Path to HBase jars seems to be broken in Cygwin - cygwin

I've used stack overflow a lot in the past and found it extremely helpful, but I find myself needing to ask my first quest:
I am working on a map reduce project that will use Hbase. I am developing on windows and using cygwin's shell to run Hbase. I have followed all the install steps for installing Hbase on windows, but when I try to run it I get the following error:
cygpath: error converting
"c:\cygwin\usr\local\hbase-0.92.1/conf:/usr/local/jre7/lib/tools.jar:c:\cygwin\usr\local\hbase-0.92.1:c:\cygwin\usr\local\hbase-0.92.1/lib/*.jar"
- Unknown error -1
And then it reports that it can't find the main class for some necessary .jar files which I'm assuming has to do with cygpath not handling the paths to those jars correctly.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can run pyspark.cmd but not pyspark from command prompt

I am trying to get pyspark setup for windows. I have java, python, Hadoop, and spark all setup and environmental variables I believe are setup as I've been instructed elsewhere. In fact, I am able to run this from the command prompt:
pyspark.cmd
And it will load up the pyspark interpreter. However, I should be able to run pyspark unqualified (without the .cmd), and python importing won't work otherwise. It does not matter whether I navigate directly to spark\bin or not, because I do have spark\bin added to the PATH already.
.cmd is listed in my PATHEXT variable, so I don't get why the pyspark command by itself doesn't work.
Thanks for any help.
While I still don't know exactly why, I think the issue somehow stemmed out of how I unzipped the spark tar file. Within the spark\bin folder, I was unable to run any .cmd programs without the .cmd extension included. But I could do that in basically any other folder. I redid the unzip and the problem no longer existed.

Find the Source/Bin Folder of Cassandra Which Installed by HomeBrew

I am having difficulty to find the source of the Cassandra installed on Mac, which the Cassandra was installed using HomeBrew.
We were asked to use the cql files to populating tables, and I checked couple times that the physical cql file is stored in the listed location. However, I would receive the following error message says the file or directory cannot be found. Could anyone advise please? Thanks!
cqlsh:stockwatcher> source '/Users/UserName/Downloads/insertusers.cql';
Could not open '/Users/UserName/Downloads/insertusers.cql':
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/Users/UserName/Downloads/insertusers.cql'
I am not a mac user but did you try whereis cassandra? If not, find / -name cassandra. If that does not work either, try to look for currently running java apps then look at the how the java executable was invoked; which has details like what libraries are included etc from which we can decipher the path.
But the error message looks more like permissions issue.

Not able to execute groovy script from command ".GroovyRuntimeException: Conflicting module versions."

I have run groovy script for a while from command line. Recently I have started to work with spock/groovy in the eclipse. I have run couple of test using Groovy Console when console was loaded from eclipse. Any way after these activities I have tried to execute groovy from command line and it failed with the following error:
Caused by: groovy.lang.GroovyRuntimeException: Conflicting module versions. Module [groovy-xml is loaded in version 2.4.3 and you are trying to load version 2.4.1
I was using gvm tool to reinstall groovy and set is a primary version but still have the problem. Something was changed from eclipse where my groovy installation gets affected and can not be fixed by by reinstalling.
I have some search done but did not find solution. most solution were mentioning this problem but they were trying to fix this withing eclipse, where in my case I am trying to fix it outside of eclipse. Also will be nice if I be able to prevent this from happening in the future. If somebody have similar experience please share.
Thanks,
Alexander

Setting up Cygwin + Android NDK + cocos2Dx to work with Eclipse

I'm following a tutorial from this website: Monetizing Game Apps by Todd Perkins
Access to all the files are not required for the questions I'm asking. I have done research on how to solve this on stack overflow and discussed it below
I have followed the tutorial and it has asked me to:
Install Cygwin
Download Cocos2dx-2.0.1(I know this is old, but I don't want to deal with deprecating problems until I'm more confident with the environment)
Run create-android-project.bat(works fine).
Open project I created- and move to proj.android and run build_native.sh in Cygwin.
Then I open up cygwin.bat, navigate to myproject/proj.android and run ./build_native.sh
Problem:
$ ./build_native.sh
Using prebuilt externals
./build_native.sh: line 74: /cygdrive/c/android-ndk-r9c-windows-x86_64/ndk-build: No such file or directory
So I looked into the files and double-checked my changes:
In create-android-project.bat I modified the following variables:
set _CYGBIN=c:\Cygwin64\bin
set _ANDROIDTOOLS=c:\Program Files (x86)\ADT\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130219\sdk\tools
set _NDKROOT=c:\android-ndk-r9c-windows-x86_64
Check line 74 that cygwin complained about in myproject/proj.android/build_native.sh:
echo "Using prebuilt externals"
$NDK_ROOT/ndk-build -C $GAME_ANDROID_ROOT \
NDK_MODULE_PATH=${COCOS2DX_ROOT}:${COCOS2DX_ROOT}/cocos2dx/platform/third_party/android/prebuilt
Double check what NDK_ROOT is pointing to in build_native.sh:
NDK_ROOT=/cygdrive/c/android-ndk-r9c-windows-x86_64
COCOS2DX_ROOT=/cygdrive/c/Users/DarkRaveDev/Documents/cocos2d-x-2.0.1
GAME_ROOT=$COCOS2DX_ROOT/chaara
GAME_ANDROID_ROOT=$GAME_ROOT/proj.android
RESOURCE_ROOT=$GAME_ROOT/Resources
My Research:
I surfed SO for quite some time and tried the following from SO:
EOL Conversion in Notepad++ so LF works for windows for the build_native.sh
An answer somewhere said I need to install the make package when installing cygwin.. I'm not getting this problem, so I'm not sure if this applies.
I have searched many ways to set path - NDK_ROOT
QUESTION:
What exactly am I doing wrong? Is it the variables are badly set or is cygwin not properly installed?
Thank you to everyone who commented! :)
This is what I ended up doing.
Reinstall Cygwin : When you get to the select packages to install page, make sure to find DEVEL and change the install action from default to install. I know its a lot of megs but it's easier than combing through it. If you do want to comb through it and get only what you need, I suggest using this website: Installing a c++ compiler for windows
Make your paths simple : Like user2359247 suggested.
Finally run the create_android.bat, open your android project. Keep the path location of your build_native.sh file in mind and open your cygwin terminal.
Navigate to the path in cygwin, and run the file with sh build_native.sh: At this point everything was quite smooth sailing.
NOTE:
Also I kept using my version of ndk which is r9 instead of r8 in the tutorial, it didn't give me any hiccups.
Thank you SO!

Matlab Libopencv error using Linux

I am running into errors with opencv. I downloaded a package online and compiled each of the folders by cd into them and running make through the command line. But when I try using one of the functions, I run into this error: libopencv_core.so.2.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The file its trying to reach is indeed there, since I checked this, but for some reason its saying its not. I am pretty bad at figuring out path problems but I think this is one of them. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks
