Open an XPinC from a desktop icon - xpages

How do create an icon on the Windows desktop that will launch Notes and open an XPinC page automatically? Is it as simple as adding something to launch the XPage to the the icon or do I need to set something in the client?

Simplest shortcut is to use Notes URL format.
notes://server/path/application.nsf/xpage.xsp?OpenXpage should work.

How to open a browser within VSCode just like another editor tab

For a VSCode extension i want open browser within VSCode not externally, wherein i can load some URL (https://developers.redhat.com/)
I tried looking into various options to achieve it in VScode extension, what i came across is with help of webview i.e 'vscode.previewHtml' we can pass html content which would be rendered with in VSCode editor tab, but what i have is url to load. Can pass it to iframe but i can't open it in iframe
Another option is to open it in browser but it opens external browser.
what i need is to open a browser within IDE (VSCode), experience should be similar to what we get for 'vscode.previewHtml'
or as we see in IDEs like eclipse where browser window is opened right inside IDE.
As we can see below
Please give inputs, suggestions
It's possible now without extension. Open command palette (CTRL+P) and search for "Simple Browser: Show".
This is how it looks:
In order to render your html you can use the WebView API:
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/extensions/webview
Microsoft has an extension in development, Live Preview. I use it to view html codecov reports inside of VSCODE and it at least works for that.
You just search for it in extensions and add it to VSCODE

Desktop gadet/app for Windows

I want to make a desktop gadget like the Sticky notes that we have but just with some additional functionality.
Now that the gadgets have been discontinued in windows, i am not sure about what technology to use to create this app.
I want to create a custom UI like just a Add button on the side of the desktop and clicking on it would create notes.
I was trying to use node-webkit but seems that will appear like a web page and not what I want. Can anyone tell me what should i use to achieve the result.
A Node Webkit window doesn't have to look like a webpage. You can use a frameless window and then design the UI to look however you want with HTML and CSS.

How to open link from client integrated browser in user's default browser?

Scenario:
Sidebar widget in Lotus Notes client opens XPage from URL configured by widget wizard. This works very well (SSO, speed). Some links in that XPage point to 3rd party web application, which requires much more space. So links have target property set to "_blank" to open in new window, which is still integrated browser of Lotus Notes client. This browser is somewhat crippled, lacks navigation controls, address bar, bookmarks and so on. Users want to launch such link in default browser (IE, FF). This is not XPiNC setup. Browser setting in Location document seems to be ignored.
Question:
How to launch link from Notes browser in another browser?
Similar questions posted at this site claim it is not possible with standard browser. I expect Notes can do it.
The easiest way is to change the default browser of lotus notes :)
File->Settings-> Web browser and change it to default browser of your system.
B y the way, have a look here http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21268588
Lotus Notes 8 is using IE to render the pages. So, if the version of Lotus Notes is 8, then your clients will not have any problems even when using embeeded browser of LN.

Making extension always opened once the user clicked in the extension icon, only close when the extension icon is clicked

I want my extension, once it is opened (clicked on the icon), to only be closed when the user click on my extension icon , like it happens when you have developer mode on and 'Inspect Pop-up', when it's in developer mode you can only close your extension after you click in the icon of it in the chrome.
I would like to make it visible until the user click on the extension icon (not any click outside) to close it but without having to have the developer mode on.
or if this is not possible I would like to at least once my extension is clicked, make my extension active so it can deal with the chrome.webRequest.onBeforeRequest.addListener()
Thanks in advance.
Take a look at background pages. As the documentation says a background page is
a single long-running script to manage some task or state
It should work if your aim is to achieve such a task.
Maybe, Desktop Notifications are some kind of decision.

Dreamweaver CS4 - How do you preview in Browser?

I'm new to Dreamweaver CS4 and making my first website. I've watched a lot of tutorials and they all just click the Preview in Browser button and they can see what their page looks like in Firefox/IE/etc.
But when I click Preview in Browser a new Firefox window opens up and it goes to my homepage and that's it.
What do I need to setup in order be able to preview in firefox?
THANKS!
I don't use Dreamweaver, although I have it as part of CS4. But I just now opened up the app, created a test HTML page, saved it, and hit F12 (Preview in Browser). And there was my test page. I honestly don't know what you could be doing wrong. I thought it might be that you didn't save your file, but you get a warning dialog if you try to preview without doing that.
After some playing around I fixed the problem myself.
First I had to go to manage site and edit the basic preferences on my website.
I had to make sure the 'URL to browse to the root of your site" is valid.
In my case it I had to add:
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Linda/My%20Documents/website1/
