I have created new aspx file within a module which I am going to use it as instead of newsbsite.aspx for create workspaces. I have deployed it and I can browse to it via my custom action link (site settings).
I have my own webtemplates.
What I want to do is using mynewsbsite.aspx to show only my webtemplates (not others) and implement permision inheritance and all other staff you can find in the original newsbsite.aspx. but I cann't.
is there anybody who can help me with this problem? thank you so much.
Use SPWeb.GetAvailableWebTemplates Method (UInt32) to get all the templates and filter out the out of the box ones.

According to requirement of application, I have developed a custom web part in Kentico 9. This web part is using with same functionality at various places but we have to use with different layout structure.
As per my understanding, we can create custom layouts for a single web part from "Layout Tab" in web part configuration. As I used same things with various Kentio built in web part like Logon form, Logon-Mini form, etc.
But while trying to create new layout for my custom web part, I am getting web part loading error and when I checked into event log it is showing following error:
The file
'/CMSVirtualFiles/WebPartLayouts/=vg=87a868ce-926c-4cb3-a441-b4f1d4310afc/TDNForgottenPassword/ForgottenPassword.ascx.cs'
does not exist.
Here, internally system looking for ".CS" file under "CMSVirtualFiles" folder, which has actually under the "CMSWebParts" directory in which I have created my user control.
Is there any specific configuration required in custom web part to implement multiple layout of it? Please help me and guide me, what am I missing or doing wrong?
Check your webpart code file property in the ascx file. You need to specifically declare the full relative path to the .cs file and not just the filename. For example:
Correct
CodeFile="~/CMSWebParts/Community/GroupRegistration.ascx.cs"
Incorrect
CodeFile="GroupRegistration.ascx.cs"
Please make sure you don't have the store virtual files in the file system setting enabled.
I have created portlets for liferay and prepare couple of pages. Now I want to create installation script, which create pages definition in customer liferay server. I know that pages export/import is possible using LAR file, but this could be done only manualy, or using remote publishing which i am not able to do.
I was searching on net and found ddm tool. Which should be able to do that. Unfortunately i'm not able to get it work as it export only web content, blogs, wikis, etc, but not pages with portlets. It is probably because one of the condition is "Every Template must be assigned to a Structure. Don't create any templates on the Liferay server which does not have a structure connected to it.
". But how can I assign page to structure ? Cant find anything.
Or is there any other option for automatic page creation, which could be used ?
In case you created a custom theme, you can easily use the "resources importer" to create an entire site via the "sitemap.json" file (define pages: choose layout, assign portlets to the columns, ...). You can also export existing content as xml from the current instance and import them via the theme. Same thing for web content structures and templates.

Unfortunately theme is produced by another supplier, so this solution isn't suitable for me.
at the end i find working solution which consist of following steps:
create plugin hook
in hook setup upgrade process
in the upgrade process create pages with appropriate layout, friendlyUrl, etc. All these is possible to do using liferay api

I have a sharepoint solution package with a Custom UserControl inside. When I deploy the .wsp the user control is placed in the CONTROLTEMPLATES directory. Is there any way to "delay" this step until feature is activated?
In other words what I would like my custom user control to be available only after the feature is activated.
As far as I know this is not possible. On deploy all the needed files are copied to the correct location. It is actually feature independant, because you don't even need a feature to deploy files. You will see that a feature is automatically created when you for ex. add a webpart to your solution. Not when you add a mapped folder.
What are you trying to achieve with delaying the usercontrol? What you can do is check in your usercontrol if a certain feature is active and adapt the rendering of your usercontrol accordingly. Ex. Show message that the feature should be activated before using the control.
I want to create a custom new item page for sharepoint but there are two approached that I
can use and I want to share your experience in determining which is better.
The first: is to create a page in a library then create a C# library project to handle
the events of the controls on the page.
The second: is to define a feature of the content type of my list and specify the new
item form to be my custom form, then create a website containing the custom form and put
this site at the layouts folder.
for me the first approach is fine but the problem is that a user may access the default
sharepoint new item form which I don't want to happen.
but I don't like the idea of placing the form in a library on the site.
so which is better in your opinion ?
thanks
i suggest you to go with your second approach ...
Create a completely new feature that allows you add your functionalty of page creation and any customization realted to that and deploy this one to the 12 hive features folder as a new feature and every time you want have such a page created you can you this template and create the page...
Well, frankly, I'm confused by both of your suggestions.
I don't see how the first one would ever work.
And the second one; you don't "put sites in the layouts folder".
Here's what I would suggest you to do:
Download and install the WSS Extensions for Visual Studio.
Create a List Definition using these new templates.
Copy the NewForm.aspx from the 12 hive and Customize it.
Download and install the WSP Builder from Codeplex.com
Add your custom list definitions and files to a new Feature project in WSP Builder.
Package the Feature up to a .wsp using WSP Builder and you are good to go.
Your custom page(s) should be placed in your custom folders in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
Your concern in the first approach is that people will still be able to access the default form. If you are not opposed to using a custom control template for a content type definition, I recommend creating a very simple redirect control template and assigning it to the content type's "New Form". Such a control template need only contain one custom control, which has an OnInit or OnLoad method that contains little more than a Page.Response.Redirect call. Make that redirect point to the page you create in your first approach, and now whenever anyone tries to access the default new form for that content type, they will instead be directed to your custom page with all of your custom code. It is perhaps a bit of a hack, but it's definitely functional.
More SharePoint questions from me again today! I thank everyone that has helped thus far!
Here is my situation:
I have to create a custom application inside of sharepoint. I am using a document library which hosts web part pages and i am using Web User Controls to do all the manipluating and displaying of data. Once I build the app the way i want, I am going to turn the doc lib into a template that way i can create the same thing on multiple sites (many customers using this app).
The issue that I am running into is that I need to know what happens/how do I update it so that my changes will apply itself to all sites that are referencing the template.
HELP! anyone who knows how to do this OR has a better idea for creating custom apps that multiple sites will be able to take advantage of would be SO helpful!
Thanks
Short answer is that you cannot accomplish this, even with a custom site/list definition.
Once a site or list is created from a site or list definition, it is basically on its own (layouts and master pages modifications, however, do get applied to all sites referencing them).
Once workaround would be to create a site feature that iterates through sites and performs whatever custom action you wish to do.
For requirement like this, you really should create custom list/site definition. NOT just save customized list into template.
Anything you have updated in list/site definition will be reflect to the sites that are referencing the definitions. Unfortunately this is not the case for Template. You will have to delete the old list you have on other sites, then re-create them again with new template.
