How to display modules only on search results in Joomla 2.5? - search

Hello please read the whole question, this isn't just solved by enabling the modules only for the search page:
I have a few modules that are exclusively shown on the search page in Joomla.
I created a hidden menu entry for the search as well in order to tell modules to only show on this page. This works alright, but when I click one of the results and get redirected to the actual result, then the modules, which should only show up on the search page are still shown in the result page.
Any clue how to fix this? Really annoying as I use 3rd party search enhancing modules, and they are showing on the results.

Using standard Joomla, there's no way to target modules to only the search results page and none of the pages that link off the results – but I know you knew that! The hidden menu item is a help, but does not change the menu item of some of the links off that page. It's all to do with the allocation and use of "Itemids" in Joomla.
To be able to target modules more specifically, you need to use a 3rd-party extension. I developed MetaMod (www.metamodpro.com) to cope with exactly this use case. MetaMod is a wrapper module that can then decide just which other module to include in itself (or not). So you assign the MetaMod to the page, then put a snippet of code inside the MetaMod which decides which other module to include.
In this case, I'd use the following in MetaMod:
if ($core_genius->check("pagetype = search, searchresults")) return XXX;
// replace XXX with the module id of the module to include
// ONLY on the search page, or the searchresults page, but
// no other type of page.
Hope that helps,
Stephen

Although MetaMod is great (I've used it myself & Stephen's support is great!) there is another way to do it without using 3rd party extensions.
You could create new module positions in your template above (or below) the module positions you wanted to use and wrap them in an if statement like so:
<?php if(!isset(JRequest::getString('searchword'))) : ?>
<jdoc:include type="modules" name="right-search" style="xhtml" />
<?php endif; ?>

Orchard - access a content type through different URLs so they use different views

I'm trying to create a CSS documentation library in Orchard. I want to save a description, CSS snippet and HTML snippet against each content type. The first view would show the description and CSS and HTML code written out. The second view would show a preview of what the CSS and HTML look like rendered.
cssdocumentation.com/content/item1
cssdocumentation.com/content/item1/live-preview
I've created the content type and the first view. But I'm not sure how to create the second view. I can see if I can create the alternative URL I can use the Url Alternates module to create an overriding .cshtml
To create an alternative URL I've looked at the autoroute module but this only allows you to adapt a single URL (unless I'm missing something?) and I've looked at Alias UI but this forces me to manually create an alternative URL everytime I create a content item.
Is this possible in Orchard without writting too much C#? (I'm a frontend developer so I only dabble in the behind the scenes stuff)
Thanks for any help
Best solution is to do this within your own module. But as a secondary option instead of having a second page, combine this content with your first page and hide it with CSS. When the user clicks a button to navigate to the next step render the CSS/HTML result on the same page. You can do this in many ways, here are a few ideas:
Render the CSS/HTML result out straight away on the same page but hide it. Show it when the user clicks a button
using jQuery to render the result on the client side. More dynamic if you allow editing of the HTML and CSS.
Redirecting the user to the same page with specific url parameters which you can pick up in your alternate to modify the output.

How wappalyzer(Mozila addon),GTmetrix finds the cms platform

I am currently developing a site which is not supposed to expose its developer magento platform(Sorry about that ).
I thought the wappalyzer(Mozila addon),GTmetrix site is finding the cms names by its html format but when i saw a empty white page with that tools it still shows me like am using Magento(there is nothing in the source view - its white page), so now how they are finding that am using magento. Any idea about hw they are working? I checked headers but there nothing specially mentioned as magento. Same goes with wordpress/joomla - simply wappalyzer(Mozila addon),GTmetrix finds the site platform even there is no html source.
So I guess something with in header(i might missing something) or what it can be? please advice. Attached screenshot of it.
Thanks in advance
You can view Wappalyzer's source code: (Ctrl+F Magento):
https://github.com/ElbertF/Wappalyzer/blob/master/share/js/apps.js
Most likely Wappalyzer picked up on the "Mage" JavaScript variable. You can see this by clicking the DOM tab in Firebug.
They are finding it using the words like mage,varien,magento. If it finds any of these words inside css/js file class,#id,inside comment then it found it as magento.
Also gtmetrix does one more step , like it is checking the css/js url path - if it fins the url like skin/frontend then it says it as magento.
Dont forget cookies...
I use FireBugs. Go to main menu -> Cookies
There is frontend in cookies.

URL based breadcrumbs display

Is it possible to show breadcrumbs based on the URL. For example if the user hits example.com it means home->test1->test and if user hits example1.com it means home->test2->test. Is it possible to control the breadcrumbs visibility. Any one guide me how to do this.
A very nice implementation of A very customizable breadcrumb can be found in the Zen theme. If you already use a sub-theme of Zen then you're in luck. You;ll only probably have to configure it and you're good to go.
Options for the breadcrumb: each theme has it's own settings. So you'll need to add the options you'll want for youre breadcrumb (On/Off, separator, home link On/Off etc.) in a themes/your_theme_name/theme-settings.php file. Here you'll find a starting point. For inspiration check out the theme-settings.php (for defining the options) and zen.info file (for providing the default values for the options).
Theme the breadcrumb: then you'll have to implement your_theme_name_breadcrumb function in template.php. Again look in the file with the same name in the Zen theme for an example.
Showing the breadcrumb: last step is to make sure that your breadcrumb is visible and you do this by printing the $breadcrumb variable. Look in the page.tpl.php file template for the default implementation and customize it as you like.
Some other points of interests:
Custom breadcrumbs haven't tried it personally but sounds promising if you're looking for customizable breadcrumb trails for node types.
An article on the above mentioned Drupal module
for those who like to get their hands dirty here you can find some nice info: http://drupal.org/node/64067
And don't forget to clear the theme cache at the end :)

drag and drop in drupal 6 block

I am working on drupal. I am facing problem in block. There is no drag and drop function on the page. When i dissable javascript on my browser it show weight option to set manually, after enable again it is not showing.
can any one suggest about this type of problem. if there is any css related issue please suggest me about this
Usually, when this happens, the <?php print $scripts; ?> call in your theme's page.tpl.php is missing, so that Drupal's JavaScript files aren't being included (it's JavaScript that creates the drag and drop features). Or there is an error/conflict in your JavaScript/jQuery.
Is $scripts being printed in your theme?

Pagination on Single-Entry view in ExpressionEngine

I am building a website with ExpressionEngine as the CMS. There is a "Work" section that displays all the projects, and a detail view that shows each project individually. It is at this point, on the single-entry view that I would like to have "prev" and "next" pagination. In my tests I have made it work when the URL is "somedomain.com/index.php/work/detail/" but it does not work when the specific entry is part of the URL: "somedomain.com/index.php/work/detail/some_project/"
I've tried putting the pagination code outside of the {exp:weblog:entries} tag as well as within it, but to no avail. This is what my pagination code looks like:
{paginate}
<ul>
{if previous_page}
<li>< previous</li>
{/if}
{if next_page}
<li>next ></li>
{/if}
</ul>
{/paginate}
You are using pagination for lists of entries, what you need is the next / previous entry tags:
http://expressionengine.com/user_guide/modules/channel/entry_linking.html
Hmm. I'm not sure what the issue is here, as I've never used the {pagination} tag in that way. After checking out the docs, I see that the example code for prev/next links inside of the {pagination} tag is wrapped inside of an {exp:comment:entries} loop instead of the normal {exp:channel:entries} loop.
The docs aren't very clear about the scope of this particular feature of the {pagination} tag. You might want to double check that, in your {exp:channel:entries} loop, you haven't included pagination as a value in the disable parameter.
You could also check out the page in EE's user guide about Next/Prev Linking, which details the use of {exp:channel:next_entry} and {exp:channel:prev_entry} tags in place of the {pagination} tag that you've been using. I've used these tags without a hitch, so I definitely recommend trying them if you can't get your method to work.
Best of luck!
