I have installed Xdebug, and I can confirm from phpinfo() that it is correctly installed. I have taken all the steps given in all of the sites that come up with I google "netbeans xdebug install, etc".
It still does not work in Netbeans.
Is there any advice that someone can offer?

Only one php.ini is important ! Look at Loaded Configuration File
If you wrote a xdebug entry into another "php.ini" file be sure to clear all these entries again. ( xdebug ONLY in one php.ini ). Look also at Additional .ini files parsed. We come to this later.

Add or controlling, only the first line must be the same as in the "php.ini".( Without " " )
Make sure that the file is really there!
Make sure that the session.save_path is really there!
Control the xdebug version that should be equal to or greater.( Matching PHP Version-5.3.10-1 ). If everything was done as described in this answer, and it does not work, then it is with great probability of an incorrect or defective "xdebug.so".

Start Debug: -- press Debug button
The default Browser opens and remains at Connecting .. stand while Netbeans in debug mode is.
(If Netbeans do not open a Browser or can not connect, go back to Advanced Web Configuration and select Do Not Open Web Browser. Close an reopen the browser and type the URL as seen below)
Go through your code. You will see only something in the browser when you're done with the debugging. Don't forget to press the Stop Button . If you forget this xdebug is running on.

Try using xdebug.remote_connect_back=1 instead of xdebug.remote_host to avoid security issues

Must be enough.
Make sure that project properties->run configuration->advanced->do not open web browser option is NOT selected (in netbeans project config).
Also, check project url value in run configuration
The issue wasn't with the configuration of xdebug itself, but how I had NetBeans configured. It was a simple error... basically I was having NetBeans navigate to my /var/www/Application directory, which I hadn't actually set up yet.

Make sure the remote port is set to 9000 in the xdebug.ini file, mine was set to 8000 and once I changed it, xdebug worked immediately.

I can log in to phpmyadmin and see the main page where the databases are listed in the left-hand panel. But I get an error message. Using F12, I see the following error:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden) config.js:1
There is a config.js file under /usr/share/phpmyadmin/js. There are other js files in that folder that are included in the sources listed in the browser (again, using F12).
I confirmed that the config.js file has read permissions set for everyone. All the js files in that folder have the same permissions set.
I also confirmed that /etc/apache2/conf_enabled/phpmyadmin.conf links to /etc/apache2/conf_available/phpmyadmin.conf and that links to /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf. Neither this apache.conf nor /etc/apache2/apache2.conf deny access to config.js.
When I delete config.js, I do not get the error BUT I get other errors concerning functions that are contained in that config.js (like "Uncaught ReferenceError: isStorageSupported is not defined."). This tells me that the forbidden file is indeed this file. I renamed it and created a new empty config.js - still get the same forbidden error(fwiw).
We've been using phpmyadmin on this server since April. The error has cropped up in the last couple weeks. When I ssh'd into the server this week, it displayed a message that it needed restarted to make updates. I did not know there were auto-updates going on. I restarted, which did not help the problem. Then I updated and upgraded everything but still no help. I uninstalled (remove and purge) and installed phpmyadmin, but still no help.
My next step would be to upgrade phpmyadmin to the latest stable using a different repository (the debian repo is a little behind). But I thought I'd ask here because I have a feeling that might not help either.
I'm thinking that something changed in the server stack that isn't allowing the config.js file to be read; I just have no idea what that would be. Has anyone else seen this or something similar?
I implemented a band-aid: I copied the /usr/share/phpmyadmin/js/config.js file to config.1.js. I edited the code in /usr/share/phpmyadmin/libraries/classes/Header.php to use config.1.js instead of config.js.
No error now!
But I don't like this answer because it doesn't tell me what the original source of the problem is and how to keep it from happening again.
I am newly(about 1 month) started using LAMP and Bootstrap.
I developed a web-site that worked perfectly until I reinstalled LAMP.
Here my progress:
0. reinstalled LAMP
1. moved my "backup-ed" file to my "localhost" direction
2. I run "chmod 777 *" to each dir and file
3. When I write "localhost" to my browser(firefox) the "index.html" is running
4. When I click the link(say: index)
The browser responds:
http://localhost/undefined
Not Found
The requested URL /undefined was not found on this server.
Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80
Is there any way to fix this, by the way it's working(linking) perfectly when I write file:///var/www/html/index.html.
The reason why I want to use LAMP is add .php files to handle form.

What is exactly your document root as per apache conf?
You might need to check that you are placing your files in the root directoy. It should be in the "htdocs" foler.
/opt/lampp/htdocs/
If all else fails, you can try using xampp which is another free alternative to lamp.
I get this a lot, when your browser looks for a file that is not in htaccess you get a forbidden or unfound error. The way to fix this is to make sure the link you click goes to an accessible URL. Try finding if other links in the page or scripts are overwriting your link.
Finally check if you can access it from another browser, or try to demonstrate the security of your machine. From a public library you can request an Ubuntu CD from canonical, and while you're waiting, you can visually inspect your machine for tampering.
I have taken a Angular App which works on Local host when I use visual studio IIE server.
I don't want to use Visual Studio and I am trying to test the app locally using XAMPP.
I am a complete beginner, and I cannot get the local host to pick-up the html initialization file. I have checked the following:
Skype is off and the port is set to 80 in XAMMP
the root server in HTTPd.conf is setup correctly (no slash at end)
I am getting a little confused as to 'how' angular will work on the XAMMP local host.
Do I need to get Yeoman or grunt (seen these apps in some posts, but they seem to be for command line environment).
Any help, or even a pointer to a step by step set-up would be great!
Angular is no different from a normal html web page, when it comes to working in a localhost.
Does your XAMPP work with standard HTML files?
Do you have any error generated?
OK. Got this sorted. I was over complicating things entirely, angular runs sweet on regular XAMPP, no Grunt/ Yeoman etc. required.
All you need to do is: 1. install XAMPP 2. Close Skype 3. Place you app, libraries and everything else in the folder C:\xampp\htdocs\
localhost/Angularappstartpage.html
BOOM!
it works.
You may need to adjust the port number on the localhost (default is 80 e.g. localhost:80/...)
You can also change the root folder in your XAMPP config setup to point to your local GIT.
Do this by changing the line in the HTTPD.conf file (click 'config' on the apache module)
DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs" to DocumentRoot "C:/myLocalGIT"

Skype blocks the port 80, which is used for browsing. XAMPP uses the same port so exactly.

On Intellij Idea when i try to run jsf project on my remote Tomcat 7 server it says:

My answer to my question:
The correct way to deploy remotely is editing JAVA_OPTS environment variable on the remote server. Just enter the command below:
export JAVA_OPTS="-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote=
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=1099
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false"
If that's not going to work and if you don't have any obsession to deploy your website via Intellij Idea, I've got the solution for this problem. To be able to run your website under Tomcat, you can/should get artifact in form of .war file.
It can be done in Intellij from project settings(ctrl+alt+shift+s) then hit the plus button and add new artifact(web:application archieve)
After rebuilding the artifact, .war file can be seen in project-folder\out\artifacts. Next, you should place this file into your tomcat/webapps folder.
For example if you are using Tomcat-7, the folder that I mean exists in /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps. Before copying your .war file you should rename it as ROOT.war. This provides to access your site directly by http://youripaddress:8080. After restarting Tomcat7 service you can access the site.
But not finished yet, you can debug your project remotely like you are debugging your project at your local machine with Intellij Idea. Open Run/Debug Configuration in Idea, hit the plus button and there must be Remote. This is the way to debug your projects for application servers like JBoss, Glassfish as well in Idea. Enter your host and port numbers, select your project as a module.
Before starting to debug, as Intellij says you should give the following parameter to your server JVM:
JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=5005"
To be able to do that in Ubuntu and for Tomcat-7, modified the catalina.sh file in usr/share/tomcat7 folder. I inserted the parameter above of the if [ -z "$LOGGING_MANAGER" ]; then line. It must be on the middle part of the file. Then you should be able to debug your project with Intellij Idea.
I'm running XDebug on Linux CentOS. I want to profile pages on a web app built with CodeIgniter, served by Apache.
XDebug is enabled in php.ini with the following settings:
zend_extension=/usr/lib64/php/modules/xdebug.so
xdebug.profiler_enable = 1
xdebug.profiler_output_dir = /tmp/xdebug
Everything works fine when I trigger php scripts from the command line, and XDebug profile logs are written to /tmp/xdebug, as expected. When I load a url from the web app through the browser, XDebug does not create any profile log files.
Has anyone gotten XDebug to work with Codeigniter? From what I can tell, I should not have to trigger XDebug profiling via GET in the url because profiler_enable is turned on for all php scripts, although I've tried this and it doesn't seem to work either.
Apache needed to have write permissions on the /tmp/xdebug folder.
sudo chown -R apache:apache /tmp/xdebug
XDebug can profile Codeigniter page loads from a browser now.

It seems to me that the issue is not related to CodeIgniter... It seems you may have multiple php.ini files...
In my Ubuntu installation, I have several sub-directories inside /etc/php5 directory: cgi, cli, fpm, etc. Each one of these has a php.ini file inside it, which is specific to a single "mode".
In other words: PHP may have several different php.ini files... one for CLI (command-line), other for CGI, and so on...
Maybe the xdebug configuration lines you pasted above are not in the php.ini file used when you access PHP scripts from the browser. Maybe you added these lines to /etc/php5/cli/php.ini instead of /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini (or another... in my setup, it is /etc/php5/fpm/php.ini, because I use php-fpm)
