in the flashdevelop one so you'll have to change it

Groovy how can I build a custom library and use it in a project as dependency

I have a set of code procedures I use in a lot of places and I'm trying to basically move it to a library.
So I created my library with some unit test and everything was looking promising and at least working localy..
When I went to my project and deleted the files locally and then try to import them from my library as a dependency the code does not work.
I always get this kind of error
Class does not define or inherit an implementation of the resolved method abstract getProperty(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/Object; of interface groovy.lang.GroovyObject.
I'm definitely not an expert on groovy but basically I use it in my Jenkins and Gradle for pipelines and some basic packaging or environment deployments.
I can show my class:
class ConsoleRow implements Comparable {
...
final Integer priority
final String rowStatus
final String message
final String rowReportClass
ConsoleRow(Integer priority, String status, String msg, String rowC) {
this.priority = priority
this.rowStatus = status
this.message = msg
this.rowReportClass = rowC
}
#Override
int compareTo(Object o) {
return this.priority <=> ((ConsoleRow) o).priority
}
The line that gives me the error is this actual compareTo when trying to do the "this.priority"
Caused by: java.lang.AbstractMethodError: Receiver class com.abc.insight.jenkins.ConsoleRow does not define or inherit an implementation of the resolved method abstract getProperty(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/Object; of interface groovy.lang.GroovyObject.
at com.abc.insight.jenkins.ConsoleRow.compareTo(ConsoleRow.groovy:24)
at com.abc.insight.jenkins.ConsoleOutputHtmlBuilder.processOutput(ConsoleOutputHtmlBuilder.groovy:115)
at com.abc.insight.jenkins.ConsoleOutputHtmlBuilder.processOutput(ConsoleOutputHtmlBuilder.groovy)
at com.abc.insight.jenkins.ConsoleOutputHtmlBuilder.buildReport(ConsoleOutputHtmlBuilder.groovy:20)
at com.abc.insight.jenkins.ConsoleOutputHtmlBuilder$buildReport.call(Unknown Source)
at build_e548mc0tqjmi822clitlsycdk.runReport(C:\dev\repo\insight\insight-health-check\data-foundation\smoke-test\build.gradle:77)
The calling function is just trying to sort a list of those objects
List<ConsoleRow> outputRows = []
...
return outputRows.sort()
The part that gets me really confused is that if instead of importing the library as a dependency I just do this directly in this repo and put my sources in my buildSrc\src\main\groovy\com\abc\insight the code works fine...
So I really think it might be how I package and publish my library that might be wrong.
I'm really sure this is some basic error on my part because I never did a groovy library before but somehow I can't make it work.
It might be that my publication is just wrong, on my library side I'm using this plugins to do the publishing.
plugins {
id 'groovy'
id 'java-library'
id 'base'
}
publishing {
publications {
maven(MavenPublication) {
from components.java
}
}
}
I tried to change components.groovy but somehow it does not work.
Any ideas or tips, I think my question probably is showing some really lack of know-how on groovy but looking at the documentation and examples I could not figure it out.
Doing some debug in my IDE the compareTo that generates the exception looks like this.
public int compareTo(Object o) {
CallSite[] var2 = $getCallSiteArray();
return ScriptBytecodeAdapter.compareTo(this.priority, var2[0].callGroovyObjectGetProperty((ConsoleRow)ScriptBytecodeAdapter.castToType(o, ConsoleRow.class)));
}
I tried following this guide and code structure when doing moving the code to a library
https://docs.gradle.org/current/samples/sample_building_groovy_libraries.html
Thanks for any feedback
p.s: My code might look weird, I tried first to have everything with the def blablabla but I was having some issues with typecasting but I don't think this would be the reason for the problem I'm facing.
Anyway I got a look at the generated code in my IDE and I see a lot of get methods just no idea where they expected this getProperty from
Ok this was definitely a user error.
I am using distribution version of gradle 6.5.1
When I did the gradle init to bootstrap my project I was provided with the dependency of gradle groovy-all version 2.5.11
implementation group: 'org.codehaus.groovy', name: 'groovy-all', version: '2.5.11'
I thought that was a mistake and just updated to the latest version.
implementation group: 'org.codehaus.groovy', name: 'groovy-all', version: '3.0.9'
Now the problem is that the project in which I'm using the library is also running with gradle 6.5.1 so probably this version missmatch between compiple and usage was causing the problem.
By reverting to the correct version suggested by gradle the problem is gone.

Undefined steps after running test from TestRunner class

I have a very strange situation, I have created Features and Scenarios in the feature file and corresponding step definitions and methods in the separate class.
I have run tests by running a feature file, and everything was fine, all tests were green.
But, when I run tests from TestRunner class, I got the following message:
Undefined step: Given I am on the Facebook Login page and suggested code.
You can implement missing steps with the snippets below:
#Given("^I am on the Facebook Login page$")
public void i_am_on_the_Facebook_Login_page() throws Throwable {
// Write code here that turns the phrase above into concrete actions
throw new PendingException();
}
I have noticed that the suggested method have underscore:
(i_am_on_the_Facebook_Login_page())
but my methods do not have underscore
(iAmOnTheFacebookLoginPage())
Does anybody have an idea why this happens? I can't run tests now even from the feature file.
Recently, I have started using Mac and IntelliJ instead of Windows and Eclipse.
Is it possible that IntelliJ causes the problem?
P.S. I have used the option "Create step definition" from IntelliJ
ah...I figured out what the problem was...I forgot to put this piece of code
snippets = SnippetType.CAMELCASE
in CucumberOptions.
So, when I put this line of code here
#CucumberOptions(
plugin = {"pretty"},
features = {"src/test/resources/features"}, glue = {"/java/stepDefinitions"}, snippets = SnippetType.CAMELCASE)
everything works just fine.
It is possible your features folder is not in the build path (being a test folder) so Cucumber is unable to find it. Try this.

Disable warning lint for a method in external library in Android Studio

In my Android project I have an external library with following method:
// Some external library
class Foo {
#CheckReturnValue
public final Bar returnBar(Bar bar) {
...
}
}
I have to call this method a lot in my project, but I do not need the returned value of this method. All I need is the side effect of the method. So this is how I use it:
fooInstance.returnBar(barInstance) // ignore returned value
The problem with the above code is that Android Studio editor will show CheckResult warning lint. What I can do is to either just live with that warning lint or disable CheckResult for the entire project or module, but I was wondering if there is a better approach to this warning.
What I cannot do is to put SuppressLint because I will be using that method 100 < times in my project and adding SuppressLint to every single usage is not really feasible.
I already went through Android Studio inspection settings but unfortunately was not able to find anything that can help. I would be grateful if you could provide literally any thought on this problem.

T4 template shadow copy does not work

I'm using VS2012 and T4 templates and assemblies are supposed to be shadow copied, meaning that you can reference an assembly in a template and then recompile that assembly. But this simply doesn't work for me. When I try it, when I try to rebuild the assembly, I get errors like:
Unable to copy file "obj\Debug\xxx.dll" to "..\bin\xxx.dll".
The process cannot access the file '..\bin\xxx.dll' because it is being used by another process.
The only way around it is to restart Visual Studio, and this is so tedious that I'm ready to abandon T4 entirely. What could I be doing wrong?
So this isn't really an answer yet but hopefully we get there
Test ran the following in VS2013 (I realize you run VS2012)
<## assembly name = "$(SolutionDir)\TestProj\bin\Debug\TestProj.dll"#>
<## import namespace = "TestProj"#>
namespace ConsoleApplication1
{
class <#=Testing.Name#>
{
}
}
The TestProj contains the Testing class
namespace TestProj
{
public static class Testing
{
public static string Name
{
get { return "Tester" ;}
}
}
}
This did work very well in VS2013 and as far as I remember this worked in VS2012 as well.I will try to install VS2012 on one of my machines but do you mind testing this simple sample on your installation to validate it's not something in your solution that holds the dll?
In case you are interested in the project file you can find it here:
https://github.com/mrange/CodeStack/tree/master/q21118821
I work around similar issue. T4 design time template is processed in different App domain under the same process of visual studio. When rebuild the solution Visual Studio tries to replace the referenced DLL, and it cannot replace it because it is still in use.
I work around this issue by deleting the AppDomain in which T4 template is processed. See msdn

Autoloading a class in Symfony 2.1

I'm porting a Symfony 1.2 project to Symfony 2.x. I'm currently running the latest 2.1.0-dev release.
From my old project I have a class called Tools which has some simple functions for things like munging arrays into strings and generating slugs from strings. I'd like to use this class in my new project but I'm unclear how to use this class outside of a bundle.
I've looked at various answers here which recommend changing app/autoload.php but my autoload.php looks different to the ones in the answers, maybe something has changed here between 2.0 and 2.1.
I'd like to keep my class in my src or app directories as they're under source control. My vendors directory isn't as I'm using composer to take care of that.
Any advice would be appreciated here.
Another way is to use the /app/config/autoload.php:
<?php
use Doctrine\Common\Annotations\AnnotationRegistry;
$loader = require __DIR__.'/../vendor/autoload.php';
$loader->add( 'YOURNAMESPACE', __DIR__.'/../vendor/YOURVENDOR/src' );
// intl
if (!function_exists('intl_get_error_code')) {
require_once _DIR__.'/../vendor/symfony/symfony/src/Symfony/Component/Locale/Resources/stubs/functions.php';
$loader->add('', __DIR__.'/../vendor/symfony/symfony/src/Symfony/Component/Locale/Resources/stubs');
}
AnnotationRegistry::registerLoader(array($loader, 'loadClass'));
return $loader;
Just replace YOURNAMESPACE and YOURVENDOR with your values. Works quite well for me, so far.
You're correct, I stumbled upon the changes in autoload from 2.0 to 2.1. The above code works fine with the latest version, to which I upgraded my project ;-)
For a simple case like this the quickest solution is creating a folder (for example Common) directly under src and put your class in it.
src
-- Common
-- Tools.php
Tools.php contains your class with proper namespace, for example
<?php
namespace Common;
class Tools
{
public static function slugify($string)
{
// ...
}
}
Before calling your function do not forget the use statement
use Common\Tools;
// ...
Tools::slugify('my test string');
If you put your code under src following the proper folder structure and namespace as above, it will work without touching app/autoload.php.
