Excel , find duplicates between 2 columns and displays return value - excel

I have Column A (list of suppliers from 2018) and then Column B (Supplier $ spent), column C (List of all our suppliers in our database).
My objectives are:
To find the duplicates , show them that they are a match so as they get displayed in the same row and return value of Column B for a match in Column D
OR
To search for duplicates and returns column B as a return value in Column D.

You can use vlookup to lookup column C in the table (colA, colB) and return column B for the matches.
Something like -
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(C2,A$2:B$6,2,FALSE),"")
Replace A$2:B$6 with your table range.

Searching a column for a string in one array, and returning a value that corresponds to that array

I am going to do my best to describe this.
I want to search column C for any of the strings contained on a different sheet in column A, and if/when one of those strings is found, i want to return the column B that corresponds to the found string.
For example:
Sheet 1:
Column A
Column B
Column C
project 1
2/15/19
Status is Red, because....
Project 2
4/12/20
RAG- Green, PTG is....
And on another sheet I have common ways to describe their statuses in Column A, and in Column B, a simple letter R, A, G or NS (Not started) if no other common status is found.
Column A
Column B
Column C
Status is Red
R
Rag- Green
G
How can I Search Column C for a value on Column A (on a different sheet) and return column B in Column D on the original sheet?
Results should look like
Column A
Column B
Column C
Column D
project 1
2/15/19
Status is Red, because....
R
Project 2
4/12/20
RAG- Green, PTG is....
G
This may be a bit of an extended function and depends on how many rows you have in the second sheet.
You can hard code it with
=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("Red",C2)),VLOOKUP("Status is Red",Sheet2!$A$2:$B$3,2,FALSE),IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("Green",C2)),VLOOKUP("RAG - Green",Sheet2!$A$2:$B$3,2,FALSE),"NS"))
Or use the more dynamic:
=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH(Sheet2!$A$2,Sheet1!C2)),VLOOKUP(Sheet2!$A$2,Sheet2!A2:B3,2,FALSE),IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH(Sheet2!$A$3,Sheet1!C2)),VLOOKUP(Sheet2!$A$3,Sheet2!$A$2:$B$3,2,FALSE),"NS"))
Explanation
SEARCH(find_text,within_text) - returns the index of where the substring begins
ISNUMBER(value) - returns TRUE if a number, FALSE if not.
VLOOKUP(lookup_value,table_array,col_index_num,[range_lookup]) - finds the value within the array and returns the corresponding value in the specified column.
$X$Y - the dollar signs stop the values from changing when you use ctrl+d or ctrl+r to fill multiple cells
So to break it down:
IF (search returns an index)
THEN VLOOKUP (find this value and return the corresponding value from this column)
ELSE (repeat above as needed)
ELSE ("NS")

Is there a way to have column O pull values from column F is J through L match A through C

I have column A as city code, B as Origin City,St , C as city code, D as Destination city,St. I then similar date in I through L with Carriers that haul those lanes in N. If a row in the I through L match a row in A through D I need the value of F place in the O column in the corresponding row.
I am trying to paste an image of the Excel grid, but I need column O to pull the value from column F from the row that has the values from A to D that match the data in a row in I to L.
Expected Result in Grid
You can use a combination of index() with match()
So, to fill Column O, this should work:
=INDEX(F$40:F$60,MATCH(I40&K40,G$40:G$60,0))
I have assumed that you can add a helper column in G, which is =A40&C40 dragged down.
I have also assumed that the combination of the two numbers in cols A & C are unique when combined.
If that is not the case then you will need to add col B, so the helper column becomes =A4&B40&C40 and the match will be I40&J40&K40.
Tested this on 3 values, as you don't give data I can get to.

Excel Lookup and sum multiple values

A B C D D E F
DEForage201 DE Deutschland 201 Perennial Ryegrass Forage 789951
DEForage201 DE Germany 201 Perennial Ryegrass Forage 5617026
In the list above (starting in column A which is an ID line compiled by column B, F and D) I want to lookup and get the sum of the rightmost column.
Currently I am using vlookup and look for the ID line in column A, until I noticed that the country names in column C would differ during the list which is why I am having identical ID lines in column A and currently only get the first value.
Any ideas how to solve this?
Assuming you're looking for a way to view the sum of column F for each unique combination of columns A through E, a Pivot Table might be what you're looking for. You can select columns A through E as the "rows" for the pivot table, and sum of column F for the values. Adjust the report layout in the Pivot Table Design tab to get it to look the way you want.

Excel: Sum Up quantity values from column B if the names from Column A are duplicates and also if Column A is found in Column C

I have three columns: A = Name , B = Quantity and C= Name in different order , also some names from A are duplicates but the quantity from duplicates are different.
How can I get the sum of quantitys (B) if A=names and duplicate A is found in C???
Enter the formula `=SUMIF(A:A,C2,B:B)' in D2 and then copy down

Identify matching numbers and then imput a value from a different column

I have two sheets, Sheet1 and Sheet2. Sheet1 has a list of company names in column A, Revenue in column B and a unique number identifier in column D (also seen as "unique #forAAA in Sheet2). In Sheet2, I pulled a list from Hoovers, and the format comes up something like below (so this format should not be changed).
Column A B C D
Company Name Place Type of Comp Revenue
1 AAA US HQ 10.0 M
2 unique #forAAA
3 BBB India Branch 5.0 M
4 unique #forBBB
What I'd like to do is match the unique number for each company between Sheet1 and Sheet2 and then put the revenue # from Sheet2 into column B of Sheet1 which corresponds to the correct #. I'm pretty lost here, so any help or ideas would be great. Thanks for your help!
Because the unique identifier is on a different row than the result to be returned, you can use a variation using INDEX and MATCH:
=INDEX(Sheet2!D:D, MATCH(D2, Sheet2!A:A, 0)-1)
INDEX will return the value within range Sheet2!D:D on row MATCH(D2, Sheet2!A:A, 0)-1.
MATCH(D2, Sheet2!A:A, 0) will give you the row number where the unique ID is found, then -1 to get the row number of the revenue amount.
EDIT: As per comment, to remove the M, you can use this:
=TRIM(SUBSTITUTE(INDEX(Sheet2!D:D, MATCH(D2, Sheet2!A:A, 0)-1),"M",""))
I would put the unique value in a column inserted before A (would be the new column A) instead of putting it below each row. Then, in the other sheet I'd put the VLOOKUP like this:
=VLOOKUP(D2,Sheet2!A:E,5,0)
That should return the value in column E (column D before the column insertion, i.e. revenue for the unique company identifier).
Note that the third argument in the vlookup function is the number of the column you want to be retrieved, so the range defined in the second argument (Sheet2!A:E) should contain that column.
