You can use a custom skin or modify the default skin that comes with the DNN installation. The default skin files are in [Website]\Portals_default\Skins\MinimalExtropy\ where [Website] is your DNN web site folder. If you are new to skinning and have a lot of questions, I am sure that the DNN forums will be helpful - DNN Skinning forums
You can do that by editing the CSS. I had similar issue, for which I used " inspect element" in google chrome that helped me in recognizing div elements and css properties. You can find css in portals_default\Skins\DarkKnight (or your own skin name) \skin.css
If your wanting to do anything outside of the CSS (ie, turn off the search bar on a page); then you have to have full access to the site -- open the site via FTP or download all the files, then you can modify the 'default' page, or the skin file you want to change. my suggestion is to make a 'copy' of the skin default page you want to change, give it a new name, and then save it back to the server. When you go to change the 'skin' theme from the 'site manager' you will see your new skin page listed as an option. Modifying from the CMS does not allow you to modify the actual 'page', only its 'parts'. There is also a starter kit available for Visual Studio, google "DNN Starter Kit" which you can create custom modules, skins and containers.

I have a problem when developing a new Liferay 7.2 theme based on gradle as a build tool, the problem is when I added a custom css in the file _custom.scss in order to customize some styles within my theme, the default liferay admin Control panel and Menu( in the left hand side and in the top ) are looking very bad and my theme looks not Responsive(I mean the style and there are buttons which are not displayed anymore example the toast-animation-btn is not visible ).
From my perspective, maybe my custom css ( because I have a large css file it is kind of Migration from 6.2 --> 7.2) is impacting the default liferay portal things --> this is just my opinion and maybe I could be wrong...
Otherwise, if my reasoning is true please How could prevent my styles to impact liferay default menu?
A whole lot of things have changed between 6.2 and 7.x html markup. I would strongly advise testing each small css feature independently and rewrite the one that is not compatible anymore. By feature I mean all css code related to a specific portlet or section of your template.
Also the theme template themselves have changed a lot and are not strictly compatible. In this case I'd suggest starting with a new theme templates and bring back one by one the customization, you made in it. Also look at the new content page feature: https://portal.liferay.dev/docs/7-2/user/-/knowledge_base/u/creating-content-pages You might be able to replace many theme customization with them in a more maintainable and web admin-friendly way.
That being said if you just want to isolate you sass code from impacting the admin menu, in the default template there is no quick way to identify the content section of the page (well, there is #wrapper and #content, but they are too generic and present in the admin page as well) I'd suggest that you add an id at the right level of your own template. After that just embed all your sass code inside that id.
Is there a way to insert/add logo before the top navigation in SharePoint ? Currently we have Home link and we want to replace it using a logo instead.

Assume you are talking about SharePoint online development. I suggest using command set in SharePoint Framework.
The Command Set is the only type of SharePoint Framework Extension for which you can configure icons.
When deploying Command Sets, you can choose whether their commands should be visible on:
The command bar (location: ClientSideExtension.ListViewCommandSet.CommandBar)
The context menu (location: ClientSideExtension.ListViewCommandSet.ContextMenu)
Both (location: ClientSideExtension.ListViewCommandSet)
You can use an external icon image or a base64-encoded image as your icon image.

Also, there is a third party option. it will be less work just to change a icon but also limited choice of icons which they've provided.
ShortPoint can customize SharePoint Global Navigation and allows you to utilize ShortPoint Icons in your navigation.
The result will be something like this. Reference here.
So depend on your need, SPFx will give you more freedom and Shortpoint will take less work.

I am using eclipse ide and I have created a liferay project Test-portlet. I haven't written any code for this project
When I ran this project I got the usual welcome screen and I added the Test-portlet to the page and removed other stuff from the page.
I actually want to create a website using liferay. The website already exists which should be rewritten in liferay.
So when I load the project I get this welcome screen and the Test-portlet. At the top of this page I get the the menu-Admin,Sites,.... and LIferay logo on LHS.
I wish to remove all of these and displa only the web page data of the website. I know I can use themes and layouts for such purpose.
If I should use portlet to create this website , how should I keep adding pages and designs?
Also how should I add pages,themes,templates to this portlet?
Before creating this Test-portlet project, I had created pages using control panel.
How should I create this website? Using portlet by creating project?

Also this Test-portlet is displayed as a small portlet on the entire page. WHen click on the gear symbol and click on maximise, it only maximises during that time and when project is run again, it comes back to its original size.
Should I create this websiste using portlets?
Data for website comes from database. Few pages have static data.
Subsequent pages may be added in future.

I am working with Kentico in Visual Studios (web project) on my local computer. When I add folders or files to the solution and then run it in the browser, the pages do not show up in the CMS desk or site manager. Am I creating these folders/files in the wrong place in the solution (ex: {directory of web project}/CMSPages/filename.aspx)? Or maybe have incorrect settings?
This is not the way how it works - the system has no idea about your pages if you place them on the file system. However, you can create ASPX page templates and then use then for the documents. Please see the Devnet forum

In the visitor sites or CMS Page
If you want to use visitor site you can create a webpart and add you webpart to the Page create on content tree.
If you want to use in the cmsdesk the you need to register your page in the module
I've downloaded Drupal 6 and installed it on my local server, and ported a basic web site as a custom theme. I've set this as the default theme and everything works okay; the page appears nice with all the images and layout.
The problem is that now, no matter what I type as the URL I always get to my page. So how can I go to the admin page? /q=user does not work. I can change the theme from the database but that is not what I want. I just want to keep this theme and be able to access all the Drupal functionality.
For the custom page i've created the page.tpl.php and .info file. Along with the CSS file I've put them all in a new folder in the themes directory.
#abhaga's answer is spot on - you've turned the entire site's theme into a single page's HTML, so they're all going to be the same.
If you'd like to avoid glitching the admin side of things with a bad template file, you can set one of the core themes as your "administration theme" (in Site Configuration) - that way, the admin backend will always use that theme regardless of the other templates.
Ah! Basically page.tpl.php specifies the over all structure of site. Look at the original page.tpl.php file - it will be printing a variable called $content somewhere. That is the variable holding all the content of your specific page. You will need to print it at appropriate place in your pge.tpl.php
