design view of visual studio 2012 - visual-studio-2012

I just installed Visual Studio 2012 and I am writing a C# program. However I can't see ho to switch to design view. In Visual Studio 2012 I seem to recall that there were tabs beside the main text area that let you select between code, design or split views? By the way when I was installing VS2012 I select web development as my 'main language' so I don't know if that might have something to do with the missing design view?

Where is the Architecture Menu in Visual Studio 2012 Premium?

I can't seem to access the Architecture Tools available in Visual Studio 2012 Premium Version 11.0.60610.01 Update 4 using .Net Version 4.5.50709
My only visible menu options on startup are:
FILE
EDIT
VIEW
DEBUG
TEAM
SQL
TOOLS
TEST
ANALYZE
WINDOW
HELP
And with a project open these two extra items appear:
PROJECT
BUILD
There is nothing under the any of the menus related to Architecture Tools except for
VIEW > Toolbars > Architecture Designers
The Architecture Designers toobar's buttons are all grayed out when enabled.
Do I need to do something extra after the Visual Studio 2012 install to make them show up?
Does it only work for certain types of projects (I am trying to make an MVC4 project)? Does it have to be enabled on a per-project basis?
Is there a difference between how the Architecture tools work in Premium vs Ultimate?
Isn't it only available in VS 2012 Ultimate? (which used to be called "Architecture Edition".)

How to generate code map in VS 2012

How can I generate a code map in visual studio, can generate class diagram but where is the option for code map ?
You need to have installed Update 1 for VS2012, and be using Professional, Premium or Ultimate editions if Visual Studio.
Taken from this source here:
Before we get started you need to be aware of the requirements for Code Map. Below are the requirements to leverage this feature:
Visual Studio 2012.1 and one of these editions:
Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate to create code maps from the code editor or from Solution Explorer.
Visual Studio 2012 Premium or Visual Studio 2012 Professional to open code maps, make limited edits, and navigate code.
A solution with Visual C# .NET or Visual Basic .NET code
Note: Before you share maps with others who use Premium or Professional, make sure that all the items on the map are visible, such as hidden items, expanded groups, and cross-group links.

Visual Studio 2012 Design view out of sync

When I'm on the split view of Visual Studio 2012 and I make some changes on the Code window, the design window does not show the changes and instead gives me this message "Design view is out of sync with Code view. Click here to synchronize views".

Is there a way configure Visual Studio to have Design view seamlessly updated as I write code?

Sequence Diagram context menu absent in Visual Studio 2012 but was there in VS2010

I used to be able to generate sequence diagrams in Visual Studio 2010 by right-clicking within a function and selecting the appropriate menu option.
I just installed Visual Studio Premium 2012 (11.0.51106.01 Update 1)
and that menu option is not available. My project is in C#.
We had one other VS2012 patch in our library that I installed as well, but that did not produce the desired result.
According to this comparison page, Sequence Diagrams (and UML in general) can only be created by Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate. The Premium edition can only read them.

Visual Studio 2012 UI customization

Are there any add-ins available that let you customize the UI look and feel for Visual Studio 2012 IDE?
This extension gives you basic control over the VS2012 colour palette:
http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/366ad100-0003-4c9a-81a8-337d4e7ace05
Unfortunately there's no control over icons, appearance/roundness of windows etc in this extension however.
Visual Studio 2012 Color Theme Editor is for you, as Daniel said.
There is also an open source project that can restore VS 2010 icons in VS 2012 :
Visual Studio Icon Patcher.
I wouldn't use it anyways, as it's more a hack, than a real solution.
