I want to try, windows azure free trial but our country didn't listed in SMS supported countries, so could not receive any of verification using phone number, is there any workaround?
Check the FAQ's https://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/support/faq/
It lists the countries that Azure is available in.

I am using Windows 7 Professional. When I am trying to start DefaultAppPool in IIS 7.0, I am getting error -
Service WAS was not found on computer '.'.

Currently sharepoint responds to http://sharepoint.mydomain.com. I want it to respond to http://portal.mydomain.com also. This is an intranet site.
Is a DNS alias and alternate access mapping all I need to do? If not what are the necessary steps to accomplish this?
It seems so. Take a look at this: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepointadmin/thread/b76cf17d-85cb-4a5e-9f7b-e0efdf438667 and this: http://dotnetengineer.wordpress.com/2008/06/30/url-aliases-for-your-sharepoint-site/. According to the second link you may want to set Zone setting to Extranet.

What are the web-based clients for XMPP/Jabber. I need run IM client in browser (Windows/Linux FF2-8, Opera 10+, IE 6(?)-8).
I found only one SparkWeb - http://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/sparkweb/index.jsp
Is this the only one?
There's a list of clients on xmpp.org, that includes browser based clients. (Those with Browser in the platform column.)
