Can anyone tell me if it is possible to update a sharepoint document field from a CRM2011 workflow?
Thanks, Nuno
Yes. In order to do, within the context of the CRM2011 Workflow, you would need have a reference to the SharePoint url, and the item that you want to update. you would also need to have access to the SharePoint environment.
this would have to be done in a Custom workflow assembly or an asynchronous plugin.
If you add more detail to your question, I may be able to give you a more detailed answer.

I have a requirement where I need to auto fill the values in the Add Document Location Box when a User clicks on Documents in the Dynamics CRM 2016. I don't think there is an out of the box way to do this. Any hints or suggestions are appreciated.
I tried creating a sharepoint document location record on creating the record. When I click on Documents, it tries to find the URL for the location and gives an error that the location does not exist. I had hoped that the sharepoint folder will be created once the Sharepoint document location record has been created and associated with the record but that is not the case.
In case you have ever faced this problem, or if you have an alternative solution, please let me know.
Thanks!
In CRM 2016 you can enable server-based SharePoint integration. As a side note, in previous versions of CRM the List Component was required for the functionality you describe, but that is now deprecated.
When clicking on Documents on a SharePoint enabled record, you will see a popup similar to the following after enabling the server-based SharePoint integration:
I have a requirement to copy all Notes and Activities while converting Lead to Contact and vice versa.
When I Qualifying Lead to Contact I use my custom plugin which is triggered by QualifyLead event. There is no out of the box solution to convert Contact to Lead so I use my custom on-demand dialog. But this dialog unable to run my custom plugin (which will copy Notes and Activities from Contact to Lead).
Please help me to find a way to copy all this stuff from Contact to Lead.
You can create a Custom Workflow Activity with the code of your custom plugin and uses as step inside your on-demand dialog.
You can start from here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg328515.aspx
Another way that you can do this is to simply reference the notes from the Lead in the Contact, Account, or Opportunity entities using an IFrame and some JavaScript as described in http://030bacf.netsolhost.com/WordPress/?cat=69 . Depending on how many records you have, potentially this could even be a better solution since you are only keeping one copy of the notes which will help keep the size of the database more manageable and performance better. Or you could use this solution for the notes and the solution recommended by Guido for the Activity records. I had to make a change to the URL used for CRM 2013 and have copied that part below.
//src="/"+context.getContext().getOrgUniqueName()+"/_controls/note/notesdata.aspx?id="+lookupItem[0].id+"&ParentEntity=3&EnableInlineEdit=false&EnableInsert=false";
// change to this for CRM 2013
src=serverUrl+"/"+Xrm.Page.context.prependOrgName("/_controls/notes/notesdata.aspx?id="+lookupItem[0].id+"&ParentEntity=3&EnableInlineEdit=false&EnableInsert=false");
I`m interested in adding SharePoint Workflow Modification programmatically from my workflow, without using forms.
What i'm trying to achieve - I want to add Workflow modification when user uploads new document version to document library. I have OnWorkflowItemChanged and from there i'm willing to add WF Modification.
Is this possible?
To clarify some things:
I`m writing a custom Workflow in Visual Studio.
What I want is to add items to (SPWorkflowModificationCollection) SPWorkflow.Modifications object. However there is no Add method, but the designed way to add items there is by using Workflow Modification forms.
In this case, i don't want user to use modification form, but i want to add workflow modifications (which will populate the collection AND triger OnWorkflowModified event).
I am not 100% sure what you mean by workflow modification. Do you want to modify the workflow itself from a workflow or just modify a document or item from a SharePoint Workflow?
Regardless, I'll give you the same answer to what was accepted as the answer to a similar question.
Workflow is one of the strong parts of SharePoint. Out-of-the box you or your users can build workflows using the free SharePoint Designer. Depending on your exact requirements this may be good enough.
If you need a more advanced workflow editor then you may want to consider Nintex Workflow or K2. Alternatively you can write your own workflows in Visual Studio or buy 3rd part Workflow Actions for SharePoint Designer.
I have included some useful links below:
Building workflows using SharePoint Designer
Creating workflows using Visual Studio
3rd Part Workflow actions to embed VB or C# directly into SharePoint Designer Workflows. Note that I have worked on this product so consider my recommendation biased ;-)
I would like to know if its possible to change permissions on a folder (and I guess all its child objects) and I need to do this in a workflow.
Any ideas how this is done. I can program the functionality if required?
Thanks
If you're building a workflow in Visual Studio you can do this from the SharePoint API in the same manner that you would in any other type of code. There are no actions out of the box to change permissions with SharePoint Designer workflows, there's a custom activity on CodePlex that claims to be able to manage permissions on list items, but looking at the comments it doesn't look as promising as you might hope.
I'm reading Professional Microsoft SharePoint 2007 Workflow Programming.
This book provides some detailed info on how SharePoint works, but not the procedures to create workflow.
I wonder how to create a ASP.NET association form (instead of InfoPath form).
Thanks in advance!
You might want to have a look at http://www.codeplex.com/wss3workflow
This project provides some templates for creating an assoication form. Even if you don't continue to use them, they might help you learn how to create them.
