How to implement Pattern Along Path for shape in SVG - svg

Is it possible to repeat the background in svg path based on the line orientation, like pattern along path in inkspace?

From what I can see, Inkscape does its pattern along path with offline calculations in the editor - there is nothing built into SVG that helps with this.

SVG file looks different in webbrowser than in Illustrator

I've been doing some stuff in Illustrator and I have a problem with saving a project in to SVG file that I open in webbrowser, It just looks different.
And it hapens only in SVG, if I save it to PDF or PNG it looks how it should.
What am I doing wrong?

Since all browsers render it the same way, it would seem likely that this is a bug in the AI SVG export filter.
To me it looks like you are applying a blend mode ("Overlay" perhaps?) to the white parts on top of the image. That effect ought to be reproducible using SVG filters, but perhaps AI's exporter doesn't support that yet.
If you are using an "odd" blend mode, try changing it, or reproducing the effect another way.
Individual pixel control needed in identical svg conversion is not possible. SVG creates only specific shapes. The Ai app conversion seems to use opacity to provide the color shades. You could probably tweek opacity and add some svg filters to improve the svg.
Print your design in a . pdf file instead of exporting it directly. Then open the printed .pdf back in Illustrator and export the .svg from this one, it shoud do the trick.

Hacking SVG Fonts

I know nothing about SVG. Even less about SVG fonts. However, I need to use them in my web project.
I've created a custom font with fontello and analyzed the format of the SVG file in a text editor. Then I opened an SVG file created with Inkscape (saved as plain SVG) and used its d attribute to create a new glyph in the font.
I couldn't believe that it actually worked ... well, almost ... the glyph appears flipped vertically. I have tried flipping it in Inskcape. However, when I save the file, the original d attribute is left as it was. It just adds a transform with a matrix that flips the coordinate system, but which does now work in the <glyph> tag.
Is there any way I could apply this transformation in the font file, or in Inkscape, to change the d attibute?

I found that, in Inkscape, ungrouping and then grouping the object applies the transformation to the coordinates.

Raphael.js convert text to path

I've setup a drawing utility with Raphael.js. The user can draw shapes, paths and enter text. Once a user adds text -> Paper.text() to the svg the svg goes into a selectable state. Meaning, if I add text and switch to the pen tool, moving the pen around the svg will cause adjacent dom elements to go into their ::selection state.
So I'd like to convert the text to a path to prevent this from happening. I don't see anything like this in the documentation.
if you use print() instead of text() for text printing, then the text will be a raphael path object. (print() use a cufon javascript font that renders to a raphael path).
Try tweaking the pointer-events property on the text elements with .attr(). none might fit your needs. There are some good background info links on MDN.

javascript raphael - how to stroke individual paths?

I am trying to make a tool for my website which traces over Japanese characters, showing the stroke order etc.. something like this: http://www.chinesehideout.com/tools/strokeorder.php?c=5pel
I have made a bunch of SVG files in inkscape, which are made up of just curves, one for each stroke of the character. I have then imported these into Raphael using the raphael-svg-import: https://github.com/wout/raphael-svg-import
The SVGs are displaying perfectly, however I want to animate them.
My question is: Is there a way to take each path from the SVG in turn in Raphael, and then animate/stroke them? If so..how??

EDIT: Perhaps I should clarify, when I say stroke I mean progressively draw the line, starting from the first point and ending at the last. At the moment it draws all paths simultaneously and draws the whole of each path at once.
The technique people use in svg for doing this is outlined in this answer. It's probably possible to adapt that to Raphaël, though the Raphaël documentation doesn't list stroke-dashoffset.
Raphaël has a method Element.getSubpath(from, to) that can be used to get only part of a path, that should probably also be an option.

Modifying a SVG path to create word art like effects

I am trying to modify a SVG file which has a path converted from a text. I want to be able to manipulate it to create Word Art like effects (eg: Wedge, Widen, Curved text etc).
I've tried many options like parsing the file and modifying each point, but the results are bizarre and curves go wild. There is no tool/library to do this kinda stuff to an svg file.
In short, I am looking for a tool like ImageMagick but for svg. Please Help!!!
Inkscape can do some of this I think, also see this writeup by Tavmjong Bah. Inkscape uses a library called lib2geom to do these effects, and there seems to be a python wrapper for that library.
