i am using InstallShield LE on VS2010.
I have a value (text) inside identifier.
the text is being edited in one long line. without editing box.
how can i /n ?
Can i insert a picture ?
attach screen shot of the editing area:
Windows Installer doesn’t support line breaks in static text controls. During installation the text is automatically formatted based on control and font sizes.
If you really want a line break, simply use another static text control for the next line.

After I updated my android studio , the XML formatting is ruined in the layout editor. Initially each attribute was on a separate line. Now however two or three attributes take a line .
I went into Settings->Editor->CodeStyle->XML and under the Layout Files region I have Wrap Attributes set as Wrap Always and Insert Line Break After First attribute is checked.
Yet the effect doesn't appear .
Any pointers?
I had occurred. Coz u r using Project Scheme . To fix this go Preferences>>Code Style>>XML on Scheme Combo Box , change to Default IDE
For Me, I overwrite project to Project Scheme( one that u don't like) with Default IDE. select setting icon and Copy to Project.
After all finished, Close preference pane with OK ,And then u are good to go.
Good Luck!
Just go to File->Settings->Keymap and search Reformat Code. You can find your shortcut to format your code and also you can remove and add new shortcuts for this.
when I code using sublime the code breaks up (without hitting enter) when it goes to the end of the frame of sublime software ... I want the code to be in one line.
Here is what I want ... see this image to know what I mean
Here is what I don't want ... see this image to know what I mean
I want the second image to be like the first one so when I code the code should be in one line unless I hit enter
All you need is click on menu View -> Word wrap, i.e. uncheck it
The RTL languages are not supported in the sublime text editor
I tried this plug-in Bidirectional text support
on windows os
Copied all files from the zip Sublime-Text-2-BIDI-master to the ST3 folder and changed the font type and size.
then I copied the unicodedata.pyd to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 2\Packages\Bidirectional text support\bidi
now the Tools > Bidirectional text part didn't look gray anymore but it is still disabled.
also I copied these two lines but it didn't work
sys.platform.startswith('win'):
sys.path.append('../../..')
Any help would be appreciated
In order to get Sublime Text to work with Arabic characters using Sublime Text BIDI plugin on Windows correctly, ensure you've done the following:
Copy the plugin folder to the following path C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 2\Packages\
Copy unicodedata.pyd from ST installation directory to both, the main plugin folder which in your case is Sublime-Text-2-BIDI-master and inside bidi folder.
Set your sublime user-settings to the following:
{
"font-face": "arial",
"font_size": 11,
"default_encoding": "UTF-8",
"fallback_encoding": "Arabic (Windows 1256)"
}
Reload the plugin by viewing rtl.py and saving
In the case that doesn't fix it, you can read what sublime console log outputs when you click on Bidirectional text for a given Arabic text, console log can be accessed through ctrl+~.
Very Easy,
Just follow this Video steps
دعم اللغة العربية في برنامج Sublime
1- Download the Sublime-BIDI-master folder from Github of solution
2- Extract it and paste under \Sublime Text Build (whatever)\Data\Packages(the downloaded folder).
3- open sublime wit any RTL Language file and right click anywhere you'll new options (Bidirectional text) .. Click it :).
However, in my Sublime version (build 3126), Arabic letters will be reshaped when switching to Bidi.
Initially in the range U+0621-U+064A, which are the usual Unicode codes for Arabic letters, characters will be mapped to the range U+FE70-U+FEFC, which are codes for each (isolated, initial, middle, final) Arabic connected forms. These latter codes, called Arabic-Presentation-Forms-B, are deprecated by Unicode and their usage should be very limited.
For example, before switching to Bidi, the word كتب, looks ب ت ك, from left to right U+0643 U+062A U+0628. This is the memory order. (It is up to the final rendering tool to display the string in visual order by connecting letters.)
After Bidi switching in Sublime, the word will appear good as كتب, because the codes are ﺐ U+FE90 followed by ﺘ U+FE98 followed by ﻛ U+FEDB. In this order. That means, in a Bidi enabled tool like a browser, it will appear ﺐﺘﻛ as the final visual order. This is not what the user expects.
So, not only Bidi switching changes the letters code, it also changes the memory order.
Personal experience.
When editing a source file (HTML and other languages or formats) containing some RTL characters, it is really tricky to navigate in the text edited. So the mode "before" (logical or memory order) might be very helpful than the mode "after" (visual or display order). With logical order, it's useless to join letters, it doesn't make sens.
Check this link, I had the same problem but solved it with the Sublime Text BIDI plugin.
I was still facing an issue because of the editor's font. It will be recommended to use a fixed-width font like Courier New. This should ensure the plug-in works as expected.
Is there a way to change the color of a tab (in the tab bar) according to the path of the file?
I tried with the PythonScript plugin, but couldn't find a method to change the color of a tab.
I need this because I edit scripts from two environments at the same time, from a LIVE environment, and from a development environment, and I need to be extra careful when editing a LIVE file.
I was looking for a programmatic way to change the color of the tabs, and reviewed the online documentation of Notepad++ but did not find anything about it. So, instead, I propose the following method for your case, it could be helpful to always know which of your files are from the development environment and which from the live environment:
Open a blank instance of Notepad++:
Now start a macro recording: Press Start Recording button on Notepad++ toolbar:
Open a new document
Now you'll have two open blank tabs.
Right click newly open tab and click in option Move to other view from contextual menu
You'll have a window splitted vertically and your two tabs will be displayed next to each other. You'll use these two tabs as separated "containers" for your files
Press Stop Recording button:
Save your just recorded macro:
assign a keyboard shortcut:
Now you can run that recorded macro (from Macro menu, or invoking keyboard shortcut you assigned), every time you want to work on your two environments.
(Optional) Right click vertical separator between "containers" and click Rotate to right
Now your "containers" will be split horizontally and will be displayed one above the other. Personally, I'd recommend you this layout.
Click on the tab at first "container" and from there, open all your "dev" environment files; and analogously open all your "live" environment files from second "container". Note that currently selected container has a more intensely coloured active tab.
If you notice that your working space is small, drag the separator to increase your current "container" size, but I recommend you not to take it completely towards the end, because it will make difficult to differentiate which of the two "containers" you are working on.
Note: If you, mistakenly opened a file of an environment from the wrong "container" you'll always be able to fix that by dragging the tab and dropping it to the other "container":
So you'll always keep control of what files must be on each container.
That's it. I hope this info will be helpful for you.
About changing the color of the tab (not folder specific).
Notepad++ has a file called stylers.xml, located in the roaming folder or in the program folder. It also depends in the installation & windows version. If it does not exists then it is self generated.
At the very end of the file, it says
<WidgetStyle name="Inactive tabs" styleID="0" fgColor="xxxxx" bgColor="xxxxxx" />
And here it is possible to change the color of the inactive tab.
However, it does not work, it is a bug that has been "fixed" countless of times in the past. To the date, the current version 6.2.3 UNICODE, changing the values does nothing.
So far, editing the stylers.xml:
6.2.3 = does nothing
design guideline, gray + gray = not good.
6.2.0 = does nothing
6.1.8 = works.
Nice contrast
6.1 = works.
5.9.8 = works.
5.7 = edit works.
ps: sadly,it is not possible to change the fonts of the tabs.
Wanted to add this as a comment, the button's not there.
You can solve your actual problem by using multiple instances of notepad++, refer this. You can save different sessions and optionally use the "Open File In Solution (OFIS)" plug-in.
I've if you've picked a different Style like 'Black Board', then you will have to change these setting in it's .XML in '/themes', and these setting are found at the bottom of the file.
I want to add some text on a dialog in VS 2005. I have installed Microsoft SDK on my system.
The text which I want to add is very big, it runs upto 4 pages.
So I decided to add edit control with scrollbar, which I am not able to do.
I tried adding through string table, but formatting was not maintained.
Plz let me know, how to show a formatted text upto 4 pages on a dialog.
My application is non MFC application.
Thanks in advance

The edit control has a hard limit of 65k worth of text. You may be running into that. Try a rich edit control.
Have you tried to set the MultiLine attribute of your edit control?
Have you tried manually adding "\r\n" for next line or "\t" for tab in the string buffer. That may do the trick.
Update: Say you want to break the text in two lines TCHAR szEditBoxBuffer[] = TEXT("Hello\r\nWorld"); may do the trick. For tabs TCHAR szEditBoxBuffer[] = TEXT("Hello\tWorld"); This is tedious but this is what i could think of.
