Windows 10 Universal Apps backwards compatibility - windows-10

Will Windows 10 Universal Apps be backwards compatible and be able to run on Windows XP/7/8/8.1 ???
I assume it shouldn't be too difficult for Microsoft to run it in a windowed player that supports universal app api's.

Currently they are not backwards compatible. And I wouldn't expect them to be - the goal is to move everyone from old Windows to the latest, Windows 10, so I assume that's where the focus will be.

Is there a Windows 10 equivalent tool that does the job of Apple Configurator mobile device management?

The Apple Configurator tool is a MacOS application that allows you to create and edit a device profile, which can be downloaded from a webserver and used to suitably configure devices in the Apple ecosystem.
Does an equivalent tool exist for the Microsoft ecosystem?
Most specifically, is there a Windows 10 compatible Windows application that generates a suitable device profile, that can be downloaded from a webserver and used to suitably configure devices in the Microsoft ecosystem?
There are quite many similar tools for Windows 10. Windows 10 has its own MDM solution and has distinct features. There is another good Mobile Device Management Solution for Windows 10 application i.e MobiLock Pro. It's more simplified and easy to use compared to other MDM for Windows 10.

Build WinObjC app on Linux

Currently I am using Ubuntu linux and I want to create a WinObjC app on Linux plateform. Is there any way to create WinObj apps on linux.
Sorry to disapoint you, but unfortunately there is not. WinObjC is intended to bring iOS apps to Windows 10. Basically it just enables you to write Windows 10 apps in Objective-C but you still need a Windows 10 machine to compile it.
A Windows 10 device and Visual Studio are mandatory at the moment, to create WinObjC apps.

Limitations of Windows 8 Desktop duplication using DXGI?

I am working on a remote desktop application which works fine on windows 7 and its previous version. but In windows 8 mirror driver has removed so that we have to develop the same remote desktop feature using DXGI. I have read the documentation but I want to know Is there any limitation of DXGI ?
If any one experience some limitation while creating desktop emulation
in windows 8 please share.

handheld with windows embedded 7

I'm a little new on Window Embedded Compact 7.0(WEC 7) so I have some question about it :
1- Is there any handheld device that runs with it? All I found run on 6.5 and lower win CE versions ( check this link please : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate/windows-embedded-handheld-devices.aspx)
2- what's its .Net framework version? .NET CF 3.5 or .NET CF 3.7 ? I don't know whether its technology related to windows 7 or windows phone 7. If its .NET version is .NET CF 3.7, can I run my old .NET 3.5 apps over it or I should change them to silverlight version? (As I know I cannot run them on windows phone 7)
3-I couldn't find any screenshot of it.
4- For window phone 7, there is a free add-on on VS 2010 for development (although publishing is not free). Is there any free development toolkit & emulator(handheld emulator indeed)?
Thanks in advance
4-..or Completely I'm in a wrong way of thinking? ;-)
About your questions:
1- Is there any handheld device that runs with it?
Yes there are.
The Windows Embedded Partner Program might give you more alternatives
2- what's its .Net framework version? .NET CF 3.5 or .NET CF 3.7 ?
Windows Embedded Compact 7 includes the .NET Compact Framework 3.5
I don't know whether its technology related to windows 7 or windows phone 7.
AFAIK, it is not related to Windows 7, and it is not realated at all with Windows Phone 7.
If its .NET version is .NET CF 3.7, can I run my old .NET 3.5 apps over it?
The .NETCF version is 3.5, so yes, you can run your old >NETCF applications.
or I should change them to silverlight version?
If you do that, then your application will not work anymore. WinCE 7 does not support managed silverlight, it only supports something that is somehow called Silverlight but it actually targets development in native code using C++.
3-I couldn't find any screenshot of it.
Here, enjoy:
4- For window phone 7, there is a free add-on on VS 2010 for development (although publishing is not free). Is there any free development toolkit & emulator(handheld emulator indeed)?
You can use VS 2008, but AFAIK it is not possible at this time to create an emulator for it, since Microsoft has not released the Emulator BSP for WinCE 7.

can I run Windows Embedded CE 6.0 on a regular PC?

As i just need the hard RT capabilities, can I install and run Windows Embedded CE 6.0 on a regular PC ? (dell or so ?), and UDP out some data ?
You can install Windows CE in a PC, but you would need to create your own image. See this tutorial in MSDN. Also google for CEPC.
Finally visit Mike Hall's blog. I remember reading a related article there, but I can't find it now. Anyhow, this blog is a great resource for Windows Embedded.
(From working with Windows CE 5.0, so there may be some differences, YMMV.)
You should be able to run Windows CE both in an emulator and installed on the device itself as the host operating system.
In the first case all you need is an emulator, which is provided with the development kit and in a more expensive version of Visual Studio. This will run the OS fine, albeit a bit slow depending on the architecture you choose to build the Guest OS for.
In the second case you will actually need to find or write drivers for the hardware that you want to run on and use. This will require the Platform Builder application (I believe it's a plugin to Visual Studio now) and knowledge of the hardware that you are running on. Windows CE itself does support x86 processors, although I don't remember if it supports all x86 processors (instruction sets) or just 486's.
If you want to go down the second route you also may be able to get an Intel Atom or AMD Geode board support package (BSP) which will help you develop the drivers.
