php .htaccess rewrite with new cpanel account - .htaccess

I have the following in my .htaccess file, which I do often for cleaner URL's. There are pro's and cons to this I know and I think I've found a con.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php
Options All -Indexes
I've up a new cPanel account for this website so the URL looks like this:
http://www.example.com/~newuser/
...where example.com is my reseller account and newuser is my client.
The site loads fine but when I click a link http://www.example.com/~newuser/about I get the following error:
The requested URL
/home/newuser/public_html/about.php
was not found on this server.
The problem is, that's exactly the file I want it to display and that is the document root. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Before your RewriteCond lines, add a RewriteBase line like so:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /~newuser/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php
Options All -Indexes

How to re-direct blog article URLs?

I am trying to redirect a bunch of old blog article URLs using the .htaccess file:
RedirectMatch ^/index\.php/global/article/(.*)$ http://www.mywebsite.com/blog/article/$1
This doesn't really work, however, because my CMS seems to get confused by the index.php bit and keeps adding ?symphony-page= to all the URLs.
It's probably this part that is responsible:
### FRONTEND REWRITE - Will ignore files and folders
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*\/?)$ index.php?symphony-page=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
Can anybody help?
Please try the following (comments included to explain):
RewriteEngine On
# First, redirect the old URIs to the new ones via a 301 redirect.
# This will allow the CMS to take over using the rules that follow.
RewriteRule ^index.php/global/article/(.+)$ /blog/article/$1 [L,R=301]
# Frontend Rewrites - for the CMS
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*\/?)$ index.php?symphony-page=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
Try this:
#-- Input URL >> http://www.mywebsite.com/index.php/global/article/abc
### FRONTEND REWRITE - Will ignore files and folders
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*\/?)$ index.php?symphony-page=$1&%{QUERY_STRING}
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/index\.php/global/article/(.*)$
RewriteRule ^.*$ blog/article/%1 [R=301, L]
#--Output URL >> http://www.mywebsite.com/blog/article/abc
I've tested the above with this htaccess.madewithlove and it seems like it will work just fine, hopefully it will work for you too

Rewriting url's with .htaccess

I am trying to rewrite page URL's with .htaccess.
I would like to transform links like this (mysite.com/page.php -> mysite.com/page)
This is the code which I've used in previous sites with the same requirements
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond /%{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-\s]+)/$ /$1.php
But when I try to access mysite.com/page it leeds to a 404 page where as mysite.com/page.php will show the page.
Can anyone explain if I have missed a setting somewhere? I have placed the .htaccess file in the site root dir and the permissions are set as 644.
Instead of using %{REQUEST_FILENAME} which by the way you have an unneeded / there, I suggest you to use %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/$1\.php, here is an example:
Options +FollowSymLinks -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
## To internally redirect /anything to /anything.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/$1\.php -f
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)$ $1.php [L]
Additionally on your rule you have /$ which would again cause you trouble as you want to catch /page.
You could have made it /? to make the / optional.
Your .htaccess fixed should look like this:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_-\s]+)/?$ /$1.php [NC,L]

Htaccess /imagename/delete

Okay so i'm working on creating a thing to delete images from my server. I figured out about the unlink function and have turned it into a get variable. How can I use htaccess to delete a file from my server with a url like this example.com/imagename/delete
RewriteRule ^/delete/([^/]+)$ index.php?delete=$1
I realized that this does /delete/imagename but I want the urls to be /imagename/delete. I tried the following but that didn't work.
RewriteRule ^/([^/]+)$/delete index.php?delete=$1
I know this sounds simple and easy to find on the web but I can't seem to find this!
Change your rules to
Options +FollowSymLinks -MultiViews
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/delete/?$ index.php?delete=$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/)*[^.]+)$ /$1.png [L]

Limit RewriteRule in htaccess file

i got a site php based with some rules in the .htaccess file to get rid of file extentions in the url adress bar. Basically it takes http://netbureau.com.br/en/about.php/ and turns it into http://netbureau.com.br/en/about.
Here are the lines in the htaccess file:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php
The problem comes when i try to access the rss feed of the blog at http://netbureau.com.br/blog/?feed=rss2 and when i try to set custom permalinks for the blog at http://netbureau.com.br/blog. It gets messed up by the htaccess file.
So is there any way to disallow the RewriteRule for the /blog folder so that i can get back my rss link and set custom permalinks in the blog?
I know it's at the same time Wordpress related but it feels more connected to the htaccess file than Wp.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT #1:
I've set up the wordpress permalinks to the default structure which goes like this: http://netbureau.com.br/blog/?p=123 This made my rss link back for good.
The remaining problem is that Wordpress gives me its own rewriterule which is:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /blog/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L]
Is there a way to to still use the first rule to apply to the whole site except the /blo/ folder and apply the WP rule only to the /blog/ folder?
I've tried different combinations but without luck so far. I could only have the site without the custom links for the blog or the custom blog links and a 404 on the pages of the site.
Try:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/blog/?
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php
The !^/blog/? expression excludes any URI that starts with /blog

.htaccess rewrite with REST style URL 500 error

I'm trying to implement a REST-style URL with a mod-rewrite turned on in .htaccess. There's a bit of a kicker which is that I'm developing in a test environment (new cpanel account). Here's the .htaccess:
RewriteEngine on
#REMOVE THIS LINE ON SITE LAUNCH!
RewriteBase /~myNewAccount/
#Hide .php extensions for cleaner URLS
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php
Options All -Indexes
The URL I CAN use looks like this:
www.example.com/~myNewAccount/index.php/id/50
I can access the PATH_INFO here, but when I try to do this:
www.example.com/~myNewAccount/index/id/50
...I get a 500 internal server error. I've tried implementing the solution found here by Gumbo but that mucks things up.
Ideas on what might be causing this?
Try this rule:
RewriteRule ^index(/.*)?$ index.php$1 [L]
Or if you don’t want index to be in the URL path at all:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule .* index.php/$0 [L]
