I am using Liferay 6 with Struts2 .
I am able to display my portlet and its working fine .
Now my question on liferay startup , (that is when i enter
http:localhost:8086 ) it shows up default liferay screen
(This screen )
Please tell me , how can we show our Custom JSP instead of this page .
You can see that the page Welcome can be edited to achieve what you want customizing this page. The direct URL is /web/guest.

Try restarting the portal. Clear browser cache. Try adding the portlets to new page. This shall help.
I have the next requirement: every user can change position of portlet in a page but this change is only applied for this user no for all. I know that it is possible with layout and it works fine (the portlets are possible move ), but my main problem is when "x" user changes the position of a portlet because it is applied for all users. so you have any idea for how do I this?

From liferay 6.1 onwards,it provides for page customizations,where in admin can defined certain sections of the page layout as customizable allowing users to add/move/delete portlets,in specific sections.These changes will be specific to the particular user and will not be visible for others.The user has the option to anytime view the default page or to reset his customizations as well.
In order to enable this,Edit page->customization settings->Show Customizable settings and check the required sections.

Can any one please guide me that how can we render the custom web page view in the portlet?
For example, I have a input text box in my where user can enter the target URL and on click of the submit button the portlet content should display the target URL page.
I don't want to use the existing core portlet (IFrame). I need to design my own with some business logic.
Any guidelines or suggestions on how to render a webpage in the portlet?

I am using eclipse ide and I have created a liferay project Test-portlet. I haven't written any code for this project
When I ran this project I got the usual welcome screen and I added the Test-portlet to the page and removed other stuff from the page.
I actually want to create a website using liferay. The website already exists which should be rewritten in liferay.
So when I load the project I get this welcome screen and the Test-portlet. At the top of this page I get the the menu-Admin,Sites,.... and LIferay logo on LHS.
I wish to remove all of these and displa only the web page data of the website. I know I can use themes and layouts for such purpose.
If I should use portlet to create this website , how should I keep adding pages and designs?
Also how should I add pages,themes,templates to this portlet?
Before creating this Test-portlet project, I had created pages using control panel.
How should I create this website? Using portlet by creating project?

Also this Test-portlet is displayed as a small portlet on the entire page. WHen click on the gear symbol and click on maximise, it only maximises during that time and when project is run again, it comes back to its original size.
Should I create this websiste using portlets?
Data for website comes from database. Few pages have static data.
Subsequent pages may be added in future.

I am using Liferay version 6.06. I have developed a Login Portlet using Liferay plugins SDK under which the View JSP consists of a login screen. Upon submitting credentials from this view JSP it will be received by the processAction Method of my Custom Portlet class. All this works good.
I have two questions:
Currently the Login Portlet is being part of Sample Category under Liferay screen (I want to have my own screen, where initially upon entering http://localhost:8080/mycontext, I want to show that Login screen).
And once the credentials are received inside the processAction method of my Custom Portlet class, I want to display my own two portlets.
Could anybody tell me how to achieve this?
Beside you don't need a customized login for your Usecase, in case you still need to customize the login process you should:
build a hook which is a kind of plugin able to interact with Liferay's core functionalities.

and put your business logic after successfull user login
