Display MediaLibraryPickerField in SummaryAdmin in module - orchardcms

I have added a MediaLibraryPickerField to a content type in my migration using this code:
ContentDefinitionManager.AlterPartDefinition("MyPart",
builder => builder.WithField("MyImage",
fieldBuilder => fieldBuilder.OfType("MediaLibraryPickerField")
.WithDisplayName("My Image")));
This gives me a media library picker control in my edit view and works as expected.
When I display MyPart in my SummaryAdmin, Orchard tries to use the Image.SummaryAdmin.cshtml and errors out here because the .As<MediaPart> returns null:
var mediaPart = ((ContentItem)Model.ContentItem).As<MediaPart>();
Model.ContentItem is not a MediaPart, it is a MyType. It does have an ImagePart attached to MyType.
Questions:
Why is the Image shape looking for a MediaPart
How can I inject the MediaPart as part of the Model? (should I?)
Should I be creating an alternate view here and drilling down to the correct part?
Am I completely missing how to use a MediaLibraryPickerField?

#{
var mediaPart= ((Orchard.MediaLibrary.Fields.MediaLibraryPickerField)Model.Fields.Single(f => f.Name == "MyImage")).MediaParts;
}

How to override template file item-list.html.twig for field_slider_images in Drupal 8?

I want to override the item listing template file core/themes/classy/templates/dataset/item-list.html.twig for listing the fields field_slider_images as well as field_blog_tags respectively of their's multiple values of the field.
I have selected "Unordered List" in the view.
Please do check the attached image.
I have created following files :
item-list--field-blog-tags.html.twig
item-list--field-slider-images.html.twig
But, this is not rendered for the listing of the fields.
When I have created item-list.html.twig then only it will access.
However, both fields have different data to style and I am not able to get the current field name which is loading it's data in item-list.html.twig.
Had a brief look at this and it doesn't seem that 'item-list' to have suggestions, which is quite unfortunate.
In this situation there are two options:
Create your own suggestion which would accomplish exactly what you need.
You'll have to do something like this:
/
/*add new variable to theme with suggestion name*/
function hook_theme_registry_alter(&$theme_registry) {
$theme_registry['item_list']['variables']['suggestion'] = '';
}
//send a value to newly added variable to use it build the suggestion
function hook_ENTITY_TYPE_view(array &$build, $entity, $display, $view_mode) {
//add condition here if field exists or whatever, do the same for other field
$build['field_slider_images']['#suggestion'] = 'field_slider_images';
}
//use newly added variable to build suggestion
function hook_theme_suggestions_THEME_HOOK(array $variables) {//THEME_HOOK=item_list
$suggestions = array();
if(isset($variables['suggestion'])){
$suggestions[] = 'item_list__' . $variables['suggestion'];
}
return $suggestions;
}
Now you should be able to use item-list--field-slider-images.html.twig
Second option is to do what others in core did: use a new theme
function hook_ENTITY_TYPE_view(array &$build, $entity, $display, $view_mode) {
//add condition here if field exists or whatever, do the same for other field
$build['field_slider_images']['#theme'] = array(
'item_list',
'item_list__field_slider_images',
);
}

How to add an absolute element in a NativeScript page

I want to be able to just place a View component (plugin) into the page through code and have it appear at some X\Y on the page... but I'm a bit stumped.
Any attempt to add via page.content kinda adds it to the layout\render pass so it occupies space.
So this would get injected into "any" page at "any" time, I have no control over the markup this would be used in (know what I mean?) There is no XML for it and unfortunately the answer can't just be wrap everything in an AbsoluteLayout because one can't mandate that on users apps\layouts.
Thoughts, even possible?
Basically the simplest way to do this is to dynamically and be fully cross platform compatible is to create a AbsoluteLayout item in your JavaScript code, and dynamically insert your item and the AL into the page container.
Code would be something like this:
var AbsoluteLayout = require('ui/layouts/absolute-layout').AbsoluteLayout;
var myAL = new AbsoluteLayout();
var myItem = new myPluginItem();
// Set you left, right, top, bottom coords.
myItem.top = x;
// Add our item to the AbsoluteItem
myAL.addChild(myItem);
var frame = require('ui/frame');
var page = frame.topmost().currentPage;
var LayoutBase = require('ui/layouts/layout-base').LayoutBase;
page._eachChildView(function(view) {
if (view instanceof LayoutBase) {
view.addChild(myAL);
return false;
}
return true;
});
However, if you don't want to do this the really simple way; the only other way is to actually go a bit lower level. You can natively access the iOS view controller (page._ios.view) and the android view (page._nativeView), and then manually add it to the view by using things like addView (https://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/ViewManager.html) or addSubview (https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/UIKit/Reference/UIView_Class/).
I would like to add you can set the Top and Left properties in TypeScript by importing AbsoluteLayout like so
import {AbsoluteLayout} from 'ui/layouts/absolute-layout';
and then using the exposed functions setLeft or setTop
AbsoluteLayout.setLeft(YourItem, LeftValue);
or
AbsoluteLayout.setTop(YourItem, TopValue);

How to create layout elements in Orchard 1.9

Can someone please guide me on how to create layout elements in Orchard 1.9. I couldn't find any resource online.
In general, creating a new layout element is similar to creating a new part. There is a driver and a few views involved in the process. To the point - you need to implement as follows:
An element class.. Class that inherits from Element, which contains all the element data. A model, so to speak.
A driver. Class that inherits from ElementDriver<TElement>, where TElement is the type you created above. Each element has it's own driver that handles displaying admin editor (and the postback) and frontend display views.
Shapes. All shapes should be placed under /Views/Elements/ folder, by convention.
Display shape. Named after your element, ie. MyElement.cshtml. This one renders your element on frontend.
Design display shape.. Named after your element, with .Design suffix, ie. MyElement.Design.cshtml. This one renders your element inside the layout editor.
Editor shape.. This one should be put in /Views/EditorTemplates/ folder instead. Default naming convention is Elements.MyElement.cshtml. It renders the editor shown when you drop a new element on layout editor canvas.
With all above done, your new element should appear in the list of elements on the right side of the layout editor, ready to use.
If you want to do some more complex elements, please check the existing implementations. Layouts module has a very decent architecture so you should get up to speed pretty quickly. Just keep in mind the necessary steps I wrote above.
To create a custom layout element first create a class that inherits from Element. Element is found in the Orchard.Layouts namespace so you need to add a reference. To follow Orchard standards put this file in a folder called Elements.
public class MyElement : Element
{
public override string Category
{
get { return "Content"; }
}
public string MyCustomProperty
{
get { return this.Retrieve(x => x.MyCustomProperty); }
set { this.Store(x => x.MyCustomProperty, value); }
}
}
Next, create a driver class in a folder called Drivers. This class inherits from ElementDriver<TElement> and likely you will want to override the OnBuildEditor and OnDisplaying methods. OnBuildEditor is used for handling creating our editors shape and updating our database when the editor is saved. OnDisplaying is used when we need to do things when displaying our element. Oftentimes, you will want to add properties to the shape which can be done with context.ElementShape.MyAdditionalProperty = "My Value";
public class MyElementDriver : ElementDriver<MyElement>
{
protected override EditorResult OnBuildEditor(MyElement element, ElementEditorContext context)
{
var viewModel = new MyElementEditorViewModel
{
MyCustomProperty = element.MyCustomProperty
};
var editor = context.ShapeFactory.EditorTemplate(TemplateName: "Elements.MyElement", Model: viewModel);
if (context.Updater != null)
{
context.Updater.TryUpdateModel(viewModel, context.Prefix, null, null);
element.MyCustomProperty = viewModel.MyCustomProperty;
}
return Editor(context, editor);
}
protected override void OnDisplaying(Reddit element, ElementDisplayContext context)
{
context.ElementShape.MyAdditionalProperty = "My Value";
}
}
We then just need our views. Our editor view goes into Views/EditorTemplates. The file name needs to be what we set the template name of the editor shape. In our case the view name will be Elements.MyElement.cshtml.
#model MyNameSpace.ViewModels.MyElementEditorViewModel
<fieldset>
<div>
#Html.LabelFor(m => m.MyCustomProperty, T("My Custom Property"))
#Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.MyCustomProperty, new { #class = "text medium" })
</div>
</fieldset>
Finally, we just need a view for our frontend. This view goes into the following folder Views/Elements. The name of the view file is the same as our element class name. For this example the file would be called MyElement.cshtml.
#using MyNameSpace.Elements
#using MyNameSpace.Models
#{
var element = (MyElement)Model.Element;
}
<h1>#element.MyCustomProperty</h1>
You will then have a new element that you can drag into your layout with the layout editor.

Defalut XmlSiteMapProvider implementation cannot use SiteMap.FindSiteMapNode?

I just upgrade MvcSiteMapProvider from v3 to v4.6.3.
I see the upgrade note indicate:
In general, any reference to System.Web.SiteMap.Provider will need to be updated to MvcSiteMapProvider.SiteMaps.Current
I am trying to get the sitemap node by using:
SiteMaps.Current.FindSiteMapNode(rawUrl)
But it always return null
I looked into the code. In the sitemap it's actually calling the function:
protected virtual ISiteMapNode FindSiteMapNodeFromUrlMatch(IUrlKey urlToMatch)
{
if (this.urlTable.ContainsKey(urlToMatch))
{
return this.urlTable[urlToMatch];
}
return null;
}
It's trying to find a match in the urlTable.
I am using Default implementation of XmlSiteMapProvider .
It define var url = node.GetAttributeValue("url");
siteMapNode.Url = url;
siteMapNode.UrlResolver = node.GetAttributeValue("urlResolver");
So if I did not define url or urlResolver attribute in the .sitemap file. These variables a set to empty string, when generate the node.
And when this nodes are passed to AddNode function in SiteMap.
When adding the node
bool isMvcUrl = string.IsNullOrEmpty(node.UnresolvedUrl) && this.UsesDefaultUrlResolver(node);
this code will check if there is url or urlResolver
// Only store URLs if they are clickable and are configured using the Url
// property or provided by a custom URL resolver.
if (!isMvcUrl && node.Clickable)
{
url = this.siteMapChildStateFactory.CreateUrlKey(node);
// Check for duplicates (including matching or empty host names).
if (this.urlTable
.Where(k => string.Equals(k.Key.RootRelativeUrl, url.RootRelativeUrl, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase))
.Where(k => string.IsNullOrEmpty(k.Key.HostName) || string.IsNullOrEmpty(url.HostName) || string.Equals(k.Key.HostName, url.HostName, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase))
.Count() > 0)
{
var absoluteUrl = this.urlPath.ResolveUrl(node.UnresolvedUrl, string.IsNullOrEmpty(node.Protocol) ? Uri.UriSchemeHttp : node.Protocol, node.HostName);
throw new InvalidOperationException(string.Format(Resources.Messages.MultipleNodesWithIdenticalUrl, absoluteUrl));
}
}
// Add the URL
if (url != null)
{
this.urlTable[url] = node;
}
Finally no url is add to the urlTable, which result in FindSiteMapNode cannot find anything.
I am not sure if there needs to be specific configuration. Or should I implement custom XmlSiteMapProvider just add the url.
ISiteMapNodeProvider instances cannot use the FindSiteMapNode function for 2 reasons. The first you have already discovered is that finding by URL can only be done if you set the url attribute explicitly in the node configuration. The second reason is that the SiteMapBuilder doesn't add any of the nodes to the SiteMap until all of the ISiteMapNodeProvider instances have completed running, so it would be moot to add the URL to the URL table anyway.
It might help if you explain what you are trying to accomplish.
The ISiteMapNodeProvider classes have complete control over the data that is added to the SiteMapNode instances and they also have access to their parent SiteMapNode instance. This is generally all that is needed in order to populate the data. Looking up another SiteMapNode from the SiteMap object while populating the data is not supported. But as long as the node you are interested in is populated in the same ISiteMapNodeProvider instance, you can just get a reference to it later by storing it in a variable.
Update
Okay, I reread your question and your comment and it now just seems like you are looking in the wrong place. MvcSiteMapProvider v4 is no longer based on Microsoft's SiteMap provider model, so using XmlSiteMapProvider doesn't make sense, as it would sidestep the entire implementation. The only case where this might make sense is if you have a hybrid ASP.NET and ASP.NET MVC application that you want to keep a consitant menu structure between. See Upgrading from v3 to v4.
There are 2 stages to working with the data. The first stage (the ISiteMapBuilder and ISiteMapNodeProvider) loads the data from various sources (XML, .NET attributes, DynamicNodeProviders, and custom implementations of ISiteMapNodeProvider) and adds it to an object graph that starts at the SiteMap object. Much like Microsoft's model, this data is stored in a shared cache and only loaded when the cache expires. This is the stage you have been focusing on and it definitely doesn't make sense to lookup nodes here.
The second stage is when an individual request is made to access the data. This is where looking up data based on a URL might make sense, but there is already a built-in CurrentNode property that finds the node matching the current URL (or more likely the current route since we are dealing with MVC) which in most cases is the best approach to finding a node. Each node has a ParentNode and ChildNodes properties that can be used to walk up or down the tree from there.
In this second stage, you can access the SiteMap data at any point after the Application_Start event such as within a controller action, in one of the built in HTML helpers, an HTML helper template in the /Views/Shared/DisplayTemplates/ directory, or a custom HTML helper. This is the point in the application life cycle which you might call the lines SiteMaps.Current.FindSiteMapNode(rawUrl) or (more likely) SiteMaps.Current.CurrentNode to get an instance of the node so you can inspect its Attributes property (the custom attributes).
public ActionResult About()
{
ViewBag.Message = "Your app description page.";
var currentNode = MvcSiteMapProvider.SiteMaps.Current.CurrentNode;
string permission = currentNode.Attributes.ContainsKey("permission") ? currentNode.Attributes["permission"].ToString() : string.Empty;
string programs = currentNode.Attributes.ContainsKey("programs") ? currentNode.Attributes["programs"].ToString() : string.Empty;
string agencies = currentNode.Attributes.ContainsKey("agencies") ? currentNode.Attributes["agencies"].ToString() : string.Empty;
// Do something with the custom attributes of the About page here
return View();
}
The most common usage of custom attributes is to use them from within a custom HTML helper template. Here is a custom version of the /Views/Shared/DisplayTemplates/SiteMapNodeModel.cshtml template that displays the custom attributes. Note that this template is called recursively by the Menu, SiteMapPath, and SiteMap HTML helpers. Have a look at this answer for more help if HTML helper customization is what you intend to do.
#model MvcSiteMapProvider.Web.Html.Models.SiteMapNodeModel
#using System.Web.Mvc.Html
#using MvcSiteMapProvider.Web.Html.Models
#if (Model.IsCurrentNode && Model.SourceMetadata["HtmlHelper"].ToString() != "MvcSiteMapProvider.Web.Html.MenuHelper") {
<text>#Model.Title</text>
} else if (Model.IsClickable) {
if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(Model.Description))
{
#Model.Title
}
else
{
#Model.Title
}
} else {
<text>#Model.Title</text>
}
#string permission = Model.Attributes.ContainsKey("permission") ? Model.Attributes["permission"].ToString() : string.Empty
#string programs = Model.Attributes.ContainsKey("programs") ? Model.Attributes["programs"].ToString() : string.Empty
#string agencies = Model.Attributes.ContainsKey("agencies") ? Model.Attributes["agencies"].ToString() : string.Empty
<div>#permission</div>
<div>#programs</div>
<div>#agencies</div>

Implementing List.cshtml for Projection throws 'Orchard.ContentManagement.ContentItem' does not contain a definition for 'TagsPart'

I have implemented List.cshtml to provide a custom display for an image gallery. This is the first time I have tried to override a Projection with a Template and at first it seemed to work fine. Then I noticed that when I try to access the Projection on the backend Orchard 1.7 falls over with:
RuntimeBinderException 'Orchard.ContentManagement.ContentItem' does
not contain a definition for 'TagsPart'
Here is some code from the template List.cshtml:
List<TagRecord> uniqueTags = new List<TagRecord>();
List<dynamic> items = Model.Items;
if (items != null && items.Any())
{
foreach (var item in items)
{
if (item != null && item.ContentItem != null)
{
TagsPart part = item.ContentItem.TagsPart;
if (part != null && part.CurrentTags != null)
{
foreach (var t in part.CurrentTags)
{
if (!uniqueTags.Contains(t))
{
uniqueTags.Add(t);
}
}
}
}
}
I am ignorant on a couple of points, which I suspect may be causing the error:
How to specify a template for a Projection (more specific than 'List.cshtml'). Can I use Placement.info? How?
How should I test for the presence of a specific part in the ContentItem? Just assigning TagsPart part = item.ContentItem.TagsPart; throws the exception above.
UPDATE: I had implemented this as a Module; that is, the List.cshtml was in the Views folder of a simple Module. If I move List.cshtml to the Theme then the problem goes away. However, I would still prefer to use a module so that the layout is independent of the theme.
Orchard 1.7 includes a new query layout provider called 'Shape'. I simply used this provider, gave it a Shape Type of 'LightboxIsotope', and created a view called 'LightboxIsotope.cshtml'.
In a projection you can customize the html rendered for each property on the List. In order to acomplish this you need to go to your query, and add a new Layout, choose the properties you need, and set everything you want.
If the layouts provided in the Queries Module donĀ“t fullfill your requirements, you can allways create your own layout provider, this blog post shows an example:
