Installshield Targetdir - installshield

I'am trying to make a small installer. Basic MSI.
The installdir should be \ProgramFiles\some & some\
But when I execute the installer, the "&" can't be seen. But it seems to choose the right folder. It is installed ok, to the right folder. How can I make the "&" visible in the path?

Interesting, I've never come across this problem before. The short answer is this is a side effect of using a Text control on the Custom Setup Dialog. If you press the browse button you'll see it is correct it's just getting formatted wierd. The work around would be to replace the text control with an edit control. Just be sure to give it the same subscription of SelectionPath : Text so that it displays data. Consider also setting enabled to false and sunken to false. Also be sure to not mess up the tab order.
BTW, I'd reccomend against installing to '&' anyways. It's a special character in DOS and makes navigating to the directory from a command line a pain.

Notepad++ copy / paste no longer works

I can't find an answer to this anywhere on the web.
In Notepad++ the copy/paste functions do not work NOW! They did before (until now).
The keyboard shortcuts do not work, but here is part of the issue.
On the menu at the top the cut and paste items are grayed out (so do not function there either).
At the shortcut mapper there are no entries for cut and paste (supposed to be at the top but are not anywhere).
These functions work OK in Windows so it is not a Microsoft problem but a Notepad++ problem exclusively.
Tried the following:
Closed all files and the program.
Restarted the program and tried again.
Downloaded the latest version and installed it. Tried again.
Help
Not sure what the real problem is, so bare with me,
First I'd check your bindings are set.
Open Notepad++,
Select "Macro" drop down menu, and click "Modify Shortcut/Delete Macro..."
Navigate to the "Scintilla commands" tab,
Here you can use the filter at the bottom of the window to find specifics,
e.g, "Copy" or "paste" and set your key-bindings.
My Copy is "Ctrl+C or Ctrl+INS" and Paste is "Ctrl+V or Shift+INS" by default.
It's not uncommon for third-party applications/processes to block certain features, also check the directory you installed it to, as sometimes permissions may block features, too.
Hope this helps.
I don't know why this ticket is still open but this was first on my Google list.
My issue was that I had "Set Read-Only" enabled on the "Edit" menu.

Sublime Text "Unable to save"

I didnt change any file paths and everything was working fine. I made one quick change saved it ok, did another change and I went to save it and got the following error. How can I solve this. It will save other files ok
Unable to save
D:\xampp\htdocs\websites\dev.liverpool\style\main.scss
Error:
MoveFileEx(D:\xampp\htdocs\websites\dev.liverpool\style\.sublae1.tmp, D:\xampp\htdocs\websites\dev.liverpoolzstylezmain.scss) failed,
Access is denied.
seems it's because Windows or another program is blocking the file. Sublime text uses a temporal file instead of editing the file directly, and when you save the file uses a API command to move this edited file to the original, so this command has restrictions when one file is locked and Sublime shows this alert.
Maybe this setting {"atomic_save": false} will work for you.
Go to the path where you installed sublime text 2 and...
Right click on the sublime_text 2.exe file.
Go to its properties.
Go to compatibility section under this.
Set its privilege level to "Run this program as an administrator".
Now change settings for all users and there also check the field "Run this program as an administrator".
Apply the changes.
I just solved the same issue on Sublime Text 3 beta, Stable Channel Build 3065 by doing the following under Windows 7:
Navigate to the Sublime Text 3 executable file, wherever you have it installed.
Right-click it and select properties.
Click on the tab marked "Security"
About half way down the tab, on the right hand side, under the list of group and user names is this little button:
Click it.
If your machine is setup the way I suspect it is (otherwise you probably would not be having this issue), you should be prompted for your administrator account credentials. Enter them.
Now, select the Users group in the list, then take a look in the box at the bottom labeled 'Permissions for Users'. Put a check mark in the 'Allow' column for the 'Write' item.
Click 'Apply'
Click 'OK'
You should be set. What this does is it essentially gives Sublime the ability to write files while running with regular user privileges, no administrator level access required. Upon taking a better look at your error, what is happening is Sublime Text is creating a temp file for editing, rather than editing to file itself, then attempting to overwrite the original file with the temp on save. The problem is that the program is not being run by a user with sufficient privileges to perform the overwrite, hence the failure with an 'Access denied' message.
A simple and effective solution: Right-click on the file you want to save, in my case it is index.html, go to the properties and uncheck read-only.
The Sublime text will start working fine.
I have come across this error quite many times and by un-checking read-only file attribute of index.html, I am able to get rid of it
I found out more ways to fix this:
Close and reopen the Sublime Text windows or
Open the file with Np++, add a space, save, quit, then you're prompted by ST to reload the file, click yes, and it works again... or
Open the FTP console to see if there's a transaction in progress - then cancel it
In my case the SFTP plugin seems to be causing this problem, as when the FTP connection is timed out, the file which is waiting to be uploaded is being used, and you try to overwrite it.
This happens because you're using ScoutApp or Compass, they block your SCSS files because they are checking for changes as you specified for a directory for those files.
I suggest you reading this:
http://aspirecode.com/how-to-add-sass-support-in-sublime-text/
Good luck!
On mac using a remote volume sometimes I experience this. The solution is to remove the temp file then save again and all fixed.
IE: if you are working on test.html then the temp file would be ._test.html
Remove ._test.html then save again.
For Mac-
Try changing the destination from 'Macintosh HD' to 'Documents' or any other folder.
Worked for me.
The plugin of Superlime solved this problem. It tries to save the file as root in SublimeText.
Reference Link: https://github.com/azubr/Superlime
Try switching your SublimeText process priority to higher level in process manager (it has to have higher priority than your scss compiling app, if you're using one).
It seems to have worked for me.
if it's not working after doing all suggestions, reinstall the program
On Mac I saved the file in Home directory and it gave me this alert, later when I re saved the file again this time in Document directory the file is working now. Using SublimeText 3.
I found this occurred when the folders are read-only. Right-click on the folders where your site is contained and see if read-only is selected in the properties.
Just open it as an administrator.
Because I want to edit anything and write as admin all the time, I set this program to always open as an administrator using "Configure Applications to Always Run as an Administrator".
Just got your file folder properties which you want to save and deselect to read only attribute.

Where does notepad++ store style configurator settings?

I downloaded and modified a style file and placed it in the Notepad++ themes folder. I was able to select it and have it update the style as expected. I then went to Settings -> Style Configurator and changed the font of COMMENT of language VHDL to MS Gothic, hit save, and closed and exited Notepad++. I am able to relaunch Notepad++ and still see the change (I'm running Notepad++ in admin mode on Win7).
The only file that I can see a new timestamp on is my XML theme file, but I don't see MS Gothic anywhere in the file. Where is this information being stored? It is overriding the settings from my theme file. I also checked %APPDATA%\Notepad++\stylers.xml but I don't see it there either.
I realize I can change it back through the GUI, but I'd like to know how to get back to my original theme without selecting every style in the language manually (as I've made multiple changes). If I could edit (or delete) a file, I would prefer it.
Look in your %APPDATA%\Notepad++ folder, specifically for the stylers.xml file.
Uninstall Notepad++
Reinstall it again, but this time check the first box, the one that says "Don't use %APPDATA%..... "
Enjoy.
The reason is that Notepad++ install all the files at administrator profile, if you are using another user then you are screw, it will not work properly, you have to run it always as an administrator so it can work properly. To avoid this, just do as i said.
If files are going to APPDATA, then you can create a folder called "themes" and then inside that place your new xml themes. Then close and reopen notepad++ and you should see your new style in the "Select theme:" drop down. Whatever you named the file should be what appears in the dropdown
If you are on Windows 10 the path to add the new theme is :
C:\Users\NAME-OF-COMPUTER\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\themes
stylers.xml is located one director/ folder above the themes :
Just as a complement to the other answers, if you made the changes on another theme than the default theme (stylers.xml) then your changes are saved to
%APPDATA%\Notepad++\themes\TheThemeYouModified.xml.
For example, if you modified the choco theme, then look for the %APPDATA%\Notepad++\themes\choco.xml.
You will also find a choco.xml in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\themes but this one is not where your changes are saved.
I tried Rbastardo answer, but even when I check "Don't use %APPDATA%....." when installing Notepad++, the changes are still saved in %APPDATA%.
In case this helps someone in the future, if you installed Notepad++ via Scoop then look for your themes directory here:
D:\Users\yourusername\scoop\persist\notepadplusplus\themes

Notepad++ tab color

Is there a way to change the color of a tab (in the tab bar) according to the path of the file?
I tried with the PythonScript plugin, but couldn't find a method to change the color of a tab.
I need this because I edit scripts from two environments at the same time, from a LIVE environment, and from a development environment, and I need to be extra careful when editing a LIVE file.
I was looking for a programmatic way to change the color of the tabs, and reviewed the online documentation of Notepad++ but did not find anything about it. So, instead, I propose the following method for your case, it could be helpful to always know which of your files are from the development environment and which from the live environment:
Open a blank instance of Notepad++:
Now start a macro recording: Press Start Recording button on Notepad++ toolbar:
Open a new document
Now you'll have two open blank tabs.
Right click newly open tab and click in option Move to other view from contextual menu
You'll have a window splitted vertically and your two tabs will be displayed next to each other. You'll use these two tabs as separated "containers" for your files
Press Stop Recording button:
Save your just recorded macro:
assign a keyboard shortcut:
Now you can run that recorded macro (from Macro menu, or invoking keyboard shortcut you assigned), every time you want to work on your two environments.
(Optional) Right click vertical separator between "containers" and click Rotate to right
Now your "containers" will be split horizontally and will be displayed one above the other. Personally, I'd recommend you this layout.
Click on the tab at first "container" and from there, open all your "dev" environment files; and analogously open all your "live" environment files from second "container". Note that currently selected container has a more intensely coloured active tab.
If you notice that your working space is small, drag the separator to increase your current "container" size, but I recommend you not to take it completely towards the end, because it will make difficult to differentiate which of the two "containers" you are working on.
Note: If you, mistakenly opened a file of an environment from the wrong "container" you'll always be able to fix that by dragging the tab and dropping it to the other "container":
So you'll always keep control of what files must be on each container.
That's it. I hope this info will be helpful for you.
About changing the color of the tab (not folder specific).
Notepad++ has a file called stylers.xml, located in the roaming folder or in the program folder. It also depends in the installation & windows version. If it does not exists then it is self generated.
At the very end of the file, it says
<WidgetStyle name="Inactive tabs" styleID="0" fgColor="xxxxx" bgColor="xxxxxx" />
And here it is possible to change the color of the inactive tab.
However, it does not work, it is a bug that has been "fixed" countless of times in the past. To the date, the current version 6.2.3 UNICODE, changing the values does nothing.
So far, editing the stylers.xml:
6.2.3 = does nothing
design guideline, gray + gray = not good.
6.2.0 = does nothing
6.1.8 = works.
Nice contrast
6.1 = works.
5.9.8 = works.
5.7 = edit works.
ps: sadly,it is not possible to change the fonts of the tabs.
Wanted to add this as a comment, the button's not there.
You can solve your actual problem by using multiple instances of notepad++, refer this. You can save different sessions and optionally use the "Open File In Solution (OFIS)" plug-in.
I've if you've picked a different Style like 'Black Board', then you will have to change these setting in it's .XML in '/themes', and these setting are found at the bottom of the file.

Can't Copy & Paste in Eclipse 3.5

I recently updated my Eclipse to the latest release 3.5 and since then I have a very annoying problem with c&p using the shortcuts.
In an editor (xml, jsp, doesn't matter which one) I try to copy something and paste it somewhere else, nothing happens. When I cut out something and put it somewhere else I sometimes get something else (like a messed up part of my previous selection) or just some whitespaces. This gets even worse when I change lines in between.
First I thought that my keyboard is probably broken but it works just fine in other programs. Then I tried using the context menus' c&p and there it works. Yesterday I managed to get at least an error message when I tried to copy a file in the navigator from one project to another (the message was just "error using copy...bla". no details).
Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to solve it?
I am running on Kubuntu 9.04, and have quite some plugins installed (but only from the Galileo Updates Site), like Birt, Mylin, WST, or Subversive.
For my problem, I had to go to Window > Preferences > Java > Editor > Typing, and uncheck "Update imports"
This must be related to the key mapping, since those shortcuts are defined according to context.
(Column "When", in Preferences / General / Keys)
Check if those shortcuts do not work for any editor (do they work for Java editor?)
If they work for some editor, not for other, then some plugin settings must have re-affected them to another command.
This is caused by various X clipboard managers doing weird things with the clipboard. (bug report).
In XFCE the clipman applet was rolled in XFCE 4.8, and will be the source of these problems.
To fix this in XFCE - kill xfce4-settings-helper. You will need to use Settings Manager -> Session and Startup -> Session to kill it, as otherwise it may restart automatically.
To prevent this starting next time, you will need to remove it from your startup/login programs in Settings Manager > Session and Startup > Application Autostart.
Problem was solved with newer Eclipse releases. I think >= 3.6. Depending on your distribution there may be a (back)port of this (not on my Xubuntu 11.04) within the repositories.
So a tarball installation of Eclipse 4.0 works perfectly for me. Cut&Paste works and I am lucky that my plugins are compatible to 4.0.
Unfortunately Sublime Text has the same problems.
I read somewhere that in KDE maybe Klipper / "Klipper on the panel" conflicts with eclipse copy action.
It's a tool for clipboard history. Try to remove that! It may solve your problem :-/
For me the xfce4-settings-helper killing worked.
Workaround:
You can cut&paste from the compare view. So simply compare the un-copyable file (e.g., local history) with a different version and Control-C what you need there.
In the *.java editor page, right click and select open in text editor. Past your snippet there. Your Snippet will show in the *.java page'
I use Eclipse Kepler for PHP development. It's dumb I know.
None of the solutions suggested here has solved this source of frustration.
I can confirm the copy function works whether shortcut keys are bound or not. As I can copy from eclipse and paste into any other application. Except eclipse.
My solution. Accidental discovery: Eclipse Kepler will allow you to paste outside the php open and close tags and allow you to click and drag the highlighted block of content into into position.
Acceptable solution for small bits of code. Horribly crippling for larger development environments.
For Xming, this resolved the problem for me. In XLaunch uncheck Clipboard (clipboard manager) in the "Specify parameter settings" GUI form.
