I have an embedded view in a main form (same database) with a single category of a client code that is custom generated. The view displays all other documents that have that main document's client code in a hidden field.
This works perfectly, except for one user where the embedded view is blank, and the message "category not found" is displayed. This happens for all documents viewed. Anyone else that opens the exact same main documents can see the correct list in the embedded view. The documents are definitely there.
I've pressed F9 a few times, and the "category not found" keeps coming up. I've also shutdown Notes and deleted the cache file, and restarted. There have been no changes to the database for a long time, and this started for this one user a few days ago.
I have no idea whats causing this.
Check readers/authors fields in documents that should be displayed in your embedded view. May be that user just can't see them.
Before I get too stressed, I generally try this:
Remove the database from the user's workspace
Compact the workspace (2nd tab of workspace properties)
Close Notes
Delete cache.ndk
Restart Notes
If that doesn't work, I'd check that the user can see the documents in another way (i.e. if you send a doclink to the user, can the user open it (alternatively, try opening the embedded view directly through View - Goto. Don't forget to use CTRL-SHIFT at the same time if the view is hidden)? If not, the user may have lost a role, or dropped out of a group that provides access.
¿The view is "shared" and not "shared, private at first view"? In that case, you have to delete de "private version" of the view for that user
¿The embedded view is calculated, and show one view for a group of users and a second view for another group? Maybe you're searching the problem in the wrong view
¿The single category is based on a formula or on a calculated field? In that case, the formula calculates a different value for that user

I've started creating a template that asks for a persons contact information on multiple pages. I've attached 2 different documents. I added all my Tabs to the first document and when I made the Tabs on the 2nd documents and wanted to connect the information view the Data Label so the person doesn't need to write the same information twice it doesn't work. If I move the tab onto the same page the original tab is on the connection appears... I move it back on the next page and it disappears again...
Does anyone know what is wrong?
Things I've tried to correct the problem:
1- copy the template, same issue
2- create a new template with different files, same issue
3- upload a template from another account that I know works, same issue
I spoke to a DocuSign support person yesterday and they were at a loss, but also at the end of their shift so they will call me back, but I thought I'd take a chance here.
Thank you for your help!
Check your Settings -> Sending Settings -> "Automatically replicate information in fields with the same data label". You want the value to be "on all documents in an envelope". Note that this affects all envelopes sent from this account and cannot be set on an individual envelope basis.
I have a notes database and recently we are having an issue across random documents. Users gets error "The linked document cannot be found in the view" when they try to open a document from a view. I am not sure how to reproduce this issue.
I tried the below options to reproduce it, but no luck:
Attaching a document link to one of the Rich text field and deleting the link's target.
Attaching a file as a link and deleting the file in the target.
I am not seeing any pattern with the documents having the issue. The documents accessed few days ago, which was not accessed for more than 2 years also becomes corrupt like this.
Other details:
The Field info tab in Document properties dialog box is empty
There is no scheduled agent running overnight affecting this documents
No change was done to the database recently
We recently migrated to Notes 11.0 from 9.0
Since we have a daily backup of the database, we restore the document from one of the restored copy in which it was working fine.
A guess: did you try re-indexing the view? Shift-F9?
It could also be in the form, or even the view.
What if ...
you open the same document from a different view?
you remove some, many or all fields from the form, do you still see the error?
I think those documents have actually been deleted, and two things make me think that:
You say in a comment that rebuilding the view makes the documents disappear. I'd expect this only if the documents no longer exist.
I have in the past had LotusScript code doing view lookups which produced documents that I knew to be deleted, but the NotesDocument.IsDeleted property was False and the NotesDocument.Items property was Empty (i.e. no fields in the document). This is consistent with your saying the Field info tab is empty.
I'd check if any user action or code could delete documents. You say there are no scheduled agents, but maybe some user action could run code which deletes documents, or some users with the Delete privilege in the database ACL could be directly deleting documents using the Delete key on the keyboard.
Also check the database properties -> Info tab -> User Detail. This should show if there are recent deletions, but the record is probably limited to the last week or less.
I am developing a database on Lotus Designer 8.5 environment with LotusScript and LotusFormula.
Is there any possibilities on get a list of recently opened documents (for example last five) in a Lotus Notes database ? My purpose is to provide an embedded view showing the recent documents opened by current user on the current database, which will act like some kind of history view.
Please advise
Use a folder categorized by username. Add the current document in PostOpen event to folder with document.PutInFolder(folderName) and remove the oldest document from folder with document.RemoveFromFolder(folderName)
This way you don't need to edit the documents and can show the last visited documents for a user in an embedded view.
As an alternative you can use user specific folders with option "Shared, private on first use".
I have that functionality in one of my databases.
I just added some code in the QueryOpen event of the form to store the UNID of the document in a profile document linked to the specific user. The values are stored in a multi value field, and my code removes the oldest entry when the number of entries I want to store is exceeded.
The user can actually set that number themselves in teh applications settings, 5 is default but they can make it more or less.
I built a class for this, makes it very easy to modify later, and to implement it in different forms, for different document types.
I then built a method to expose the last documents to the user, using a dropdown box as you can see below. Since you only wwant/need the five (or perhas ten) last documents, no need to use a view.
I have scripts that react off of, for example, a client Recalc client event. For example, on my form I have a subtab that users may add or remove items from. Based on actions on this subtab (housing a child record of the parent) I would like a field on the parent to update (say to show a total from the children records).
As I was saying, these events seem to work fine if in edit mode but they do not work correctly in view mode. (even in view mode these child records have a "Delete" option at the end of each row in the subtab. This was provided by netsuite by default.
I wondered if anyone had any tips to best allow this parent field to update real time while in updating the subtab rows with the form in view mode.
Thanks.
You can make a custom field on the parent (header) whose value is determined by saved search. For instance, make a saved search that totals the line values by transaction. Be sure to make it filter by transaction in the Available Filters tab. Make the search public so everyone can use it.
Create the custom field that sources the total from the saved search. Make sure to uncheck the "Store Value" checkbox, as you don't want to store the data, you want to reference the search results. You do this on the Validation and Defaulting tab. You'll see a field for Saved Search there. Choose the search you created above.
As you remove/add/change lines on the transaction, the field updates accordingly. In essence, you don't need a single line of code to make this work - it's all in how you create the search and the custom field that references it.
I have a similar situation posted here.
The NetSuite team answered me by email, and it happens you can't really achieve this on the view mode: some API methods are not available. Their suggestion to my case (and I think it applies to yours too) was really to force a refresh on the whole page.
Of course, you can always achieve this accessing the DOM elements directly, but this isn't a best practice, as your code can stop working if these elements change on a version update.
I had the same problem, I'm not able to restrict on view or remove edit button. But, there was one alternative solution with workflows, you can deploy workflow on child record edit mode restrictions, then if the user clicks edit on view then the record will not be available to edit. This concern will apply to custom record as well.
In CRM 2011, notes get automatically created and attached to main record on lost focus event. Requirement is to remove this auto save functionality. Only till main form is open user should be able to edit notes. And newly added notes should only get saved once main form is saved. For example, if user add one note and closes the browser or do not save the main form, then that note should not get attached to main record, new note should get discarded.
I was thinking following solution:
create new custom entity TempNotesHolder
Create 1:N relationship with the entity where we want this functionality, for example Case entity
Make actual case's note section read only(it is requirement, user don't want to edit/delete functionality for notes once note get created)
Write plugin for create event of Case and create one Record for TempNotesHolder and associate it with case(RegardingId field in TempNotesHolder = incidentId) This will ensure one Case will always have only one associated TempNotesHolder record. There is no way in CRM 2011 to ensure One entity record will have only one record in associated entity i.e. 1:1 relationship. At least I don't know the way. Let me know if any one are aware about it.
On Case form, add one IFrame below Case's note section
on case form load event, get TempNotesHolderId associated with case using fetchXml.(There is no actual field in Case entity that refer to associated TempNotesHolder, hence need to use fetchXml. Some how we can add associated TempNotesHolderId to Case entity, and place that field on Case form, make it hidden, to avoid fetchXml)
Prepare url to display only notes of TempNotesHolder record.(/_controls/notes/notesdata.aspx?EnableInlineEdit=false&EnableInsert=true&id=&ParentEntity=
Set this url to newly added IFrame, so notes of associated TempNotesHolder get displayed in IFrame. It will also have link "Add New Note".
User can add note to TempNotesHolder which are not directly added to Case record.
Next develop plugin on pre save event of Case and check if there are any notes added to TempNoteHolder, if yes move those notes to Case record, and delete notes for TempNoteHolderId. This way notes will get saved to main record only on main form save.
To handle browser close event after adding few notes to TempNotesHolder, write plugin on Case pre Retrieve event, check if any notes present for associated TempNotesHolderId, if present then delete those notes. (As notes are present on TempNotesHolderId, that means due to some reason these notes are not moved to actual case record and we no longer need them, so delete them. This will ensure on case load, TempNotesHolder note section always be blank)
The above solution was fine till step 8. When I tried to add notes in TempNotesHolder, it gave me error, "Record with does not exists in TempNotesHolder". Then I checked that GUID, I disappointed to know CRM is taking IncidentId when I create note for TempNotesHolder. Then I tracked down the actual code for create notes to find why it is taking IncidentId instead of TempNotesHolderId. I found following code in "_static/_controls/notes/notes.htc" function name "UpdateNote"
xml="0"+CrmEncodeDecode.CrmXmlEncode(value)+""+_parentCrmFormSubmit.crmFormSubmitId.value+""+this.parentEntityType+""+CrmEncodeDecode.CrmXmlEncode(currentTitle)+""+this.userId+""
CRM is taking _parentCrmFormSubmit.crmFormSubmitId.value as objectid while creating note.
Now I stuck with this problem. Any thoughts to overcome this show stopper issue are appreciated. Also any other alternate solution to main requirement are also welcome.

I would suggest simplifying the solution as follows:
Add a field to Case called new_notetext.
Create a Plugin against the Pre-Create and Pre-Update messages on the Case entity.
In the plugin, take anything entered into new_notetext and add a note to the Case entity using that text. Then clear the field new_notetext so nothing is saved with the record.
Should work just fine and is much simpler to implement.
