Dear StackOverflow members,
I'm currently facing an issue with one of my SharePoint server, the contentclass assigned to the crawled content is never set.
I noticed that when my scopes returned 0 result (I'm filtering on contentclass=sts_list_item_850). A quick search with the neat ZevenSea SearchCoder within the crawled content confirmed this
(no content class is available, field is empty accross all crawled content).
I deleted my scopes, did a full crawl, even deleted my SSP and create a new one, running the configuration wizard but this behavior is still here and I've no clue why it's the case.
If you have any idea what could be the culprit, I'm eager to know.
Thanks a lot for any feedback.
I also had the same issue and I noticed that in the search schema the mappings of the managed property were not complete. I added all the mappings in the correct order and the issue has gone (I copied mapping and order from a farm where it was working well).

We are currently migrating our EDMS into SharePoint. As part of this workstream, I recently set up a SharePoint site with a Quick Part Label containing just the version number - as per the instructions here.
This worked fine in testing, now a few users have been added to the site and the migration works have begun. The option for "Label" within Quick Parts has simply dissapeared.
I tried some trouble shooting on Friday and found the following:
Recovering an old document from the recycle bin, still contain a correct version number label.
This label can be copy and pasted to a new document, and it correct applies the label quick part with the new documents version.
I set up a new test site and the Quick Part Label behaved exactly as expected, meaning the issue is within the Live SharePoint site itself.
I turned off labels and reset them. With no success.
I am opening in the app, the library has minor versions, check-in/check-out turned on (and currently approvals are turned off).
I also suspected that OneDrive sync might cause issues, but this again didn't seem to solve anything in the test site.
NB: this is also posted here, I will keep both threads up to date.

Update 20/12/22
Since this morning I have now taken the following additional steps:
Added a new content type
Recreated the label for that content type
Change the content type of the document in the library, and the label
option now appears
This seems like a fix, but I am also curious as to limitations of
this method.
Limitations noticed so far: cannot edit SharePoint columns in the
details pane
I'm having a problem that just randomly occured, and I have no idea what caused this and how to fix it.
So I have a searchbox that is supposed to use my search settings. Here are my current search settings:
Settings
Settings 2
My problem is that even though I configure my searchbox to use this sites' search settings, it ignores it. Instead of using /results.aspx?u={searchboxQuery} as specified in the settings, it uses /results.aspx?k={searchboxQuery}
I'm also using a custom Result Source:
{searchboxQuery} Path:https://mypage/Pages
The searchbox works if you provide exact matches, but if you try to shorten a word, no result is displayed. The result query itself works correctly, displaying all the correct pages, but not with search queries.
Any help would be highly appreciated, it's quite an annoying problem
I remember running into this a while back. I ended up using a Search Results template from the Pages library (Publishing needs to be turned on. Trying to create the connections myself was too much of a headache.
I know there are threads out there about making changes to the refinement panel and they have so far been very helpful but now I have a question that I need a bit more assistance with.
I've created a new filter for the refinement panel. That worked very fine.
I can see the filter, when I perform a search.
But when I click on the new filter, all search results disappear and it just says: "We did not find any results for ".
I can see that the url gets my created filter attached:
results.aspx?...&r=filterfield%3D%22True%22
I have created a managed metadata property and added the field to the search results (search core results webpart).
What I'm doing wrong? Why it doesn't work?
Any hints?
Thanks for any help.
I found the reason. I forgot to start a full crawl after creating the managed metadata field.
We are using Liferay as a classic CMS meaning that we compose pages using web content articles. There is an issue with Liferay's internal search I could not yet find a proper answer for:
Because web content articles are pretty much only building blocks for pages we don't want the search to show them as distinct items. The user should only get a list of pages that contain their search keywords, including all the articles put onto this page.
At the moment we can see two different approaches and both come with certain problems we could not solve yet:
Idea 1
We modify the journal indexer and try to obtain all URLs of the pages (how?) where the article has been placed on. Then we add them to the document to be indexed. In the search result we then can access the URLs and collect them. In the end we make sure every URL is only shown once.
Idea 2
At some point Liferay renders the entire page before sending it to the browser. If we somehow could put an indexer there, we could index the entire page. We then could limit the search to the special "page documents". Getting the fully rendered page would be the main issue here, because either we would have to run a crawler to frequently trigger this indexing or we would need to find a way to trigger page rendering from within an indexer or something like that.
I have been carrying this problem around for quite a while now and still could not find an idea good enough to spend time trying it out. If anyone of you has some input on those two ideas or maybe an entirely different approach, I would be extremely grateful.
I'll just answer myself, because by now we found a suitable solution to solve our problem:
In addition to the default search portlet there is also a "Web Content Search Portlet" shipped with Liferay. It seems to have been part of Liferay for quite a while now, but it's somewhat hard to find, because there is hardly any documentation for it (I only found the Liferay wiki page, which isn't really anything at all). It searches only within web content articles and shows links to the pages rather than just a link an isolated view of the article. It has much less configuration options than the default search portlet, however. Pretty much all it allows to change is whether articles actually have to be placed on at least one page to show up in the results.
So there is no need for any kind of custom indexer or any other "hack"...all we need to do is use the correct portlet. We will only need to write a hook that changes the appearance of the result page.
What you ask is interesting but your ideas are on the wrong direction.
Specially idea 2 it's particulary wrong because you cannot do indexing work meanwhile a page is rendered. Think about performace only.
In Liferay pages and assets are not directly linked: pages have portlets and portlets display assets (web content and more).
Liferay indexing refers and scans assets content, not refers the display result of the assets. Think about permission: the same page can display different contents depends on the user who looks.
bye
I have worked with ModX for a while, but can't seem to sort this issue. When I login as the admin in to the manager, the resources list is incomplete with not all documents displaying. I can however locate the files via the 'search' area just above.
I have done the normal, empty cache, flush permissions etc. without any joy. Interesting enough its always the same files, and they are showing in the front end.
Any help welcome on this one!
Update
When I click the blog (which is an articles resource) only the template variables panel is showing, nothing else. Page looks a little broken...
Update 2
If i remove the blog, (articles) the pages show. And... If I move the articles container higher, all resources show.
Are you using multiple contexts? I've noticed this behaviour a few times when drag and dropping folders with nested resources from one context to folder in another context.
Moving them back to the original context made them re-appear.
If you're familiar with MySQL GUIs like phpMyAdmin you could check and search the *modx_site_content* table and maybe correct the value in the resources' parent field manually. As Mark said it might well be a parent gone MIA.
Typically, parents rarely go MIA and by that I mean once every couple years....
Did you set up ACLs or Resource Groups?
Is your manager user a member of those groups?
