Transferring wp8 project to different computer - visual-studio-2012

My old computer broke down and I have my project folders zipped and backed up in the cloud. I have downloaded them to the new computer and placed them in the 'Projects' folder in VS 2012 for WP. I am able to open the solution file but building the app is throwing read errors and is showing me the path on the old broken computer. Please advice on the right method on transferring a windows phone project across computers.

Open up your .csproj files in Notepad and manually fix any paths you find. You may also need to do this in your .sln file.

Error loading Visual Studio 2012 and 2015 projects

I have been with VS2012 for a few years now. I developed my first asp.net/angularjs project under VS2012.
Secondly, I recently checked out a VS2013 project (written by a 3rd party) which ran just fine under 2012.
Then it was suggested that I install VS2015 on my laptop. This is when things went wrong.
Problems:
I attempted to load the new VS2013 project in VS2015, but it immediately failed to load.
VS2015 error:
Creation of the virtual directory http://localhost:32999/
failed with the error: Filename: redirection.config
Error: Cannot read configuration file
Now when I go back to VS2012 and load my original asp.net/angular project, I get this error:
So in the end, I can't load any projects at all ! Neither 2012 nor 2015.
My local IIS websites are still running fine, by the way, but not the local dev environments.
How can I fix these virtual directories ?

As per some guidance from this post - IISExpress 8 Cannot read configuration file redirection.config, here's how I got my VS2015 to load up successfully:
Close VS2015
Go into folder %userprofile%\Documents\IISExpress\config
Rename applicationhost.config
Restart VS and load the solution/project
VS should have recreated applicationhost.config, and project should load
Of course, I now have a different error, which I will post anew:
[BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'MyWebApp.DAL'
or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made
to load a program with an incorrect format.]
I resolved the same problem by starting visual studio with Administrator rights. This post pointed me in the right direction and gives more solutions.
This may be due to checked-in applicationhost file.
Delete the file from the repository. Build the project again. This file will be created automatically. Don't check in this config file again.
This won't work for everyone, but in my case, the file that couldn't be written was actually a temp file in C:\users\\AppData\Local\Temp\iisexpress. We were getting a company wide virus attack and they shut this area down for everyone. They were able to change the policy just for me and that fixed it.

Creating Content Project on Monogame

I am trying to use Monogame for the first time.
I found creating a content project is impossible on Visual Studio 2012,
so I would like to know if I can create some .xnb (contents) files from another PC and move it in my PC that Visual Studio 2012 is installed.
This is because I failed to install Windows Phone SDK in my PC for some reason.
My OS was Windows 7 so I could not install Windows Phone SDK.
So, is it possible to create a content project on another PC and move it into my PC? Or, can I copy the .xnb files to my PC?

You can create the xnb files from whichever system you want by using an XNA game project.
The steps to follow would be:
Create a new XNA Game project (it needs to be a game and not a content project).
Add the assets you want to port into the content project of the game.
Compile.
Go to the output folder and copy all the xnb files.
In your monogame project, add the existing xnb files to the project's Content folder.
Change their properties to: "Content" for "Build Action" and "Copy if newer" for output directory.
You can find a tutorial (written by me) explaining exactly how to use sounds and spritefonts in Monogame here. This can be helpful given that these files need to be created from an external project as Monogame was not able to used them without being in xnb format; and was also unable to create this format for itself.
One last thing, it is also possible to install XNA in VS 2012/2013 and Windows 8/8.1 without any problem by using XNA Refresh. This may help you in avoiding the need to use another computer for this process.

TFS 2012 is not recognizing a file as having been deleted

I am working with another developer on an applciation. Whenever one of us deletes a file that has been pulled down on the other workstation. TFS doesn't seem to pass down the files as deleted on the next get request.
Short story: I delete file -> Check in -> Team mate does get -> gets build errors due to the files still being on his local disk
Anyone know what we are doing wrong?
We are using local workspaces. We are checking in the delete. Everything we are doing is happening in Visual Studio. Not in a file explorer anywhere.
UPDATE: It has something to do with resharper 8 and TFS not playing well together. When I move a file or safe delete a file with resharper commands TFS doesn't recognize it (the green lock sign is not in solution explorer).
I suggest you to check in your csproj file, he contains all files included in your project, your another developper get latest old csproj, so you find your file

Visual Studio 2012-Update 2 Won't Load Solution if SUO File is Present

I develop in VS 2012/.NET on several computers (all running Windows 8 Pro x64). Although VS is installed on all computers I keep the project folder on an external USB3 drive. Every once in a while I would find the project files had been corrupted on the USB drive (e.g. cross-linked). Fortunately I keep frequent backups but clearly this situation is intolerable, so I set out trying to find what the issue(s) might be.
I still don't have a clear answer but one piece of strange behavior is this: if I open the .SLN file for my project in VS 2012 when an .SUO file is NOT present it loads fine, builds are OK, etc. HOWEVER, if I then save the project, exit VS (so an SUO file is created) and then attempt to REOPEN the solution VS hangs at (....loading). I get the usual "Visual Studio is busy....." messages and there is no point in waiting, the solution just never loads. I have to kill VS in TM. I've tested this repeatedly, and I've even done it from the local hard disk (as opposed to the USB drive) to see if USB was the problem. It isn't. Remember, this is all on the same computer (so as to remove "moving" as the cause of the issue). The only way I can work with the project is to delete the SUO file before trying to open it.
I would assume, if this was a VS bug, it would be pretty much all over the web and my searches would have turned up something. So I'm asking if anyone has any idea what the problem might be or if there are links that might help me figure things out.

Azure cloud publish not uploading new files

I've recently copied my visual studio 2010 website project from my windows 7 PC to a new PC running windows 8. That all went relatively smoothly. When I now publish or package the cloud project it only packages files that were originally on the windows 7 PC. Any files that I have created on the windows 8 PC are ignored. The solution builds fine and I can run and debug the project fine. Any ideas?
Not sure why that would be, but here's something to try: In Visual Studio Solution Explorer, right-click the solution and choose Clean Solution. Then try to package/publish again.
When you say files do you mean images/JavaScript?
What is the setting of the "Copy to Output Directory" ? for the files/content that is not making it...make sure it is NOT set to "Do not copy"
Are you using the new v1.8 of the SDK? (did you upgrade your project?)...this can happen if you are using an old SDK from a previous computer and then try to build stuff using a "fresh installation".
The issue was that somewhere along the way the cloud project got disassociated with the web project so wasn't actually updating the file list for publishing - it was just using the file list that had already been generated on my old PC.
The fix was to scrap the cloud project and start over with a new one, then add a new web role to it and then convert that web role into a web application project and then move my whole existing website into that...
