is there a way to disable items in a dropdown list in infopath?
is it also possible to do so without using code (C#/VB.net&etc)???
Thanks a lot for any hint!
Max
Make the field read-only, then the drop-down control won't fire.

In the list, I set-up "ID" column and "Title" column.
I added 10 items in the list, and I'm trying to put the 10th item between 1 and 2.
After my research, many people said I can't manually change ID number...
Is there a way to re-order the item?
deleting every items is the only answer?
Please help!
The ID column is an internal identity-like column. You cannot change the value. If you need a column that you can order by (and change), just create a new column called SortOrder or something. Then sort by that column.
I know this is an old post, but I thought this might help someone who might be looking for an OOB answer.
Go into your links list so that you see your List Tools, Items and List at the top.
Select Items.
There is a Change Item Order Icon in the Ribbon. This will allow you to renumber the Links in your list and change the order.
You can manually change the items order if you create your list based on a link list definition. This kind of list allows you to re-order items as you require through a ribbon button. I use this workaround often.
The ID Column is SharePoint inbuilt and you can not change the value of it.
for your solution either you need to delete all item and insert it again or as #Nigel Whatling say you have to add SortColumn
Column Setting will only change the order in the SharePoint List. To change the view order Use the Modify View Selector to adjust the way the fields are sorted. Modify View is found on the ... next to Find and Item Box or If your in the site setting it is under View on the lower 3rd of the page
I also got stuck with this and couldn't use the previous answers as I couldn't see the buttons they spoke of in the ribbon.
I went to List > List Settings in the ribbon. At the bottom of the list settings page I click on a View to edit it (or create new view). Unser the heading Sort you can change the column you wish to sort by and change from descending to ascending etc.
Actually, if I understand the question, it was just what I was trying to accomplish and spent most of my morning working on.
Select the List.
From toolbar, select List under List Tools.
Click List Settings.
Below the listed columns, see Column Ordering
Modify "Position from Top" number and click OK at bottom.
Updated steps:
Select the List.
From toolbar, select List under List Tools.
Click List Settings.
Above the Column list click on the "Item" link
At the bottom of the page select "Column Ordering"
Modify "Position from Top" number and click OK at bottom.
I have a QTreeWidget which uses the QAbstractItemView.ExtendedSelection property, allowing users to shift click and control click items.
I'd like to preform actions on these items based on the order in which they are selected-- I can think of ways to design my own systems to determine the selection order, but is there a native function/property that will return a list of items sorted via selection order?
Thank you for your advice!
The underlying selection model naturally preserves in the order in which items are selected. So you don't really need to do anything special - just iterate over them like this:
for item in treewidget.selectedItems():
print item.text(0)
I have modified the NewForm.aspx page for a SharePoint list, and am changing the visibility of certain div's based on the value of radio input buttons. I'd like these values to be passed to a list field as well. I have a couple of questions regarding this:
1) How can I pass the Yes/No value from the radio input to a SharePoint list field?
2) Can I drop a Yes/No field from the list on the form and use that to control the visibility of my div's?
Thanks.
Since you're already using JavaScript, on your NewForm.aspx you could probably use SPUtility.js; full disclosure, this is an open source library I maintain.
Both of the options you mention are possible. I haven't added support for Yes/No fields (as of v0.3) but you could probably do something like this.
Create a single line of text field (will hold your value in the list). Lets call it "Text Field".
Based on our radio button input, call SPUtility to set the field's value:
SPUtility.GetSPField('Text Field').SetValue('Hello world!');
You could also probably hide "Text Field" so they can't see the value change.
Or... if you wanted to go with option #2, you could help me add support for Yes/No fields. :)
Hopefully this helps.
You can use our Smart List Pro product to modify your list form. We have various capabilities, such as showing/hiding fields depending on values of other fields and user identity, tabbed interface and much much more.
When we will use DrawItem for a listbox?
Normally, if the listbox is ownerdraw, we will use DrawItem. What are the other senarios we use drawitem?
To elaborate on Rashmi Pandit; A ListBox with override DrawItem can also be used to 'visualize' objects. In a project I'm working on, a ListBox is used to display rows from a database. Each row / item is visualized using formatted Strings, Icons etc.
Overriding DrawItem (and MeasureItem!) is ideal for this purpose. Of course, the internal structure has to be tweaked a bit (the standard Items property cannot be used for objects), but it is certainly worthwhile.
Message WM_DRAWITEM is sent only to owner-drawn List boxes.
You can use DrawItem when you want to override the default implementation and custom the way a listbox is drawn. For e.g. in the list there might be some item which should is the default item and you would want it to be highlighted so that the user knows it is the default item.
Here's an eg for a combo in C#: Higlighting a particular item in a combo box
Can any one tell me that, Is is possible in wss to have our custom column in a view of list. The way how we are adding edit and delete column in asp.net grid by setting autogenerateedit button property to true. I have to write my custom login on click event of that button. This action is going to be common for all list items.
Thanks
Sachin K
I am afraid that it is not possible out of the Box in SharePoint (WSS / MOSS). If you want to have such an option, you might need to create a Separate page that will have code to do the opertion. Try out the SPGridView and SPDataSource.
Else I would suggest (Recommend) you to have a look at the DataSheetView option provided by the List, it will list List item details as all editable format, like Excel sheet.
