DLL issues after upgrading from VS2008 to VS2010 - visual-c++

I'm dealing with this issue: We have recently upgraded to VS2010 and I am working on recompiling all of our software tools in '10. One of these tools in VC++ was created by an outside vendor. We have the source code for this tool (fairly old) and its required dll (also fairly old), although we don't have the source for the dll. The problem arises when I build the project and get several unresolved externals (LNK2019). I've used a dll export viewer and verified that the dll is in fact exporting the right functions, and I've experimented with a few other workarounds to no avail. The only explanation I can come up with is that the dll, likely built in VS2005, also needs to be rebuilt in VS2010 - although my experience (which I admit is limited) tells me that this should not be necessary.
My question is: Is this really an issue? Does a dll built in an older version of VS need to be rebuilt in the version that the project that uses it is currently using?
I can provide more details if necessary.
Thank you,
Andy

type error in functions to run point in polygon query on RAPIDS

I want to create a point in polygon query for 14million NYC taxi trips and find out which of the 263 taxi zones the trips were located.
I want to the code on RAPIDS cuspatial. I read a few forums and posts, and came across cuspatial polygon limitations that users can only perform queries on 32 polygons in each run. So I did the following to split my polygons in batches.
This is my taxi zone polygon file

[98192 rows x 2 columns])
There are 263 polygons/ taxi zones in total - I want to do queries in 24 batches and 11 polygons in each iteration.
def create_iterations(start, end, batches):
iterations = list(np.arange(start, end, batches))
iterations.append(end)
return iterations
pip_iterations = create_iterations(0, 264, 24)
#loop to do point in polygon query in a table
def perform_pip(cuda_df, cuspatial_data, polygon_name, iter_batch):
cuda_df['borough'] = " "
for i in range(len(iter_batch)-1):
start = pip_iterations[i]
end = pip_iterations[i+1]
pip = cuspatial.point_in_polygon(cuda_df['pickup_longitude'], cuda_df['pickup_latitude'],
cuspatial_data[0][start:end], #poly_offsets
cuspatial_data[1], #poly_ring_offsets
cuspatial_data[2]['x'], #poly_points_x
cuspatial_data[2]['y'] #poly_points_y
)
for i in pip.columns:
cuda_df['borough'].loc[pip[i]] = polygon_name[i]
return cuda_df
When I ran the function I received a type error. I wonder what might cause the issue?
pip_pickup = perform_pip(cutaxi, cusptaxizone, pip_iterations)
TypeError: perform_pip() missing 1 required positional argument: 'iter_batch'
It seems like you are passing in cutaxi for cuda_df, cusptaxizone for cuspatial_data and pip_iterations for polygon_name variable in perform_pip function. There is no variable/value passed for iter_batch defined in perform_pip function:
def perform_pip(cuda_df, cuspatial_data, polygon_name, iter_batch):
Hence, you get the above error which states that iter_batch is missing. As stated in the above comment as well you are not passing the right number of parameters for perform_pip function.
If you edit your code to pass in the right number of variables to perform_pip function the above mentioned error :
TypeError: perform_pip() missing 1 required positional argument: 'iter_batch'
would be resolved.

Parsing error when reading a specific Pajek (NET) file with Networkx into Jupyter

I am trying to reading this pajek file in Google Colab's version of Jupyter and I get an error when executing the following very simple code:
J = nx.MultiDiGraph()
J=nx.read_pajek("/content/data/graphdatasets/jazz.net")
print(nx.info(J))
The error is the following:
/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/networkx/readwrite/pajek.py in parse_pajek(lines)
211 except AttributeError:
212 splitline = shlex.split(str(l))
--> 213 id, label = splitline[0:2]
214 labels.append(label)
215 G.add_node(label)
ValueError: not enough values to unpack (expected 2, got 1)
With pip show networkx, I see that I'm running Networkx version: 2.3. Am I doing something wrong in the code?
Update: Pasting below the file's first few lines:
*Vertices 198
*Arcs
*Edges
1 8 1
1 24 1
1 35 1
1 42 1
1 46 1
1 60 1
1 74 1
1 78 1
According to the Pajek definition the first two lines of your file are not according to the standard. After *vertices n, n lines with details about the vertices are expected. In addition, *edges and *arcs is a duplicate. NetworkX assumes use for an edge list, which started with *arcs a MultiDiGraph and for *edges a MultiGraph (see current code). To resolve your problem, you only need to delete the first two lines of your .net-file.

Using Python-pptx, what conditions could a PowerPoint have that give KeyError?

I have a PowerPoint that I would like to open, amend, and save as a different filename. However, I'm getting a KeyError.
I tried this code with a blank PowerPoint presentation and it works perfectly. However, when I use the code to ope an existing PowerPoint presentation and try to run the same code, I get a KeyError.
KeyError: "There is no item named 'ppt/slides/NULL' in the archive"
#Replace Source Text
import re
#s = "string. With. Punctuation?"
#s = re.sub(r'[^\w\s]','',s)
search_str = '{{{FILTER}}}'
repl_str = re.sub(r'[^\w\s]','',(str(list(dashboard_filter2.values()))))
ppt = Presentation('HispPres1.pptx')
for slide in ppt.slides:
for shape in slide.shapes:
if shape.has_text_frame:
shape.text = shape.text.replace(search_str, repl_str)
ppt.save('HispPresSourceUpdate.pptx')
I expect to have the existing PowerPoint amended by finding all the instances of {{{FILTER}}} and replacing it with the value listed. However, it looks like there's a problem using my existing PowerPoint presentation. I don't have this issue with a blank presentation.
So, I'm wondering what would cause an existing PowerPoint presentation to raise an error??? I plan on making several "templates" to start with and really need to know if there are any hardfast rules to adhere to.

Yeah, this is a bit of a thorny problem. The spec doesn't provide for a "broken" relationship (one that refers to a package-part that doesn't exist), but at least one library (Java-based if I recall correctly) does not clean up relationships properly in some cases, perhaps a slide delete operation in this case.
The gist of the explanation is this:
A PPTX file is an Open Packaging Convention (OPC) package. DOCX and XLSX files are other examples of OPC packages.
An OPC package is a Zip archive of multiple parts (official term, perhaps package-part more precisely). Each part is essentially a file, so something like slide1.xml, and they are arranged in a "directory structure".
One part can be related to other parts. For example, a presentation part (presentation.xml) is related to each of its slide parts. These relationships are stored in a file like presentation.xml.rels. The relationship is keyed with a string like "rId3" and identifies the related part by its path in the package.
One part refers to another using the key in its XML (e.g. <p:sldId r:id="rId3"/>). The target part is "looked-up" in the .rels file to find its path and get to it that way.
The KeyError you're getting means that the .rels file has a <Relationship> element referring to the part ppt/slides/NULL (instead of something like ppt/slides/slide3.xml). Since there is no such part in the package, the lookup fails.
If you open the "template" file in PowerPoint and save it, I think it will repair itself. You might need to rearrange a slide and move it back to jostle that part of the code.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to patch the package by hand, removing any broken references and relationships. opc-diag can be handy for that.
You can clean the PPTX from the dangling relations through:
File -> Info -> Check for Issues -> Inspect Document.
Clean up, save, replay python script.
So, thanks Scanny for the help. You're exactly right. The lookup was looking for ppt/slides/slide#.xml and it wasn't finding a relationship for it. The reason is because the relationships are coded as just slides/slide#.xml (without ppt/). I did get into the opc-diag to see what I could do there, but I found an easy fix.
My previous code had a line that said for slide in ppt.slides: and this was the error: KeyError: "There is no item named 'ppt/slides/NULL' in the archive". When browsed the PresentationML using opc-diag, I found that the relationship was set up like this: <Relationship Id="x" Type="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/relationships/slide" Target="slides/slide1.xml"/>\n. The relationship does not include ppt.
So, to get rid of that lookup and have it match the way PowerPoint stores the slide relationships, I changed these lines:
ppt = Presentation('HispPres1.pptx')
for slide in ppt.slides:
to this
ppt = Presentation('HispPres1.pptx')
slides = ppt.slides
for slide in slides:

How to debug USB HID scancode-keycode translation in Linux

I have recently converted a 122-key terminal keyboard to USB as a configfs USB gadget (the keyboard portion is using HID codes), it works quite well in except that I cannot seem to get my Archlinux installation to recognize certain HID codes (specifically at the moment F13-F24) and translate them into event codes that I can use in X.
HID codes received properly
I am able to see the HID being received by the computer through /dev/hidraw2 (the output below is when pressing F24, HID code 0x73 based on: https://gist.github.com/MightyPork/6da26e382a7ad91b5496ee55fdc73db2.
sudo hexdump -C /dev/hidraw2
00000000 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 73 00 00 00 00 00 |..........s.....|
HID codes not translated to events
However, as soon as I try showkey -s, evtest, or xev I get absolutely nothing, it is as if I am not pressing a key. All of the "normal" HID codes work (in fact this message is being typed on the keyboard right now) so it must be something between the receipt of the HID code and its translation.
Interestingly, my evtest capabilities do not list the event codes for the F13-F24 (see below) but I have seen these capabilities listed in other people's output (eg https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/130656/how-to-get-all-my-keys-to-send-keycodes).

Is it the driver?
Based on the difference between my evtest EV_KEY capabilities and others I have seen I thought maybe it is that my driver can't map the USB HID codes to the appropriate event codes.
Using hwinfo I can tell that my keyboard is using the hid-generic driver. Looking at the source for hid-input.c (http://elixir.free-electrons.com/linux/v3.5.2/source/drivers/hid/hid-input.c) I can see that the mapping is indeed there (the HID code 0x73 maps to 194 which maps to the KEY_F24 event, at least according to what I found here: https://github.com/wayland-project/libinput/blob/master/include/linux/input-event-codes.h). So I am led from what I have read online to believe that the problem lies somewhere between the hid-generic and libinput.
I'm not sure where to go from here, with nothing coming out of evtest I am not sure what to map the keys to. Is it just that the capability for those keys isn't defined? Is there anyway to specify the capabilities of my keyboard to evdev?
Found the problem. After looking through the code for usbhid I realized that it was what was assigning the available event codes discovered by evtest. To do this, it reads through the HID descriptor. As it turned out I had used a generic HID descriptor and the Logical Maximum and Usage Maximum were cutting off the higher numbered HID codes. I used https://github.com/DIGImend/hidrd to get an editable version of my binary descriptor and then changed the Usage Maximum and Logical Maximum to the highest HID code I use. Reconverted it to binary format, uploaded and started the keyboard. Now evtest recognizes all keys.
Here is my original spec:

How to set the NSManagedObjectContext for MR_findFirst?

I use MagicalRecord for my CoreData store. I have a statement that is generating multiple crashes by different users when this statement is executed:
PreferenceData *prefDataFound = [PreferenceData MR_findFirst];
The error is:
+entityForName: nil is not a legal NSManagedObjectContext parameter searching for entity name 'PreferenceData'
coming from this sequence of calls (from Crashlytics):
1 libobjc.A.dylib objc_exception_throw + 30
2 CoreData +[NSEntityDescription entityForName:inManagedObjectContext:] + 104
3 SalonBook NSManagedObject+MagicalRecord.m line 91
+[NSManagedObject(MagicalRecord) MR_entityDescriptionInContext:]
4 SalonBook NSManagedObject+MagicalRequests.m line 19
+[NSManagedObject(MagicalRequests) MR_createFetchRequestInContext:]
5 SalonBook NSManagedObject+MagicalFinders.m line 79
+[NSManagedObject(MagicalFinders) MR_findFirstInContext:]
6 SalonBook NSManagedObject+MagicalFinders.m line 86
+[NSManagedObject(MagicalFinders) MR_findFirst]
7 SalonBook SubViewGrid.m line 37
-[SubViewGrid drawRect:]
All of this indicates to me that there is no valid context for the MR_findFirst call; oher than using *MR_findFirstWithPredicate:* (for which I have no predicate, I just want the first and only record), what can I do to fix this?
You can call
PreferenceData *prefDataFound = [PreferenceData MR_findFirstInContext:context];
with your current context, instead of relying on Magical Record to determine the
current context magically.
