I installed Ubuntu 16.04 yesterday and since then I have a problem with the mouse cursor.
It starts randomly disappearing and flickering a lot mostly when you try to close the window.
I have searched for a solution on Google and here but didn't find anything.

I had the same problem some time back when using ubuntu 14 version. You can fix it manually by going to Open System Settings > Displays. In the Displays window, you will see an Unknown monitor. Click it and disable it.
If you have 2 built in display in red and green color.. Disabling the green built in display will solve the issue.

Copyq is a linux program that let you save your "copy/paste"s for future use.
I removed copyq because I've just realized that my kubuntu 20.04 version has a prebuilt clipboard app that do the same job.
After removing copyq with the terminal:
sudo apt remove copyq
I keep getting a little distracting notification message at the bottom right of the screen, it pops up almost every 5 seconds. It says exactly the following:
! Command "copyq onClipboardUnchanged"
Error: execve: No such file or directory
copyq onCkipboard Changed
Does anyone have an idea on how to stop the notification from popping up.
Thank you in advance.

For the past few days in my kali linux machine, the home screen is appearing entirely blank. All the files that were save there is not showing and the floating dock is not appearing like before when i move my cursor to the left. I searched stackexchange and saw that I have to modify some settings in tweak. But I cannot change a thing is tweak. Here is how it appears.
and this is how the extension region of Tweak appears.
Please help, what to do. As I am having a lot of problems due to the dock missing from the side, and all the desktop icons removed. (though i can access them via files).
In the tweaks program, turn the following extensions on: Dash to dock, Desktop icons.
Dash to dock is the left sidebar.
Desktop icons extension shows the files on the desktop.

I have installed the latest ubuntu 20.04 and recently noticed a bug that whenever I close my lid the screen only goes blank instead of going into hibernate or suspend.
I noticed that there is no longer an option in gnome-settings as it was in ubuntu 18.04.
I have tried changing the values in /etc/systemd/logind.conf.
I tried changing values in gnome-tweaks.
How to resolve this?

After I installed windows 10 on my machine I am facing a big problem operating the computer.
Problem : It gets stuck every few seconds.e.g while typing a message I have to wait to notice when the cursor will start/stop blinking so I can start/stop typing. I am really getting frustrated. Any ideas how do I revertback to win7 or apply a patch for this bug.
Well same happened to me but after hiding Cortana "Ask me anything" box the trouble gone. To do this TaskBar==>right click==> Cortana==> hidden. Hope this will help you.

Ubuntu Trusty Tahr 14.04
I would like to replicate a feature from a program i used to use in windows. stardock fences allowed me to hide all of the icons (i wanted to) on my desktop by double clicking, and then reveal them by double clicking again.
I believe something along these lines:
gconftool-2 /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop --type bool --set false
from this page (ubuntu forums)
, is what I am looking to do. my question then becomes:
How do I invoke a shell script by double clicking on the EMPTY desktop?
Yes, I know I can use an icon instead. I want the desktop. I don't even have any icons I have to have on the desktop... Oh well. I would think it's possible and I would like to learn how. The feature itself is not the most important, but when I came to the question of HOW and had no answer - that's a problem ;)
