Someone knows some way of putting only 16 colors in the CColorDialog of Visual Studio c++ when it is opened?
I don't think that's possible with the standard MFC CColorDialog.
But if you really only need 16 colors, wouldn't it make more sense to use something more simple like a combo box to pick a color, in stead of a full dialog?

In Android Studio, we have color picker when developing in Java/Kotlin (natively) like this.
But while developing for Flutter, I can't see any options to pick my own color. Is there some plugin required to do that?
The color picker is not clickable in Android Studio running Flutter( Dart code), see picture below. But i found a work around using the Color class and manually opening color picker. Then pick a color and copy/paste it like this:
Here is how i do it:
1. Double tap shift to run search
2. Type Color or Picker
3. Open Color Picker from the search list
4. Copy/paste the HEX color code into your color class.
Expert tip:
Add color picker to a keyboard shortcut. You can find the settings for Keymap, under File > Settings > Keymap
You must have heard of the materials.io website from google, which provides many materials like designs, icons, tools, resources and components for easy developing. Now Color Tool is also available. You must add the website to your browsers shortcut if you are a developer. Another way I found is :
Type 'Colors.' and press control+space to see the available colors.
Select the color using arrow or mouse.
Press control+Q for the quick documentation.
And on the documentation windows, click on the edit button which opens the
'colors.dart' file.
Here all the colors with all shades are available. These shortcuts are for windows.
Once you open the file, you can always come back here to chose the next shade. But will not be the comfortable method like android project.
Hope a easier way to do this will come with the later update.
I change the Selected Text color which only allows you to change the background color but when I select some text, I notice the color is definitely not uniform all across. The selected text's background color looks different for a keyword vs an identifier.

It seems that Visual Studio 2012 doesn't like non-default fonts. Probably a bug in VS2012. Press the use Default fonts to solve the problem, so far that's the only solution I know.

yes i want to learn this c++ or mfc . I find it more powerfull . Could u explain to me exactly how to add it to my project. I also want the color iteslf and it code appers in picture box and textbox.

Use CColorDialog class in mfc is used to pick the color from mfc
// Get the selected color from the CColorDialog.
CColorDialog dlg;

}
This sample will popup dialog to select the color and after selecting the color and click ok button then color variable will contain the selected color.
Use this color in your application.

You can customize your combo box or list box to add the color pick tool.

CMFCColorDialog is what you seem to be looking for. To make it act like a drop-down, you'll need to position it below the down-arrow button (e.g., using MoveWindow).
Since you don't seem to have the MFC Feature Pack, check the Ultimate Toolbox at http://www.codeproject.com/KB/MFC/UltimateToolbox.aspx. Its Graphical User Interface classes have a Color Picker.
For Visual Studio versions prior 2008, you can use BCGSoft's color pikcer (http://www.bcgsoft.com). MFC color dialog is based on this one.
I had a similar problem with CMFCColorButton. I added the graphic resource with the ToolBox on my dialog design, but I could't assign a control variable because it did not recognize CMFCColorButton.
The answer was to include afxcolorbutton.h in the header of stdafx.h. Maybe you can fix it in the same way.

I don't think there is a way to change it. The line number bar is a hardcoded object and none of the CSS files or XML files affect it.
Actually, there is a way to change it.
By affecting the basic operation system's settings for the active line highlight color it's possible to achieve this effect.
It probably works on all windows platforms:
for this demonstration I ll explain how to do it on win7.
1. right click on the screen
2. choose personalize
3. window color / advanced appearance settings
4. choose 'selected items' from the drop-down menu
5. modify 'color1' to the color u wish to use in DW.
and its all done. DW inherits the operating system's default/modified color settings.

I'm updating some of our legacy C++ code to use the "MFC feature pack" that Microsoft released for Visual Studio 2008. We've used the new classes to derive our application from CFrameWndEx, and are applying the Office 2007 styles to give our application a more modern appearance. This gives us gradient filled window titles, status bars etc, and the use of the ribbon toolbars.
However, our application contains some owner drawn controls, and I'd like to update these to match the color scheme used by the feature pack. Ideally I'd like to know the light and shaded toolbar colors that are currently in use.
I've had a hunt around the documentation and web and have not yet found anything. Does anyone know how to find this information out?

In particular we need to find out which colors are being used at runtime. You can change the appearance of your application at runtime using the new static function CMFCVisualManager::SetDefaultManager.

Annoyingly the msdn help is "under construction" so doesn't even tell you what they are supposed to be doing!
afxGlobalData contains some useful information on the current colours, brushes and fonts being used by the MFC Feature Pack. In particular I use afxGlobalData.m_clrBarFace when painting my own control bar backgrounds.

This is essentially what I'm doing at the moment, and I've defined a list of constants from which I pull out the colours. Doesn't seem very elegant though!

#GateKiller, the OP isn't developing an Office 2007 add-in, so the UI guidelines won't really help. It's an MFC application using the Visual C++ 2008 Feature Pack which allows MFC apps to take on the Office 2007 look and feel.

CMFCVisualManagerOffice2007::GetTabFrameColors - the clrFace output param is grey?
Perhaps they're all masks on top of a single base hue for each theme? Assuming you can determine which color scheme is in effect with CMFCVisualManagerOffice2007::GetStyle(), perhaps you can figure out what that hue is and then do some masking with the GetxxxColor() methods.
