Pycharm does not active existing virtual environment - linux

Pycharm does not activate existing virtual environments. When I select it in the list of possible venvs and click OK it just does some loading and does not close the window. The venv is not activated.
The only way to get a proper venv working is to start a new project have Pycharm create it when starting the project. Otherwise it does not work.
I have upgraded Pycharm many times suspect that older versions are messing something up.

Tldr:
Delete Pycharm's config directory found in ~/.config/JetBrains
For other OS the locations are here
Wanted to answer my own question since this has been bugging me for weeks on end.
I tried deleting Pycharm's cache directory, it did not the fix the problem.
But after I deleted the entire config directory it fixed the problem. I am pretty sure some of the icons in the new project wizard also changed, point to dross from old versions of Pycharm messing things up for me.

pygame running very slowly 12fps - Upgraded laptop

I'm relatively new to using python have used pygame as a place to better understand how everything comes together.
I recently upgraded my laptop form a 2012 Macbook to the 2019.
Just wondering why the games I made on my 2012 are running soo much slower on my 2019 macbook. Managing packages with conda.
I don't know much but I suspect it may have to do with either
The comp resolution upgrade (which I'm doubtful)
method of installation of pygame
Initially, I Downloaded python3 with homebrew and then installed pygame (pygame would show a blank screen)
I then installed conda and managed packages through it.
I doubt it has to do with the way I have written it, I'm sure it's quite inefficient but I was achieving fps's of 60 for the same code.
If someone could guide me to where to find out more information It would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
This seems to be a problem with how MacOS run Pygame. While your game is running, right-click it's icon in the Dock and select Show in Finder. Then in the Folder that shows up, you will see the Python Interpreter executable. Right-click it and click Get Info, and under General check the Open in Low Resolution.
Now your game should run fine. And no, Pygame's resolution will not be "Low".
I resolved this issue by launching pygame in fullscreen. More of a workaround but a solution nonetheless.
Also if you do choose to do this be sure to create a key to exit the screen otherwise you'll need to restart your computer.

Location menu in extended controls of Android Studio virtual device

I need to import a .gpx file to my virtual device (something I'm attempting for the first time today), but I'm having a problem I can't find any reference to anywhere else. I'm either having a moment and missing something that should be obvious or there's an issue with the specific build I have that's causing an issue. I have Android Studio 3.5.3 installed and I've tried multiple different virtual devices.
All references to the menu page referenced in my title that I can find online look like this:
While my version of that page looks like this:
That "Import GPX/KML" button always appears to be greyed out. What am I missing here?
Eventually found the cause of this and a solution. The issue was caused by an Android emulator release that updated the Location settings to include a Google Maps based UI. Release notes here, though I've found the 29.2.11 release on 03/12 also contained the UI change: https://androidstudio.googleblog.com/2019/12/emulator-29212-stable-google-maps-ui.html. On my Windows 10 computers this also removed the option of importing a GPX file (not sure if this was an intentional choice by Google or a bug). Not sure if it will affect Linux or Mac users but I've observed the issue on multiple Windows 10 devices.
The fix I found for the issue was to downgrade my emulator to 29.2.1. That version can be found here:
http://dl.google.com/android/repository/emulator-darwin-5889189.zip
http://dl.google.com/android/repository/emulator-windows-5889189.zip
http://dl.google.com/android/repository/emulator-linux-5889189.zip
In Windows, next go to C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\emulator. Those of a cautious disposition can backup this folder, but either way the package.xml file will be needed and everything else can be moved or deleted. Edit the details in the XML to match the version number of the downloaded emulator. Copy the downloaded files to this location along with the package.xml. Then just make sure not to download the update again when Android Studio is opened.

Eclipse - Can't set preferences

I've installed eclipse Mars.1 Release (4.5.1), and than i've installed spring plugin as i always do with a new linux installation (by the way i am running Manjaro Linux 15.09 fully updated with KDE) but this time i am facing a problem i have never seen before!
Everytime i go to the preferences window, the right pane won't update according to the selected option.
Ex: when i open the preferences window, if i try to drill down the "General" option, the right pane won't update, no matter what i choose in the left pane!
Can anyone help?
I had the same problem. The reason was because Eclipse didn't set up completely - there was some background tasks running (freezing actually).
Try to run Eclipse with another JRE version. I have this problem with 8u60, but everything is fine (as fine as it can be with Eclipse) when I use 8u45.
Off topic - I strongly recommend everyone to stop using Eclipse and go to Intellij IDEA. Your life will become much more happy.
UPD I faced that problem again with the new workspace, so maybe this isn't about JRE version. Try to wait a few minutes, reopen workspace again, this worked out for me.

WebStorm 11 freezes on Go To Declaration action for Typescript interfaces

I'm currently using WebStorm 11 on a very large NodeJS/Typescript project and when using the "Go To -> Declaration" shortcut, my WebStorm completely freezes and has to be killed and restarted manually.
Do any of you guys encounter similar behaviour?
If someone just came here looking for solution of WebStorm / PHPStorm freeze, I am giving my 2c.
Make sure you are using the latest release of the IDE. The current version number shows up during its startup. If using older one, download the latest, and install it.
Now, if the freezing problem persists with opening the project, find the .idea folder inside the concern project folder, and delete the .idea folder. It may stay hidden depending on your file-viewer's settings. Enable hidden-file view, if needed.
Caution: This will reset your project-specific IDE settings, however general, non-projectwise settings will remain intact.

.Net InstallShield - Creates broken shortcuts

I've got 2 projects in my solution.
The one is a small win forms project, and
the other, a InstallShield Limited Edition project.
Everything works fine & installs correctly for the most part. The desktop and start menu shortut's get created also with the correct icon... except that that the target & start in properties are blank... and thus the shortcuts are useless.
Normally target should have the reference to the executable, but it seems to be populated with my project name :/
I'm not too sure how I can go about debugging this? Or what would be causing the problem?
I started going going through the sub steps in the Installer project.
Under the 3rd node - Configure the Target System, there is a Shortcuts/Folders item.
Upon opening you'll see a tree view of where the shortcuts will be created. I selected the desktop shortcut, and noticed that the working directory was not set. I changed it to point to [INSTALLDIR]
This fixed the problem for me
