I would like to automatically add a default value to every item searched in the google custom search bar on my page. For example: if the default value is "review" and the user entered cars into the search field, google will return results for "cars review".
Is this possible?
Thanks ahead

I checked SuiteAnswers and here on Stack overflow but don't see an answer. Is there a way to make a Multi-select field in NetSuite as an option for an available filter in a Saved Search. I tried to do this by creating a test MS field on an Employee and creating a saved search. However, when adding it as an available filter it grays out the ability to show in the filter region, which, by all practical purposes, makes it not usable as an available filter.
Has anyone found a way to do this? Or do I have to have multiple searches for variations on the values we want in the multi-select, which is not ideal?
This is very frustrating NetSuite behaviour however I have found a workaround that works some of the time.
Create a saved search
Go to the "Available Filters" subtab
Add the Select/List type field(s) you require
Tick "Show In Filter Region."
At this point the "Show as multi-select" checkbox will be greyed out (disabled.)
Save and run the search.
Click "Edit This Search"
Navigate back to the "Available Filters" subtab and the "Show As
Multi-select" checkbox should now be enabled, tick it.
Save and run your search again.
I want to use google custom search for my wordpress setup. I need the custom search to be able to search the whole site or if a checkbox is ticked, only search within a certain category of the site.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with this?
You can have 2 custom search engines- one searching your whole site and another one searching the specific categories you mentioned. Based on whether the checkbox is checked or not, you can display the appropriate search box in your page. A demo of how to select specific sites or whole domains is shown in http://preciselyconcise.com/apis_and_installations/google_custom_search.php
I have been researching this for some time, and have not been able to find a solution. I would just like to have a search bar that when an ID is entered, the search will return all the list items that have that ID.
I'm sure I am leaving out details (as I am a sharepoint novice), but any help would be greatly appreciated.
What you need is not search, but filter.
In the view of you library, follow these steps :
Put the page in edit mode
Add a web part "Text Filter Web Part"
Open its tool pane
Name the filter, "IDFilter" for example, and validate
Still in edit mode, select "Modify shared Web Part" --> "Connections" --> "Send filter values to name of your library"
Choose the field that holds your ID and click "Finish"
That's it. You can now type the ID in the field, and it will dynamically apply a filter on the ID field.
That said, you should post you future questions on http://SharePoint.stackexchange.com. this is a SharePoint dedicated stackexchange site.
We are using jqGrid for ASP.Net version 3.6.6.0. We are facing a problem in search/filter as described below:
We have created a jqGrid using ASP.Net (C#) having column likes Name ,Status etc. There is a hyperlink on Name column.
We are able to successfully populate the grid
User applies search on a column say “Name=’XYZ’” and grid is updated according to search results.
User clicks on Name link and is taken to details page of that Name.
Now when user clicks back from that details page ,search is lost.
We were able to persist the searched grid details using session however we are not able to set the searched text back in search text box.
i.e we are not able to set the value “XYZ” in search text box of Name Column.
Need your help in knowing which property or method is to be used to set the Filter text box through code.
If you use Advanced Searching the searching parameters are saved in the postData.filters property in the JSON encoded format. If you use the Single field searching another properties of the postData parameter of the jqGrid save the filter information: searchField, searchString, searchOper. So what you can to do is to same the filters in the cookie. To restore the searching filters you can examine the cookie and if needed extend the postData parameter with the corresponding properties (see here for details).
If you want that the searching filters will be not only displayed if one opens the Searching Dialog you can set additionally the search:true parameter of the jqGrid.
I recommend you additionally read the answer on the close question.
How do I add an item in a column as a link in a list in Sharepoint Server 2010?
What is the type of column which is showing link to another document?
Let me see if i understand you correctly.
You have seen the browse for document link in publishing sites, and you want this functionality in your standard list.
Unfortuately you cannot do this, the standard data types are:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-sharepoint-services-help/create-a-site-column-HA010157769.aspx
So you are left with just plain old Hyperlink, which doesn't have the browse for document box.
If you try to create a site column with the datatype Publishing Hyperlink, and add it to your list, you should get an error message when you try to browse
"Cannot complete action"
You can add Calculated Value column in the list, and specify the formula for the column which will redirect you to the desired location.
You can do this with jQuery by parsing the link from the title with link or edit button. But also, if you want a non client side solution, there is a good article here http://www.sharepoint911.com/blogs/jennifer/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=70 on how to add a column and using a workflow fill that column with a "quick link" that the user can provide to people wanting to link to there document. It is a general approach that I think you can see could be adapted to various needs.
For a head start on a jQuery solution check out http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcustomization/thread/ebda8a32-a6cc-49fa-b7e4-81f762b26266/
In order to link document with list item, you can create "Hyperlink with formatting and constraints for publishing" site column and add it to any list.
If you need to browse and upload multiple files per list item, you can use 3rd party add-ons like Sparqube Document column.
